Vibrant, lively atmosphere, beautiful surroundings in the Garden Room. One of the best Nicoise salads I have ever had. Michael McCarty was nice enough to stop by and say hello. Our server was adequate but everything else was enjoyable and I look forward to returning.
Pea raviolli amazing ! Farro salad great too
Service always good but Nora was best ever
Enjoyed lunch, hear dinner is quite good. I held my daughters wedding rehearsal dinner here and would highly recommend for a private party
Excellent as always. Has been a favorite for many years.
The best lunch in town
Food and Service here are consistently very good. Although usually crowded, the tables are well spaced so it is a go to spot for business meals or quiet conversation.
This restaurant is over-rated. The food was okay but nothing like the 4.5 star rating with over 1000 reviews would imply. The interior decor looks like it was last updated in the early 90s. My experience was very different than what I expected based on what is represented on the OpenTable reviews and photos.
I'm sorry I don't remember her name but our server was incredibly patient and gracious to the people I was with. Always great food! Nice atmosphere.
I have been going to Michael's for a very long time; my coworker and boss were very friendly with Michael himself. However, I presented a $200 gift card at the beginning of the dinner before my friends arrived and the gentleman who took it from me (he saw me holding it and said he would take care of it) did not listen to me and thought I did NOT want my friends to know I had the certificate. I said to take the $200 off the total and I would pay the balance. He condescendingly advised me that I would have to tip on the total BEFORE the $200 was deducted which is something I certainly knew to do. I have been dining in NYC restaurants for over 35 years and certainly know the protocol -- I do not need anybody telling me the "rules." It was quite a turnoff and I don't think I will be returning to Michael's as a result.
Delicious and perfect location for a great business lunch. Must try. Must dine at
Whether NYC or Santa Monica, Michaels dishes are fantastic. Today he brought the joy of a late spring/early summer garden to the table. Thank you!
Michael's, my "go to" lunch place, is always wonderful both for food and service. The food is innovative, prepared with care and there are lots of light choices. The staff is extremely accommodating. I eat at Michael's frequently with business guests and they love it, as do I.
Perfect business lunch in midtown. Personal and attentive service. Excellent location. My consistent go-to and they consistently get it right.
Food was very good but the prices where very high for what was set on the table.
Kale Caesar salad was good, nothing special and certainly not a good value at $19
$38 for 4 sea scallops? Very tasty, but then anything sautéed in 1/2 stick of butter is pretty good, no?
Good for quiet conversation, but I have to say "pass" based on the disingenuousness of the owner. Came over to shake hands and ask about the meal- yes a very nice touch, all owners should do this, but when he said "great to see you again." when I have never met him before ...
This is a good expense account restaurant, but you can find much better and more interesting places for the money if you are footing the bill.
We celebrated my birthday at Michael’s, it was an absolutely wonderful dining experience. I love how the chef prepares the scallops which are seared perfectly and adds an amazing combinations of flavors. The manager and staff are wonderful, great service, attentive and friendly. Highly recommend!
Wonderful.. very chill classy place
Great service and delicious food. Tried the tacos and the bao and was pleasantly surprised.
Outstanding service and food.
I think Michaels is one of the best restaurants in New York City, The service was attentive and friendly. The food was great. The ambience of the restaurant is wonderful. Beautiful art, a garden in the back, and a light, airy feel. I will definitely go back.
The resto was just fine...but phenomenally expensive.We had bfast;
2 cappuccinos, a small fruit plate and 2 omelettes...$140 including tip...that's insane and it was good..not great.Micheal himself worked the room and chatted w/ us.That was fun and he is very personable...but not enough to justify price.
What is especially nice is that Michael stops
by every table and chats whether you are a
regular or not ! Been there many times for
lunch but never for dinner. Enjoyed it all,
beautiful restaurant and the paintings on
the walls are a sight to see.
Extremely slow service. Food was adequate. On balance was overpriced.
lovely space with excellent food fine wine and a casual comfortable atmosphere.
Fresh Pea soup seasonal and amazing ! Soft shell crab outrageous! Pea ravioli divine ! If you love peas ( i am obsessed) you must get there before menu changes!
Two friends and I get together for meals in the City a few times a year. Michael's is now our favorite venue. The restaurant has lovely decor and an interesting menu. It is quiet and the service is attentive, flexible and professional.
very lovely dining room, excellent food and prompt service
Just a great staff. The maitre de is a treasure. Likes his job. And good at it
We had lunch at Michael’s, the restaurant was packed but staff still provided excellent service. The food was excellent! We both ordered soft shell crab for appetizer, I had seared scallops and my friend had a Cobb salad as a main course. Food was so delicious, I can’t wait to go back on my birthday for dinner.
The food was excellent; however, the timing was simply terrible. We ordered cocktails that were not delivered until AFTER our entrees — not ideal at all. The waiter just muttered an apology that the bartender had not seen the order — nothing taken off the bill. Our entrees were served too quickly but we sat for a long, long time waiting for the dessert we ordered — long after our espressos were delivered and finished (which one would prefer to have WITH dessert). It was a shame that the timing was so off because the ambience is nice and the food quite tasty. There seemed to be only one waiter working. It also took a very long time to get the check. I would still recommend this restaurant with the hope that our experience was not the norm.
Always top notch and lots of fun with delicious food. And good people watching.
Great staff, they know their menu and made great menu suggestions for our meal. personable owner, we will visit the Santa Monica location... great location to catch up with out of town visitors staying nearby.
Pea raviolli amazing
Simply a great place for a great dinner in NYC on a Saturday evening. There was simply nothing wrong. Food delicious and service great. At 8:00 PM, presumably after a theatre crowd had left, the room was quiet enough to talk, tables well spread so we weren't overhearing other conversations, and price reasonable for midtown. It's a place I will add to my dining spots when I visit NY.
We had a very nice lunch at Michael's last week. Service was very good, food was very good and it is a nice, civilized room with a very nice vibe.
Excellent food quality and good service.
Owner is very nice and speaks good french!
Nice to dine in a restaurant that is quiet… Finally!
We will be back
Excellent food; great atmosphere
Great food and superb service! I would recommend this mid-town marvel to locals and visitors.
Good old classic Cobb salad, a glass of Rose — all is well with the world at Michael’s. Service very good and ambience lovely.
not a place that makes you feel very welcome
