Michael's Back Door Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We have been to Michael's many times over the past several years, and have always come away happy. Friendly, courteous, and professional service combined with outstanding menu choices and quality continue to be the rule, making our Valentine's Day Dinner something special this year. Highly recommended!
We love our outings to Michaels. We always feel so welcome and anticipate an evening where we get fabulous service, fabulous food and a beautiful environment to enjoy it all. We look forward to our next visit when we leave. There are so many choices for dinner get togethers, but we Will always choose Michaels because
We love supporting a restaurant that truly appreciates our business .Kudos to u all. Peg and Stew
Very nice and small Italian restaurant with great food. Service is excellent. Food we ordered baked wild rain trout is very tender. Salad with wild mushroom is exceptional. Penne pasta is excellent. The only food not so satisfied is the the pasta with tomato sauce. Sauce was too liquidity and pasta was overly cooked.
Restaurant was very busy so service was slower but still Ok.
Was given fruit as a gluten free option for dessert with no problem.
Plenty of variety & I have never been disappointed with the food.
One visitor remarked that he'd been all over the world travelling & never met anything as good as Michael's Backdoor!
I went to Michael's Back door with same people a year ago and the pasta was out of this world. My client raved about it even at a later date. I must admit I was not as thrilled with the pasta this time round. Cannot put my finger on it. Beet salad was good but a bit too much vinegar. Client said his vegetable soup was delicious. Dessert was very good. I think maybe I should not have ordered the taste of Clarkson.
Dining at this restaurant is always a wonderful experience. The food is great but what always stands out to me is their staff. Our waiter (Carlos) has the best attitude, makes you feel welcome and will certainly make you laugh a few times. I especially loved this time as it was my Mom's birthday and they surprised her with a sweet treat at the end - very nice touch.
Good food with some service errors. Overall service was a little on the slow side. At the start, wine glasses smelled of dishwashing cleaner. Later, sediment was poured into three of four glasses. Was told that older wine has sediment. No duh. The complaint was about sediment in the glass not sediment in the wine. Wait staff should know how to pour wine.
The service and food were excellent. My husband chose from the fixed menu and had Caesar salad, trout and passion fruit dessert. Very reasonably priced. I had the special which was the beef short rib with sweet potato gnocchi..to die for! Our friends both had pasta dishes and they were also excellent. It’s a very nice warm inviting restaurant as it wasn’t too loud..
I had been going to Michael's Back Door since I was a kid in the 80s. After moving away years ago, I hadn't been there for ages, and then it popped up on an OpenTable search as an opportunity to go for New Years Eve dinner. As I reminisced, it was excellent, and the food spectacular. Amazing to see founder Michael Morra Sr still shaking hands with guests and then clearing tables after they'd gone. This man is no stranger to hard work, even while 'retired'. I look forward to bringing my lady there back several times in 2018!
I was fortunate to be able to adjust my reservation to a larger number the day before directly with the restaurant as I was not able to do so on "Open Table" Initially felt rushed but we were able to complete our meals and dessert within two hours and enjoy conversation with our friends
We have been to your restaurant 3 times now and find it excellent. we especially like the atrium in the summer months. The only thing I would change is move the tables further apart so we don't feel crowded in. The food and the atmosphere and the waiters are all excellent.
We were going back after a very long time - maybe a 5-6 years. We remember the place being very busy. So were surprised to see the place not full at all for a Friday night. Possibly Saturdays are much busier.
The service was excellent, no doubt.
As for food, it was OK but nothing extraordinary. We remember having better experiences in our previous visits.
Hubby started off with a split pea soup followed by rack of lamb which he liked. I had Arugula and pear salad which was quite nice but the chicken entree was so-so.
Desserts were awesome - Sticky Toffee Pudding and the Toblerone Mousse.
The speciality coffees were awesome as well.
Will return after a few years if the menu changes...but certainly, if it is your first time, do try it out. Service is very good..
My wife and I took one of our children for a nice dinner out last Thursday evening. The food was great and the server was very hospitable. The only wrinkle that evening was a woman eating alone at the table next to us. She spoke very rudely to the server when he stood in the centre of the room trying to get reception for the card reader - she told him to move to the corner! He apologized and did his best to defuse the tension. I hope she reads this - you behaved like a boor.
