disappointment. Over a 2 hour period of lengthy delays between courses. When the waitstaff came to remove the salad, mostly uneaten (what fine dinning place puts powdered parmesan on a salad?) and I indicated that the salad was satisfactory we went down hill from there. waited 45min for our entrée and when it arrived it was dried out. My daughter ate mine because her's had virtually no sauce and I was not going to eat it after my second mouthful. (she is very pregnant and was hungry). When they came and asked if I wanted to take mine home I said no I will not eat that. Clear indication that your customer is not happy. Waited another 27 min and went and asked a server to get me my bill. Said I have had enough I want my bill and I want to leave. 7 min later the waiter comes over and asks if we want dessert? What the heck? No I want my bill and I want to leave. He brings the bill. $120.00. I tell him I am not paying for my entrée. He goes to get the manager. So sorry blah, blah, blah gift certificate give us another chance, brings back the bill 80.00 and a 40.00 gift certificate, I don't care I am furious want to pay and get the hell out of there. 8 min later no one come to take payment. I throw the gift certificate on the table with 50.00 take my clearly upset pregnant daughter and walked out the door. Never had an experience like this in my life. And the restaurant was only 1/4 full on a Saturday night. Incredible.
Three of us came to celebrate a special friend's birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed the Chateaubriand prepared table side. It was cooked to perfection. Delicious vegetables, beautifully presented, accompanied the entree. The wait staff, when asked, offered assistance selecting a champagne and an accompanying wine. Our friend received a delightful message written in chocolate on a plate with a strawberry and candle to mark the occasion. It was an excellent dining experience.
We also enjoyed the "easy-listening" music of Jim Chapman while dining. Not too loud - just right. It added to the ambiance.
Everything was great. I food was well done and the service was very friendly. We were seated a little close to the piano for my liking , but overall a great night out
Food and service were great, the decor could use some updating.
Friendly, efficient, knowledgeable staff make the beautifully prepared, delicious meal most enjoyable. Michael's is consistently excellent.
We very much enjoyed our dinner at Michael's on the Thames in London, Ontario. All of our appetizers and entrees were delicious. My husband, however, wasn't crazy about the noodles in his salmon dish but he wanted to try something new so it's a risk he took! He said they tasted bland. The service was top-notch. We were catered to by various waiters/ waitresses who were all very kind and courteous and extremely prompt! I thoroughly enjoyed my birthday celebration!
We had a wonderful time last night at Michael's on the Thames. I brought a friend who had never been there before and he was very impressed.
This was our first time at Michael's but we found it to be a special experience. Very unforgettable. Would do it again.
Definitely will be returning. Service was great, food was scrumptious!
The tableside Caesar salad was not up to their usual standard (Way too much lemon) and the fish entree was overcooked.
I will not be be recommending or visiting this restaurant ever again. When we entered, the restaurant was dead...that should have been the first clue since it was July 1st. The waitress was wonderful and served us our drinks right away and left us to look at the menu. The menu was disappointing. We ordered escargot which was inedible as an appetizer. The entres were of no variety. Meat or fish, and horribly overpriced. They tasted aweful. Prime rib was overcoooked. My chicken was tastless yet somehow only tasted like cheese. My husband got a baked potato that was leather and we both had a side of DEAD and dry and tasteless OLD inedible mixed vegtables. We left as soon as we paid. Horrible. Never again. I would not recommend going to this restaurant.
Very good meal, I will go again. The Caesar salad is the best that I've ever had.
I thought that the food was amazing and am planning on going back again for my next special occasion dispite the error made with my bill. I asked them to split it and they put items that other people ordered on mine i didn't mention anything because i wanted the dinner to be a good experience.
We had a great evening at Micheal's on the Thames
The food was fantastic and it was quite entertaining watching our food being prepared at the table. The Caesar Salad was very tasty and the Duck was even better and Dessert was to die for
All in All we had a very memorable evening
Great job done by all
Ron and Annette Bishop
I went for a special occasion for lunch, the French soup was amazing, perfect presentation and the taste delicious.
I totally recommended.
Lunch with a group of 6 friends. Excellent food, service, ambience and price.
Everything about our experience was great! Friendly staff, very personable. Food was delicious and well worth the cost. Love how the Caesar Salad and some other dishes are made right in front of you (tableside). Very memorable experience and would absolutely recommend it to anyone for any occasion.
Food was terrible! Cocomut shrimp was dry and burnt! The escargot mushroom caps were tasteless and the steak was ery thin fatty and under cooked! Very very disappoi ted!
Our reservation was acknowledged promptly without any issue, the greeting was cordial, our table was well situated but the lights were too bright for a romantic restaurant with candles on tables, you would think you were at McDonald with their lighting ( on our request they were dimmed a little ), the wine list was extensive and our choice was excellent, the food was well prepared and very appetizing. We were disappointed with the way they cook at the tables but the person who cooked our meal did an excellent job with what he had and the food was delicious but only one of us had the chance to see the flaming show because the way we were seated, we had a rectangular table and the kart should have been at one end so that all could see but there was no room and he had to do it in a larger spot in the aisle. At Michael the wheeled table kart is too big for the size of the rooms and can not get close enough to tables where people requested the food cooked at their table for everyone at the table to see. They should have a smaller kart so they could move it around easily and closer to tables. Our original waitress was a disaster, she poured our wine when we first got the 2 bottles and never came back to fill our glasses, never checked if we needed anything during the meal, we had to request coffee twice at the end of the meal to go with the dessert, said she forgot, luckily another server "Sean" took over a few times as he realize that we were left on our own and gave us an excellent service until we left. The piano player was great and well located and the noise level was perfect. The fireplace was lit and gave the room a warm romantic feeling. For this kind of upscale restaurant some of their females servers have a few things to learn on service. We believe this is the Manager's job to check reviews and make changes. We are used to 5 stars restaurants outside of London and sorry to say Michaels on the Thames does not make the cut, service wise.
Great restaurant...the food never disappoints..prime rib melts in your mouth! Excellent service and atmosphere..
We (a party of six) found the waitresses to be very tense and cross as though something had happened behind the scene? There were only some "smiles" at the table but that was it. We also felt that there should be some soft background music as it was too quiet. We came for nostalgic reasons but will not return as the ambiance is not at all the same as years ago.
As my response indicates, this was an excellent experience; the staff work very well as a team and we enjoyed the special touches such as the Caesar salad being tossed at the table and the duck being sauced/flambeed at the table.
Lovely evening to celebrate and enjoy the occasion. Food was excellent but way too large a serving.
Wine list would improve with more Malbec choices from Argentina.
Still one of the best restaurants in the city of London.
We had a fabulous evening. The food was delicious and plate presentation was perfect. The music level was soft. Easy to talk around. I would highly recommend this restaurant
Found it disappointing that the menu prices are not kept up to date our meal price increased by
$4.00 between the time we ordered and when we received the meal I didn't realize inflation was such a problem otherwise the food was great .
Been eating here for over 30 years and this was the first time we left not impressed. We had the Chateau Briand for two and every time we have come the veggies were as good as the meat. This time the veggies were all prepared well in advance and were barely warm when we got served. This entire dish used to be made tableside, now it feels like they walked past the buffet line and gathered the pieces, reheated for 3 mins in front of us and serve and I am supposed to think this is gourmet? $74 for two for a tiny piece of meat, 3 deep fried potato wedges, 3- asparagus, 3 beans wrapped in a bacon slice, uncooked stuffed tomato, a few mushrooms, and don't forget the Spanakopita(what it is doing on the plate still makes us wonder), two chunks of raw pepper, a 1.5" chunk of raw zucchini, and a few snow peas with the strings not removed. The uncooked stuffed tomato with two raw carrots and a tiny piece of broccoli was good once we got it home, seasoned it and cooked it with the peppers. Thank goodness the Caesar Salad, $24 for two was excellent. Our server was also excellent. $130 for dinner with tip, no drinks or dessert.
Great spot, wonderful food, fantastic service. Michael's was recommended by a friend and what a great suggestion. We went for our 30th wedding anniversary. We had the prime rib and the portions were wonderful. We were stuffed and took home a doggy bag. We will definitely go again.
Great service, very friendly staff. Great selection of food. Would definitely go back for a date night.
Excellent experience all around! Fantastic food matched with exceptional service. Great place to go for a romantic date night.
Michael's is always a treat. We drive over two hours and deal with border delays and it is well worth it! Fabulous dining experience! Table side dishes are fantastic, especially the Caesar Salad. Wait staff are all true pros and make your experience that much better. We will come back again and again.
We had a fantastic fine dining experience at Michael's. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Everything was seasoned to perfection, I had the sea scallops..fantastic.
The prime rib was delicious as usual. A great place for our 52 anniversary.
Over all good experience! Really liked the side table Cesar salad presentation
A dining tradition - my daughter's birthday and Mother's Day - exceptional meal and service. Table side caesar salad and chateaubriand absolutely fabulous - a great spot to celebrate
Great food, relaxing and nice friendly service. Nicely laid out seating arrangements throughout the resturant.
Wonderful food and wonderful service! We have now been to Michael's on the Thames twice, and both times have just loved the romantic ambience and incredible meal!
Very good dining experience. Excellent prime rib and steak. River view is nice if available.
This was an excellent place for the birthday celebration of a senior as it had both the ambiance of the location and the sound levels were kept to a level that conversation was easy. The food was very well prepared and the servers were very attentive. The prices are a little on the higher side, so this is probably not what you would look for in a young family outing although the location and spaciousness of the room would be quite suitable for a family with slightly older children who would appreciate the surroundings.
The service was a highlight, and having a dish prepared beside our table was entertaining. My steak was very nice. My biggest concern about the meal was that the warm dishes did not all arrive at my table at the same time, and some dishes were not as hot as I would have liked.
