Michael's Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Michael's has always been solid as far as food, but the last 2 times we've visited we have been ignored by staff to the point where we've had to go to the podium to see about a server. Saturday night we sat for 7 minutes without so much as a glass of water, and eventually had to flag down a bus boy to send a server over. Obviously not a fluke as it's happened twice. Maybe they prefer large groups to 2 tops.
Enjoyed another nice dining experience at Michael's. We are locals and usually hit Michael's about once a month or so. Have not had a bad experience in years. Always great to have a "go to" restaurant that you know what to expect and they deliver! The escargot special was the highlight last night.
Unusually great including service but this last time our server was so inattentive that we thought we had said something wrong to her... which we had not. It was a holiday lunch with an out of town family member who was shocked at the rudeness of our server. Not crowded at all. Should have just left.
We dined with friends and all of us very much enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. Our server, Mary, was professional, pleasant and attentive.
Our returning to the restaurant is a given. I would also like to compliment Josh (the Manager). He certainly is the right man for this position!
Last night we enjoyed a delightful dinner at Michael’s. We were seated in a small room off the main dining room with just 5 tables. It was certainly quieter than the main dining room! Brian, our server, was very friendly and attentive. The support staff for Brian was excellent – they kept our water glassed filled at all times and responded quickly to any request we made. My husband had the Chicken Francaise (dipped in a classic egg batter in a lemon butter sauce) with a salad and mixed vegetables. My brother and I both had the Open Faced Hot Turkey (pulled turkey, white bread, turkey gravy, cranberry sauce and real mashed potatoes). It was all so good, we cleaned our plates. My brother and I have December birthdays, and the restaurant sent over two pieces of cheesecake to help us celebrate – what a lovely gesture. And a plus, they offer complimentary valet parking.
We sat in a booth in the bar to watch college football
Our sever was Cary and she was fantastic- I mean really exceptional.
We ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer - I didn’t count but it was full meal even with two of us splitting it.
The special was magi mahi-mahi with green beans and potatoe in a lobster sauce. It was very good but after eating all the shrimp and a large beer I took home and had the next day. It was still very good.
Another in our group ordered salmon and it was very tasty as well.
It was a nice evening and I’d recommend the restaurant
We had a nice brunch, good food overall. But the food took a long, long time to arrive, the server explained that she had the kitchen re-do one plate since the eggs were overcooked. That was nice of her, but still for a restaurant less then half filled the wait was too long. Also the music was too loud and not interesting, just annoying. But we will still go back in the future
This is my second time at Michael's. Everything was good until we were ready to pay the check. Our waitress disappeared. We sat there for a while hoping someone would come over, but eventually we had to get up and asked for someone to charge our cards. It kind of puts a damper on your time when you are sitting and waiting for such an extended period of time to cash out. The waitress had left for the day, didn't tell us, and it didn't seem that anyone had taken over her section.
I dine out fairly often for lunch and Michael’s is a frequent selection. The food, staff and general ambiance appeal to me and allows me to overcome some of the parking shortcomings. That being said, selecting different times to dine allows me to not have any parking inconvenience.
Thank you Michael's for fulfilling our request to be seated in the main dining room. With my wife needing to use crutches while recovering from foot surgery, it was nice to get out for a good meal and not have to navigate through a crowded dining room to get to a remote spot. The maitre d' had a table for us right at the entrance and had us seated immediately. Our waitress Melanie provided us with great service and was very knowledgeable about the menu.
Cream of crab was loaded with nice lumps of crab. I had a burger which I was disappointed, should have stuck with my original plan to have crab cakes. It was tasteless. My daughter enjoyed her blt and my son in law liked his chicken and waffles. Wish there were better red wine choices by the glass.
