Since Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink first opened in the Miami Design District in spring of 2007, diners have come to embrace and crave its refreshing combination of laid-back atmosphere and seriously good food, a neighborhood bistro that is the ultimate showcase for the type of cuisine that chef/owner Michael Schwartz does best – homemade, unpretentious, delectable, with an emphasis on great local ingredients. The restaurant is open seven days a week and serves lunch, an afternoon menu, dinner and brunch. Our main dining room and courtyard seat 100, and The Bar Room, an additional 16, with 24 more seats at a welcoming bar where guests can enjoy our Afternoon Menu including raw bar from 3pm-5:30pm Monday through Saturday. Sunday Brunch is where our small plates shine on a weekly-changing menu of savory and sweet. Our restaurant is located in the vibrant Design District neighborhood, luxury fashion’s new playground in Miami.

Second time there. We had a reservation for two people and showed up early - as expected table wasn't ready so went to the bar as had two seats open. As we got settled we saw how chaotic it was and thought better off to just eat at the bar. Think that was a mistake. Bar staff were friendly but completely overwhelmed and the service timing was really poor. The food, though, was good. We were two pretty average eaters and so did 4 smaller dishes Lamb ribs were fantastic. Japanese eggplant was good (and interesting) if not great, same for the beet salad. Ended with a duck confit. My friend really enjoyed it - I thought it was just ok.
I'd go back. I think it was an exceptionally crazy night and the staff were trying, just couldn't keep up. And I made some mistaken choices - likely a better experience if had waited for the table.
First time at a table for two was better service and better food - still a good spot.

Outstanding cocktails, lamb ribs, duck, cowboy steak, octopus and apple pie! Even the bread is great. Enjoy!

Definitely not a stellar experience. Kitchen was not up to speed. Beet salad came out minus any beets. Side dishes were forgotten. Quality of the food ordered was good but timing and service were off

I have been here many times. This is the only time where I was just ok about the experience. We were sat about 30-mins late from our reservation time and no one said a word. Ok fine. But the staff just seemed overworked that night or I was just unlucky to not get the best staff there was.

Food was great as always though. Just be prepared for a wait sometimes on busy weekends. Overall will keep coming back. Just hope its not a new trend.

My only long lasting complaint about this place is the smoking outside. The staff needs to be a MUCH better job and making sure people are not smoking right next to diners. It can really ruin a meal.

I had the apple and fennel salad. It was delcious! Only one thing to consider: it should be served in a bowl, not in a dish.

Our experience at Michael's was a solid 15 out of 10. Our server was outstanding, the food was OFF the charts. Fresh, delicious, servings are perfect, flavors are so balanced. I HIGHLY recommend Michael's.
