If you really want to impress me with an exceptional dining experience-
Please offer the choice of mineral water. Don't just fill my glass with ice water.
Please accommodate my request for a half glass of wine.
If you are asking people to pay $100 plus per person before tip... it's not a big deal
Ask the server with the tattoos to wear a long sleeve shirt and smile.
The waitress and hostess did seem to warm up but were a little less than gracious at first.
The bone in dry aged filet was an exceptional experience. Highly recommend the wild mushroom/ onions to accompany.
Thank you
We wee in the mood for steak and Michael's was the perfect place to enjoy a quiet, relaxed dinner. The setting is warm and welcoming, and the array of menu choices impressive -- wine list too. Much to choose from! Highly recommended is the bone-in filet -- it is $$ but well worth it for the distinctive, mouth-watering flavor. Excellent, fresh options for salads (good to share) and vegetables. The desserts (if you still have room!) are ample. A beautiful place to enjoy a special evening and a memorable meal.
For the most part I was pleased with most all of my food but what I went there for was a good steak, 1 the steak that I wanted they didn't have anymore (Individual Tomahawk Ribeye steak) 2 the steak that I ordered was not physically charred but the flavor was so overly charred that it was not palatable It was like the grill Or flat top or whatever they use needed to be cleaned I was very disappointed. When I've eaten there many times before and everything was excellent.
Lobster Mac and cheese was amazing ....also the bar service was excellent
Great service and dinner. Every item from appetizers to entree were cooked perfectly. Will be back again for SOME of the rest of the menu. Absolutely perfect meal.
Excellent food, ambiance, and most service. Was mildly frustrated when we showed up with a reservation and were told no tables were available, bordering on rudely, when there were three open and fully set. We came back 10 minutes later to be seated at one of the tables that was open when we arrived originally (the other 2 were not occupied at any point in the night). When we were seated we found that something had been spilled on the floor under the table. We told our waiter (who was fantastic otherwise) but he did nothing, did not have it cleaned or move us to a different open table. The food was fantastic individually, but the side my wife ordered did not pair with her entrè at all and the flavors actually conflicted. At this price point I would have expected more proactive advice from the wait staff. Overall it was a very good meal, but the experience was somewhat disappointing considering the hype and price point. We would probably give them a second chance if we come back to town, but with so many options I don't see that happening.
We really like this restaurant, but must have caught them on a bad night. They were obviously understaffed, we waited 10 minutes to be seated , then once seated hardly saw our server because she was busy, but we could tell she was making an effort. The manager was not going to go out of her way to apologize or make our experience any better. Food as usual was great.
Thomas, our waiter was awesome.
The best part of this restaurant is the atmosphere, soaring ceilings, Caesar salad made at your table, and decor. The server was great, as well, but the manager seemed really put out when we told her our food was incredibly too salty. It absolutely ruined all the flavor of their (I don’t eat meat) high-priced steaks. My fish wasn’t edible, either... Because we love the ambiance and “old world” feel, iF we go again, we will ask for “very light salt” or NO SALT on our food to be sure it’s edible. I hope to write a raving review the next time! So much potential!
Waiter was very nice and explained the menu to us. Enjoyed the restaurant very much.
Service top notch!
The food was great but the service was slow. It took a while for our drink order to be taken upon being seated. Then it took about 40-45 minutes for our entrees to come out. The restaurant was not busy for a Saturday evening, so I wasn’t sure why there was a delay. Plenty of comparable steakhouses with better service, especially for the price. In all fairness, the steak was great.
Food was amazing and our server, Mark S was exceptionally nice, and attentive and provided perfect service.
Steaks were fabulous.
Perfect dining experience from entering the establishment, during the entire meal with a very attentive waiter.
Great food and service. Best steak that I’ve eaten in Charleston.
After a performance at piccolos Pollito, my wife and I had reservations here. It was a tremendous meal, one of the best steaks I’ve ever had and my wife had salmon with some delicious side dishes. Wonderful atmosphere and fantastic service! Our waiter was one of the best we’ve had this year. These guys rock!
My wife and I loved the food and service! The table side ceasar salad was amazing!
Our waitress could hardley be bothered to wait on us.
The cod dish was over cooked and ths vegetables were barely recognizable.
First and last time dining there.
Beautiful and romantic Resturant. My steak was chewy and had no taste to it Reminded me of airplane food. Service was good. Shrimp cocktail was not served on ice so it was served slightly cool which was not appetizing.
Fantastic meal. Great service. Eaten at a lot of steak houses here and throughout the world and the filet I had here rivals any piece of meet I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy. Like butter with no fat. Everything else from the wedge to the carpaccio was amazing!
Already mentioned to several individuals in the area and who spend quite a bit of time in the area.
The steak was incredible—the salad and the sides were just ok, so overall it wasn’t worth the cost. The inside is beautiful and the atmosphere was great. Our waiter was excellent.
Mother's Day brunch was fantastic. I had the Lobster Benedict and my spouse had the Shrimp and Grits with a side of fruit. Desert was a blueberry Lemon Ricotta Cake. Everything was delicious and PERFECT. What a Charleston Gem. Service was relaxed and wonderful.
Eat Mother's Day Lunch and ordered Chicken and Waffles. The waffles were very dense, cold and did not taste good. The chicken was 2 chicken wings and we were expecting a chicken breast that you could eat with the waffles. Very disappointing.
Easy things to fix. Food runners and timing food that comes out for the whole. Eat dish for our party of 7 was brought out individually and quite some time between the first and last dish. The waffles were pretty bad that came with the chicken and waffles. All and all not that bad though.
We went for Mother's Day dinner with our two young daughters. They love having the Caesar salad tossed tableside. We were informed that it would be a while as there three tables ahead of us in line for the table side service. We opted for it to be prepared in the kitchen. It came out within a few minutes with the anchovies sitting on top (OK for me, but my two young daughters were put off). We've always had the server ask in advance about it as they know how kids react. But the actual bad part was that the all of the leaves were pale white in color. Even worse was the brown spot on the stalk pieces on all of the salads. It was really overall an unappetizing salad. The steaks were good, but the accompanying blue cheese sauce was really just chunks of blue cheese with bacon, not an actual sauce - quite dry. The quality of the meat was wonderful, but it was just meat on a plate. If the salad had not been so underwhelming, we may not have noticed this, but at this point it just seemed that food was being thrown onto the plate without a sense of it being "presented". Charleston standards are pretty high and we've grown accustomed to a certain level of attention to details at this price point. Sadly, they were just not there.
Took my wife here on a date and absolutely loved it. We stopped at Victors Social Club for a drink before supper and the Autumn Harvest Mule was fantastic. My wife had a mojito and it was really good as well. Our food at Michaels was wonderful. The bread service with the butter was nice and our steaks were amazing. My wife got the bacon Wrapped filet and I got the Delmonico ribeye. Both were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Definitely will be going back.
very nice place, food was ok, octopus was dry and tough, spinach was lumpy and too much cheese which made it salty
will go back to give them another shot
The bacon wrapped filet was good but not great. The prime rib was mediocre at best. They brought my wife a baked potato that she had to chop up the toppings herself. They came out extremely too large to eat. Our waitress friendly but not attentive. The dining room was very loud. It was a bad choice as a place to celebrate our anniversary.
Can hardly wait to go back! Everything was really wonderful!
My wife and I were celebrating our birthdays. We arrived a few minutes before our 6 pm reservation, were warmly welcomed and seated immediately. Our waitresses was a joy. She helped make suggestions for our entrees, was very upbeat, and checked on us often. Our filets were great. But the kicker was the dessert. She brought out a peanut butter chocolate mousse with two candles on it (for our birthdays)!! Awesome!! Thank you!
Great service we enjoyed our meal. Great for a special occasions.
Bread was dry, crab tomato bisque soup short on the crab, Lamb was fatty, chicken was dry, martini not served as requested, no desire to stay for dessert. No desire to complete any dish that as served to us. Service was attentive.
It was a slow Monday night after the Easter holiday weekend. It would not have surprised me for that to have impacted the service and/or food. It did not. Lauren, our server, was on top of her game. Excellent, friendly service. Our food was very good. We shared a Charcuterie board that we enjoyed. My entree was a simple Delmonico Ribeye and the flavor was excellent. One of my companions(our brand new Daughter-in-Law) had a short-rib dish that she was well pleased with. My son had the evening special, A Black Grouper dish that he liked a great deal. We had a version of a Tiramisu that was overly sweet to my taste. While it was not my idea of a traditional Tiramisu, it was sweet and I scraped the plate, so I can't really complain. There is a good wine list but since I was the only wine drinker for the evening I did not order a bottle. Victor's Social Club is attached and is a prime example of an old-school cocktail bar. The location down the alley is a tucked-away yet easily accessible location. It was a fun, relaxing evening.
One of the worst brunch experiences we ever had!! The service was so poor but the food was worst!
We went for Easter Brunch. My wife had the lemon pancakes and she enjoyed the pancakes. I on the other hand had the smoked North Atlantic trout on avocado toast. The trout tasted like pork and it was very tough, and the toast was hard and just a smattering of avocado not satisfied at all. I should have gone with the eggs, it is difficult to ruin eggs. We will try to come for the regular dinner menu and see if our selections will be better and tastier.
The brunch was very underwhelming. My boyfriend's steak was over cooked and very tough. My eggs benedict claimed to have 3/4 of a lb of lobster on it and it had four tiny pieces. The eggs were also severely under-cooked.
Great food and service!
Outstanding! Table Side Ceaser was excellent, Steak was so tender and flavorful and the Aligot Potatoes were amazing. Christina as always made sure we were taken care of and our server Thomas, went above and beyond. A wonderful anniversary dinner.
