Our experience at Michael Smith was exquisite! Exactly the fine dining experience we were looking for. Haven’t found another state-side restaurant that serves iberico ham! Having Michael and Nancy so accessible made our evening very personal. Delightful.
A very nice dinner on the evening before Valentine's Day. Food was very good, we both had the eight hour pork roast .
It's a quiet and sophisticated reasturant, enjoyed the experience!
Food was overpriced for the quality and quantity. We have eaten in Michelin starred places for less.
On a brighter note, the rabbit gnocchi was extremely tasty and the hands down favorite of our party.
Service was stellar, as well was wine/drinks selection.
Love eating here! It is our go to for special occasions and just a great time out. Only thing we dislike about the whole experience is the long booth seating. The booth is kind of tall for short people. Otherwise perfect!
visited for a pre-symphony dinner date. we knew the food would be delicious, but we were absolutely blown away by how yummy everything was. the prosciutto di parma, rabbit gnocchi, and chicken piccata were supreme. our server Ashley was helpful guiding us through both the wine list and the menu. she was nice and attentive without being overbearing. we truly enjoyed ourselves and look forward to our next visit!
Sean was superb! All of his recommendations were spot on. Saffron crab pasta is a must. Filet and scallops were fantastic. Atmosphere is fun inviting and refreshing. Lighting is perfect.
These may seem inconsequential but for the perfect romantic date night, its a must.
Ask for SEAN for the perfect evening.
Food was outstanding. This was one of the best meals we've had in a long time. I went to compliment the chef and learned that he and Nancy were out of town. The restaurant didn't miss a beat.
Food is always outstanding. Great wine selections as well as attentive, knowledgeable service.
Our server, Jessie, was so nice and the food was amazing. You definitely get what you pay for.
Was a great atmosphere and it was a great experience dinning at the restaurant at this level... the taste menu with wine pairing was a journey I will travel again!!
What a beautiful evening! Food was outstanding, staff were pleasant and not pretentious, and I'm not gonna lie - it was pretty cool to get to shake Michael Smith's hand. Culinary rockstar!
Outstanding food and service
The constant creativity and combination of flavors combined with outstanding service keeps us coming back regularly
I wanted a quiet charming evening so I made a reservation on a Wednesday night. I only went to PUBLIC school but I KNOW most people go out on the weekend so if I don't want to be in a busy restaurant I shouldn't make a reservation during a time most people go OUT! THAT way I'm not mad. No one writes a dumb review about a restaurant being "too noisy" or being "overly crowded". I was AWARE of my needs and met them MYSELF like an adult. Going on.... everything was elegant and blissful. Food is inherently human. Machines are precise and robotically accurate. So when HUMANS participate in HUMAN activities one should constantly strive to understand the essence of HUMANity. The host was pleasant. The server (yes people don't say "waiter", "stewardess" or "dialup" anymore) was pleasant so WE out of natural reaction to a kind person were ALSO pleasant. We decided beforehand to indulge in the 6 course tasting. The SERVER was attentive and inquired about any dietary needs which was not applicable since the SERVER isn't a DOCTOR. Forgive me, I tend to say "the" server because no one is "mine". THEY are their own person. "My" server, "my" drink, "MY" meal... THAT meal is the artful sum of a complex and symphonic equation interwoven with ideas, schedules, passions and responsibilities comprised of farmers, culinary educators, architects, immigrants, dreamers, angry people who didn't want to get up at 4 a.m. and make deliveries! What COULD follow would most likely sound like a review inspired my various food writing Google searches. You've read that. Flowery descriptions of silken reductions, notes of pencil shavings, and terms such as "eats like". As in... this review reads like a marginalized servers manifesto. Thats because it is. Life's short. Don't be a jerkface.
I think Michael Smith restaurant is one of the 2 best restaurants in town. The food is innovative and well-prepared and the portions are reasonable. I love dining here because it's such a treat to read the menu and to hear what the servers recommend, and then to find that the dishes are every bit as good as they promised.
We were early and enjoyed a pre-dinner glass of wine at the bar in Extra Virgin. We were seated early and received service immediately. We all chose from the Restaurant Week menu. The rigatoni alla Amatriciana was outstanding! Our group tried all main courses. The chicken piccata was good. The 8-hour pork was delicious. Dessert of apple turnover was enjoyed. The sticky toffee pudding was okay, not really delicious. We would try this restaurant again. That it was in front of a streetcar stop was a bonus for ys.
