Michaelangelo's Ristorante Italiano Ratings and Reviews
The Prosciutto Di Parma e Melone had too large of a tasteless honeydew.
The Insalada Di Rucola con limoncello was nice to be able to get it without onions but the arugula had no peppery flavor and was just flat tasting.
The Risotto con porcini e Tartufata doesn't list garlic and it was overpowering with garlic...could not finish it.
The Ravioli both quarto formaggi and di bufala were very good.
Your bread is wonderful.
The restaurant was not busy for an early dinner reservation. Not sure they were entirely on their game that night. I ordered a salad that was essentially tasteless and not worth the price. The gnocchi and tortellini entrees were tasty but order the small portion unless you have a huge appetite. Service was fine but there were only three tables occupied in the entire restaurant, so I would expect it to be good. The table next to us had to have corrections made to their order several times before it was done properly. I should have sent the salad back as it was definitely sub-par. This place was recommended by a local who travels and dines out extensively, so we were surprised at the mediocrity of the food.
Each plate is a work of art. The veal scallopine, bison filled ravioli and cucumber salad were all excellent. I had the pork chop special. The pork was tasty but tough. By slicing it thin I avoided the toughness. FWIW, the Wall Street Journal just had an article that after years of breeding leaner hogs, restaurants are demanding fatter hogs because pork chops are tough! If you like a Manhatten cocktail be sure to try the Galliano Manhatten.
We often go to Michaelangelo's for dinner. My mister had the tuna special this time and it was delicious! Our go-to favorites are the antipasti platter, risotto, involtini melanzane, insalata caprese, and the calamari. We like the small plates. Everything is prepared expertly and is delicious.
Visited while on vacation in Big Sky. Pastas were delicious, especially the wide pasta ribbons with wild game ragu. Dynamite dish. Most pastas can be ordered in half sizes, which were perfect for our 10 year old kids. Modern interior but extremely comfortable - not pretentious in the least. Excellent place for families or for a date night.
We have dined at Michaelangelo's Ristorante many times and have always been very pleased with the food, ambiance, and service. I especially like the melanzane involtini, the caprese salad, the antipasto platter, the calamari. The small plates usually are large enough to share which I like to do so I can have the pleasure of tasting more items on the menu.
My husband and I dined here for my birthday. Our dinner there on a prior evening was in the bar and sitting there is very nice. This time we were in the dining room and the ambiance was very nice. The food was quite good but the server was the star of the evening. He was quietly professional and tended to all our requests. He made sure our water glasses were never empty and kept topping off the wine without request. A truly memorable and enjoyable evening.
We found this restaurant using yelp. We were originally looking for a casual Italian restaurant, so initially we were having second thoughts about our dinner selection. Once we settled in to our seats, we found an absolutely wonderful experience. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The menu selections were well delivered. The chef is extremely talented and I believe the food is well worth the price. I strongly recommend anyone visiting Big Sky to go here for a meal.
Pretty good food and terrible service. Waitress was conspicuous by her absence and very defensive when she apparently forgot to order our starter of calamares and served the tiny portion to is after salad and with the pasta starter course. She told us that this was standard at Michaelangelos.
The reservation was also botched as we asked for 6:30 and were told on the internet that nothing was available but 6:00 or 7:45, so we chose 6:00. At 6:30 there were at least seven tables availabile, half a dozen at 7:00 and available tables up until the time we left at about 8:20.
This is not in the top restaurants in Big Sky and not even in the Meadow area. Eat here only if someone else is picking up the tab!
Waited for everything. Waited for a waiter to show up. Waited for drinks. Waited for salads. Waited for entrees. Waited for our check.
Then, on the way out, the hostess looks upfront her texting..to say goodbye.
This place needs to be shaken up so the staff does more than be "nice".
