We were visiting Toronto for the weekend with friends, threw a dart looking for a steakhouse and landed on Michael's. I'd say we hit a bullseye. Everything from the greeting, to the service, to the food was outstanding! It's pricey but if you are looking for an overall top notch experience, this is you're place. We will be making at annual stop on our trip next year.
The service was excellent - from the greeting to the bartender and our server Bryce. Very attentive. Food and wine were delicious.
The service was excellent. They were very attentive to everything we could need. The food was very good with a lot of choices and price ranges.
I brought my girlfriend to Michael's on Simcoe for her birthday. The staff was courteous and prompt and the food was exemplary. We got stuck in traffic on the way and were late, but when we told our server that we had to show afterwards he made sure to get us out on time.
Service was great and food was impressive. The portion of the side dishes is too big.
Always amazing in every regard. - not cheap, but you get what you pay for. The valet option for the vehicle is a priceless.
Service was excellent, food was excellent, Wagyu beef was well worth the price paid.
Went early 5:15pm before a theatre show, Restaurant was mostly empty, until later, we were seated in a nice booth, but the server had a water station on one side, the sommelier set up his wine station for another table on the top of our booth, opposite the water station , we were stuck between all of this activity and conversation, etc, not very conducive to a quiet or intimate dining experience; something to consider to improve guest experience.
I couldn’t believe steaks were that expensive .... not sure I would ever pay over 100 just for an 8oz steak and some were over 1000 ... just for the steak !!
All courses were to-die-for.
We went to Michael’s for my husband’s birthday! We went for the steak but were even more surprised and satisfied by our sides and the dessert, the broccolini caesar, the crab cake and the Paris Brest were perfect! Definitely worth another visit.
Incredible meal and experience. Will definitely return.
Perfect every time!
Excellent food and service in a tasteful setting. High end.
This was our first dining experience here and it was absolutely lovely 💝
Very good food, excellent service with a very nice atmosphere.
The service was wonderful. Absolutely first class. Given you can buy a steak from Australia (for a couple of hundred dollars) I was disappointed there wasn’t any Alberta beef. A very nice experience.
Extremely expensive for what you get in food, service and overall. I recommend not to go.
This is a top notch steakhouse that is not for the weak of pocketbook. The service is excellent, the drinks are excellent and the wine list is phenomenal, providing you can afford it. We had the chateaubriand and it was flavorful and tender. Although ai know a great deal about wine, I do not hesitate to accept recommendations and the sommelier had a great one for a super Tuscan. As long as you can afford to drop several hundred on a meal, this is the place to go for carnivores.
Each Christmas, we get together with some friends and go out for a nice dinner to celebrate. We've been doing this for about 15 years, and have been to several restaurants, including Scarmouche, Jacobs and Co., Blue Blood (Casa Loma), among others. Based on the reviews I'd read, I'd expected Michaels on Simcoe to be a great choice. Not so much. We arrived and were seated quickly. The room is nice, but it was extremely loud. I could barely hear my partner sitting next to me (we're all in our mid-40s and our hearing is fine). I could deal with that. Then, throughout the meal, several tables of obvious business groups started yelling at each other across their tables, standing and clapping and being generally obnoxious. There were at least two other tables of all men who were clearly plastered and talking so loudly because the noise level was ridiculous. There were a few tables of couples and, maybe I'm wrong, but they didn't seem to thrilled to be spending $400+ for dinner to listen to these loud mouths. It's clear that Michael's really caters to business dinners and people who just want to compare corporate expense accounts. As for the meal, it was only okay. I love burrata and ordered the burrata appetizer. There was an off flavour that I realized was Parmesan cheese. They paired the burrata with pesto (normal) but added a very strong parmesan to their pesto that completely overpowered the burrata. Waste of a good cheese. As for the steak, everyone at the table asked for medium rare. Mine came more rare to blue. I didn't totally mind as the meat was good, but for a restaurant that touts itself as a steakhouse, wouldn't you know how to cook a filet medium rare? Will I be back? No. Not when I can get a better steak and atmosphere elsewhere.
Lovely venue and atmosphere, all staff were accommodating and friendly especially our server Brice. As expected the food was not cheap however it was all amazing so worth the money and the portions were a good size so we left feeling full! Would defo recommend if visiting Toronto
This is an exceptional place. My wife and I have been to a lot of top end steakhouses. This is among the top two or three.
We were seated at one of the circular banquettes which was a pleasant surprise as there was only two of us with a view of the fireplace highly recommend to get if possible. The service was super friendly and knowledgeable with great recommendations and help from our server over the type of steak to order especially over the type of knife to use depending on the texture of the meat. It was a wonderful evening.
This was the absolute best dining experience I believe I have ever had. Everything was absolutely perfect from beginning to end. Peter was a gem. The best server we could have gotten. I would go back every single day if possible!
The entire experience deserves more than 5 stars. The service and food was impeccable. My only issue was that it was quite loud and hard to hear our server. Other than that it was by far the best fine dining experience I've had in the city.
Food was fantastic! Service was very good!
Amazing Service, Food and Ambience. Not too quiet and not too loud. They made us all feel like VIP's and we are no VIP's.
Great restaurant and atmosphere typical steakhouse prices for downtown toronto. Peter was a great host to us. Very knowledgeable. Would return in the future
My husband and I have been to Michael's a few times and we keep going back because it's so good! The service is amazing (Peter is amazing - thank you Peter!!), the food is so delicious and it's a beautiful space.
I highly recommend to anyone who likes good quality food and service and does not mind paying for it.
Awesome food and service! Fairly pricey, but you get what you pay for!
Over priced for serving size, taste and quality but l wanted to try this place.
Absolutely delicious food, beautifully prepared. Service impeccable. While overall price is high, quality, presentation and service were impeccable.
This was a disappointing evening at Michael’s. This is a top end priced venue and it functioned like a pretty mid-range diner. The appetizers , carpaccio and a ceviche, were both pretty basic and forgettable. The carpaccio was sparse on the beef and buried in arugula and Parmesan slices. Really an arugula salad with a slice of beef. The ceviche was bland and very uninteresting. Even the lime was very restrained. No zest at all.
My black cod was pleasant, but nothing compared to a Nobu black cod. It was a lost opportunity for a really good fish. The veggies were the best part. My partner asked for a medium tenderloin, which showed up pretty well rare.
The best part was the cocktails which were imaginative. Wine was also ok, but way overpriced if you go by the glass.
Service was fairly peremptory, not particularly attentive. The table next to us had all kinds of mix ups with their order, which was their problem except that we were so compressed that it became ours too.
The dining room is very noisy and needs baffles to absorb the sound. At times we could not converse without raising our voices.
Many things need attention here.
Salad was a bit light in terms of size, but taste was spot on. Drinks were generous re strength. Sides were all great, comparable to Jacobs. Steaks were good (not great), but seasoning was brilliant. Deserts were great (the pine nut tart lived up to what I’d been told.
Waiter was great, attentive and willing to take time to explain things (and the wait staff as a whole acted as a team and it showed).
Ambiance was a bit less staid than similar places, but certainly not distracting. Live singer was not so loud as to require one to raise ones voice.
Michaels is a wonderful Steak House in Toronto. Very high end steak. Service second to none. Be prepared to open your walket though.
Amazing food. Brought our 5 month old and they were incredibly accommdating. Even cut her steak while she was holding the baby
The ambience and service was good but we paid 250 dollars and the food was t worth our. We ordered a steak, lamb and Brussels sprouts. Steak was fine but somehow lacked taste. Lamb was bland and Brussel sprouts was rhe worst. Overall - not going back.
This was to be considered long awaited meal, so looking forward to enjoying a great meal. The server was so knowledgeable that he would not leave our table, filling us with continued up charging of available additions to our ordered meal. The Caesar salad was comparable to a supermarket buffet ( which was comp'ed) The steak I ordered from Nebraska was less than what was expected for the value. The wine which we picked was definitely a great vintage , it was enjoyed to the last glass, noticing that server was wanting to savour some for himself, by short pouring the glass , so some would be left in the bottle. Seasoning of steak or mushrooms did not do any justice to either.Parking was exceptional since we parked within 100 ft of door.
Not going back.
Excellent vibe and ambience. Wait staff were very friendly and knowledgable. Steak variety and quality were exceptional and cooked perfectly.
