Michael's On East Ratings and Reviews
Michaels on east is a lovely hidden gem. Super piano player/singer. Nice group of employees all the way around.
My only complaint was that I reserved on Open table and when I called regarding the dress code. They had no reservations for me. I had confirmation by Open table.
Dani the hostess was very kind and made sure our time etc was available
We will definitely put this on our list of go to restaurants
We always choose this restaurant when we want to have a special dinner, either asa couple or with friends. The food is always good, portions are generous, service is impeccable and the noise level makes conversation possible. All in all, one of the best restaurants in the Sarasota area!
Always been my favorite restaurant in Sarasota but extremely disappointing this time .
Beautifully prepared expensive steak served on COLD PLATES and was lukewarm.
Service slow as understaffed.
Not acceptable when one is paying top prices and expect quality
This is the 3rd or 4th time we have had dinner at Michael’s on East. Two have been for special occasions. We have never had anything close to a bad meal or experience . The service is excellent . Our server , Joe , was very friendly , knowledgeable about the menu and made good suggestions . The quality and variety of the food was also excellent . I travel and dine at fine restaurants around the US and the world and I believe that Michael’s on East has the right formula of excellent quality food, menu selection, interesting tasting menu’s coupled with a positive , friendly but non intrusive customer service that is harder and harder to find these days . Clearly , we will be back to dine again at Michael’s on East in the future.
We ordered Filet Mignon and were first served NY Strips. An unusual error. Creamed spinach, a recommended side dish, was extremely salty. Service was slow and poor. Interior, especially upholstered chairs, needs refreshing. We have dined at many Prime steakhouses. We will not return here.
We were a few minutes early so the receptionist said, "You can wait here or at the bar." Then she was too busy, just leaving us standing there. This is not the first time we have been totally ignored by Michael's receptionists.
Our party of five was seated and we ordered, but no-one exclaimed over his or her food. The food was good, but not exceptional except for the salmon which was very good. I had the "South African dinner" with coconut and chickpea soup as a starter. The soup had a unique flavor but the chickpeas were like little stones.
Portions were too large, each of us had to take half the meal home in a bag.
Third time eating there. Food heavy with sauces. More is not always better. I kept thinking each time it would be better because it is "supposed" to be the best restaurant. Only thing that saved it is the ambiance and the great waiter. I was sick all night and I am a healthy person who can eat anything. Sorry but I need to warn people.
My wife and I invited two friends to celebrate my birthday. We were quickly and politely seated, but were immediately annoyed by a loud recording by Neil Diamond blasting from above. I asked our waitress to have it turned down, which took some time, for which she apologized. Shortly after, another singer came on, just as loud. We were about to get up and leave, but the live(?) piano music began, which was at an acceptable level. In the meantime, our wine and food orders had been taken, but our starter arrived (the South African taster menu) before the wine, so we had to wait. Furthermore, our guests, who ordered the steak, had to ask for steak knives and wait for them.
The food was excellent, but the service was amateurish. Not what I would expect at Michael's.
We only came to Michael's because I realized I had some Connoisseur Club points, probably earned at P&G's on Longboat Key some long time ago. I won't be back.
Enjoyed a excellent dinner, with outstanding service. Overall very pleased with our choices for dinner. Scallops were perfectly cooked and the South African dinner was excellent. Our server was very personable and professional. She enhanced our dining experience. Would definitely recommend Michael's on East.
Excellent meal. There were four people in our party. We all were intrigued with the 3-course tasting menu - a menu that changes monthly based on a different country's cuisine. December featured South African cuisine. We all agreed that our meals were wonderful. I would highly recommend Michael's on East for anyone visiting Sarasota.
This Place was Amazing! The server Kathy was awesome. The Owner came by an greeted us, even the Piano player came by to say hello after playing my request. I took my wife here for her birthday and I must say, had to be the best thing I could have thought of. The food was more than great, we had the Duck, a couple appetizers and the truffle mac n cheese. In fact, the food was so good, the world actually slowed down, almost like I was in a high. I am very please with this place and I will definitely be coming back! Thank you Michaels's On East for a fantastic experience!
We went there because we love having good food and piano music. Well the piano man was horrible. He sang two songs and would take a break. He must think he has an awesome voice because that’s all you could hear. Yuck! Food and wine was good not excellent, sea bass was a bit dry which, in my opinion is a crime. Overall, i don’t think I will go back.
Excellent food as I had the swordfish which was as good as I’ve ever had and my wife had the bone in ribeye which she loved. We also split asparagus and potato croquettes both were very enjoyable the croquettes were lukewarm and they made sure to rectify the situation as the service was impeccable.
A great evening but be prepared to pay a rather hefty price tag. All that would recommend.
The usually good food at Michael's was even better than expected. I often have the Lobster Rolls and they were even better than before. Plenty of lobster and no filler.
Not an inexpensive place for lunch; however, if you want a touch of elegance and good food, it's a fine choice.
A definite do-over. One visit was enough to consider this restaurant as one of our favorites. Creative cuisine, beautifully served, in a great atmosphere. It hit all the right notes. Cannot believe it took as long as it did before we experienced this Sarasota standout but surely our future visits will make up for lost time.
Hadn't been to Michael's on East for about 15 years or longer, but it lives up to my memories. Outstanding food, if a bit overpriced. A Dewar's Scotch Robroy at $18 beats even most New York prices, and was no better than the one I had the night before at another upscale Sarasota restaurant for $11 the night before. Service was good, but we really didn't need the server to keep blaming the "kids" (runners) for not refilling water glasses or for failing to bring our side with our dinners -- that should be her responsibility or she should be taking charge, not looking to blame others. And while we LOVED the piano music, when the guy started singing the atmosphere when down about 5 notches. He should just play, not sing.
