Michael's Cafe Ratings and Reviews
I dine out fairly often for lunch and Michael’s is a frequent selection. The food, staff and general ambiance appeal to me and allows me to overcome some of the parking shortcomings. That being said, selecting different times to dine allows me to not have any parking inconvenience.
Thank you Michael's for fulfilling our request to be seated in the main dining room. With my wife needing to use crutches while recovering from foot surgery, it was nice to get out for a good meal and not have to navigate through a crowded dining room to get to a remote spot. The maitre d' had a table for us right at the entrance and had us seated immediately. Our waitress Melanie provided us with great service and was very knowledgeable about the menu.
Cream of crab was loaded with nice lumps of crab. I had a burger which I was disappointed, should have stuck with my original plan to have crab cakes. It was tasteless. My daughter enjoyed her blt and my son in law liked his chicken and waffles. Wish there were better red wine choices by the glass.
Sorry entrees Prime Rib was certainly not Prime Beef, not even Choice ,cut and tasted like Good.
Fish and Chips no way it was Cod ,it looked and tasted like Talipa. Drink prices were up their and Skimpy.
Service was good but the above items will tell us thats it for Michaels Cafe.
It has been 10 years since I have been back to Michaels. It was always a special place to come and eat their crab cakes....and used to go there 6-7 times a year when I was working in Baltimore....was very dissapointed as there was more filling in the crab cakes than before and not as tasty...receipe must have changed or they are skimping to keep prices down. Shame....
Passed by for years but never stopped in before. Restaurant was packed on a Saturday afternoon, but they are large enough to accommodate. Brunch menu's healthier options were all great. Acai Bowl and Banana Split yogurt fruit granola sunday. French toast was delicious. Eggs bene with filet/gruyere was a pass unfortunately- grey bland filet and under poached eggs with runny, still clear whites. English muffin texture was doughy, soggy and undertoasted. Otherwise, service was super friendly ( albeit, not terribly fast) and food was otherwise generally good with a few true bright spots. Anywhere with such a large menu usually struggles to do it ALL well, so you just have to order well. Original section is definitely dated, but I would love to come back and sit in the airy and light addition with friends for a drink. Cocktails looked promising!
My husband took me there for out 21st Wedding Anniversary and I would definitely recommend Michaels Café.
The food was great but our server Samantha was even better -- we enjoyed the attention and bright personality she provided not just to use but to other diners that were in our area.
Three of us went to Michael’s Cafe on a Thursday afternoon and couldn’t believe how crowded it was - I was very glad I had made a reservation. Our server, Skyelar, couldn’t have been nicer or more professional. Two of us had chicken salad sandwiches and I had a shrimp salad wrap that was delicious. Each sandwich was accompanied by a pickle spear and home made potato chips smothered in seasoning. We also shared an order of fries that arrived very hot and not greasy. We’ve gone to Michael’s several times for dinner but this was the first time we’d been there for lunch but it definitely won’t be the last time.
Our waitress, Karen, was super. My sandwich was OK but it was partly my fault as I had read the description wrong and asked for some changes which did not turn out for the best.
So my food was just OK; my husband's sandwich very good. The fries again just OK
We split a piece of cheese cake which was absolutely excellent.
So mixed review for Michael's.
The two people in our party who had steak were immensely pleased--as was the one who had rockfish. But the one who had oysters was disappointed and thought the were overcooked.
We got a nice the quiet table (booth as requested). We were celebrating four birthdays--and were delighted with the complimentary cheesecake desserts. Than you!
The food was excellent, but the service was horrible! Our waiter seemed to have too many tables. We asked for things several times before receiving them. It took a long time for him to take our order. Then we waited a long time for the food to arrive. We had two small children who were amazingly patient during the whole time.
The menu offers something for everyone; we enjoy the crab cakes, the raw PEI oysters are "to die for" at really fair prices; rock fish is available, the steak offerings look inviting and most entrees are available with lump crabmeat. Prime rib specials on Thursday nights; hard top beat this place!
Went for a special birthday brunch. We were in a side room that was small and hot and loud due to two other groups in there. The food was slow to arrive and not great. Poached eggs were hard boiled on several of our meals. The corned beef hash was sad, with a few meat shreds and undercooked brussel sprouts mixed into the standard breakfast potatoes. Four of us ordered it and it was all the same. At least there was a bottomless mimosa. So disappointed because we've had good meals there in the past. Might be a while before we go back for brunch.
I thought the restaurant’s ambiance was very nice, along with the location. The restaurant is perfect for a casual evening out. I was prepared to have a great evening dinner because I was really impressed by the way the restaurant looks. It could’ve been just the waiter (name I forgot) that helped us this evening. The place was very busy but our service was very slow. I would’ve blamed it on how busy the place was but they appeared to have more than enough waiters and waitresses. I love Italian food and the food wasn’t that great for an Italian restaurant in my opinion.
We went to Michaels to celebrate Mom's 92nd birthday. Many of her friends have gone there and rave about it. We had been once for lunch and it was good. We were there early and there were few customers, but it filled quickly during the time we were there. The food was good, hot when served and attractive to look at. One of us has food allergies and our server knew what ingredients were in dishes, so nothing was a surprise. Our server, Mary, was very attentive. We had taken our own birthday cake and they presented it after we were through with our meals. It was a very nice place to go and we would recommend it for brunch on Sunday, lunch and dinner.
We were there on a Sunday night at 6:00. Service was prompt- our server, while she forgot a salad for my mom, was great. It was my daughter's birthday and she brought the dessert out with a candle. I'm embarrassed that I do not remember her name, but she was very friendly and on-point.
Three people at our table had crab cakes; personally I thought they were great but for the kids there was a little seasoning in there that made it spicy. Adults would be fine with it. I had the mahi mahi special. While it's accompaniments were delicious, the fish was pretty bland.
I would say over-all, it's a nice place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. Oh- ask for a booth! Our table was close to the center and it was a little difficult to hear each other and not as intimate.
