Everything was just great
Excellent food. The service was slow. We arrive at 5:30 and we were having desserts at 7:10.
Had a good buisness dinner. Special appetizer of the white asparagas was very good and my order of pork chop was moist and well seasoned. My business associates had squid ink pasta dishes and enjoyed them. Although the wine list seemed extensive the Brunello and the Super Tuscan offering was pretty limited and a bit on a pricey side.
One of the best lunches I had in NYC. Great ambiance. Spacious, full of light, friendly service. The owner came to the table to say hello. The food is amazing. Specially the Asian infused small plates. Maybe because of the background of the chef. The main courses are great too.
Michael is very gracious to come around and greet the guests
Delight and leisurely breakfast with a friend surrounded by world class art! A real treat.
Pasta was cooked too much and it was soggy.
Service was slow and the waiter was not helpful trying to decide menu.
Always a party at michaels!!
Great food, atmosphere, and service. The owner also stopped by the table to greet us. Enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back
The GM was a wonderfully kind and welcoming host. The food was outstanding as always. We definitely miss the sticky toffee pudding though.
Tremendous diversified menu... something for everyone but at a huge cidt
No one better than Steve!
We had a very special evening. Highly recommended.
Great restaurant week deal and delicious steak. The service was prompt (and very formal, if that's your thing).
The freshness and delicacy of dishes is why we return. I had the hamachi appetizer and octopus main, both were enjoyed on past visits. This time I questioned if the chef was in the kitchen. The $38 Octopus was predominantly potato with 4 small pieces of tentacle. I returned the dish, which came back with lots of cut up Octopus in an oily sludge. My enthusiasm is gone for a restaurant that in the past didn’t disappoint.
Came for restaurant week. Great tasting food and presentation. The crowd is business suits professional type. The decor is fresh and bright and clean. Artwork on the walls are tasteful.
Classic New York Power Lunch Spot! Restaurant week is such a Great Value! Love to come back.
What a lovely, unhurried dinner with friends! Interesting, delicious food, perfectly attentive service. A wonderful NYC restaurant.
This is a fairly upscale spot, good for business meetings or friends. The portions for Restaurant Week were not particularly large so we ordered a few more items from the menu, which were more ample. Not my favorite Restaurant Week outing, but the food was delicious. Definitely a good mid-town spot for those who aren't budget conscious.
Always can count on Michael's to exceed expectations even in the demanding NY City market. The staff are extremely professional and friendly without being too overbearing. Some could say "pricey" but for what you get well worth the cost.
I am always impressed by the courtesy, efficiency and the food at Michael's.
We always enjoy our lunch at Michael’s. Good food comes with excellent service.
Perfect for business lunch, you can comfortably have a conversation without anyone eavesdropping. The service is efficient. The food and presentation do not disappoint. This is not a place for the young generation, it has the old time feel and clientele to match.
Our daughter works nearby, so we chose it for lunch while visiting the city. We ordered the restaurant week menu. Food, service, and ambiance were perfect.
We had a wonderful experience, from the moment we walked in the door and were greeted, to the moment we left. The wait staff was very attentive and accommodating. the food was top notch, including the special birthday dessert for my husband. Well done. Highly recommended.
I was here for restaurant week. There are so many options to choose from and decided to check out this restaurant because of the location and pictures of the food. Food was good, but not worth getting seated at a later time (even with a reservation) AND not having the seltzer water I ordered from the bar brought to the table, as they said they would, and then getting charged for it. Cherry on top was that the manager refused to remove it from the bill because she then forgot she had mentioned that they’d bring it over. Ultimately the manager could have turned this into a more pleasant experience, but decided not to. All in all, the place is very ‘80s looking. As I write this The Police is playing, if that’s an indicator. There are plenty of options out there, you may try something different.
Wonderful food. Initially service was questionable as we waited far too long for drinks to arrive, as our waiter had a large party to take care of and we were seated a little earlier than our reservation time and were waiting for our guests. But once our table was fully seated the service was excellent, attentive but not obtrusive. Michael came around to each table and made sure everything was ok and as we left thanked us. Would definately go back.
Since it was our first time there, we took advantage of the Restaurant Week Menu. We both had the Sunchoke soup, sea bass with citrus and watercress. Both perfect. Dessert combo, chocolate cake,
banana brulee and vanilla ice cream. The chocolate cake was superb, not too sweet. The rest of the
dessert was uneventful. Service was excellent. The noise level is high. I would definitely recommend Michael's to friends.
It was perfect
A harrowing experience. The waiter seemed annoyed, though he smiled and was friendly to other diners. We were only 2, and seated at the worst table near the utilities. Food was just awful. Tough and tasteless. They never warn you about the steep, long stairs. We won't ever return.
Great food and a great atmosphere ... all at a fair price.
Michael is an attentive host and you feel special to be in his home.
Went the first day of restaurant week 2019. Cozy and quiet place. Food is pretty and good.
Great experience at Michal's - always serves up a great breakfast and service. Recommend for breakfast or lunch, great staff
The restaurant seems to be quite popular...filled up completely and quickly for lunch. A Little noisy. The Nicoise salad was tasty and fresh, but for $34 a little steep on the price (maybe its the NYC location ..midtown...and cost of overhead)...could add a few more morsels of the tuna and 2 more halves of the fingerling potatoes and a few more verticot vert (green beans).
The staff was attentive, professional, accommodating. (I asked to be moved from a drafty window on a cold day) and welcoming.
For lunch for just a salad and Perrier water, >$50 a little steep. The bottle of Perrier was $10...but they did ask if I wanted sparkling....I may try the place for dinner at some point.
Phenomenal! Excellent table and service. Highly recommend.
the food is great and the location is very convenient.
the service is first class and the people-watching is so fun!
while the room is busy and fun, the tables are spread-out enough to allow real conversations.
the owner (Michael) walks the room and has a very good handle on his business and customers.
this restaurant has a great reputation and it is well deserved ... congratulations!
The food is creative and perfectly prepared. The seating is comfortable, and there is ample room between tables. Our waitress was a bit aggressive in ‘selling’ food and drink. The wine list is super but the mark-ups on the wines were breath-taking.
No atmosphere, waitress without personality and a sommelier that thinks he is the best in NYC.
We had an awful time an PLEASE change the the carpet to eood or something more contemporary
I inadvertently made a reservation for the wrong date, but they were able to sort it out and accommodate us for lunch, which was lovely. Really great kitchen here.
My only complaint is that the waiter did not offer the price point on the specials - I don't think the patron should have to ask. I should have asked. The Dover Sole was outstanding, but I wouldn't have paid $70 for it had I known (about double any other entree).
Nonetheless, I'll be back. This place is terrific.
The staff was warm and friendly to a fault. Food was fresh, well-presented and interesting. The decor is highlighted by numerous artworks that collectively create a lively and sophisticated atmosphere. In back, there is a "garden room" that would be excellent for business-casual to semi-formal events of medium size.
