Overpriced for what the end result is. Portions could use some improvements
Excellent for creative fine dining. We were lucky to have a special 5 course prix fixe lunch.
Every course was wonderful in both taste and presentation. The cocktails are very creative, too.
Service was attentive without being intrusive. We will go back for dinner to try their 7 course
prix fixe menu.
Excellent food. A little too lengthy of a wait between courses. Wine didn't come with beef course, as requested.
We went for the 5-course lunch. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was a little slow, but we could wave down anyone and they were all helpful, if we needed something.
Didn’t recognize our special occasion but celebrated the birthday at table next to us. Awkward.
Very nice setting with good spacing between tables and interesting middle-eastern music playing. We went for lunch and found the tuna tartare with quail egg and steak with peppers top notch. Service was very good until the end when everybody seemed to disappear. It comes close to 5 stars overall.
They serve dinner at lunch. Expect small portions, you’ll need to order multiple courses to be satieted.
Excellent restaurant. One of the best in San Francisco.
I came here on my birthday! We had the 5-course tasting menu. The music had some Mediterranean vibe. Staff were all friendly and accommodating. While I get my car, Nathan stayed with my Mom outside. I received a personal birthday note from the general manager Giovanni. It’s my Mom’s first time here and she totally loved it. The oysters were fresh, the ahi tuna presentation, set-up was impressive, of course it was so good! The salmon and the beef cooked perfectly melted in my mouth. The mousse cake was light and not too sweet. My almond birthday cake had gold shavings on it and a candle lit. I highly recommend this place. I will definitely go back again and again.
Thank You Travels zoo for the deal.
Thank you so much to the staff of Michael Mina. You all made my birthday perfect!
Friendly staff, beautifully presented food. Wine pairing was lovely. Able to accommodate allergies (I’m Gluten Free).
Cons: we paid $8 each for sparking water and they filled our cups with still. Our server was quite annoyed when we asked her to split the bill.
Superb service with excellent foods! I have the travelzoo voucher so very good value for the lunch tasting menu.
Difficult to converse with loud music in background. Very good, attentive service. Wait staff good at explaining each course. Did not offer non alcoholic drink listed on voucher. Food good but not that interesting. More variety would have been nice. Three fish courses, one beef and dessert.
The service was outstanding, food and presentation was fabulous, highly recommend it
Terrible ambiance. Like a regular café. The old location was terrific. The knives and forks look like they came from my vmcittage. They used to be designed and lovely like the plates. Chairs uncomfortable too upright. Servers too quick to remove served dishes. Didn’t finish the condo first dish. Service was ok but the vibe from them was not great. Talked too quickly describing the beautiful food. It was magnificent. MM Dora’s great food. Almost too much to have 6 courses. Offer 4 or 5 at less money.
would have give 4.5 stars for food
The main server was not on top of things. He didn’t offer other food choices for people who don’t eat red meat.
Food was incredible. The service was very cold, borderline condescending.
Love the bartender
He was so nice and accommodating
Even though there was an incident with a homeless coming in and grabbing a knife and attacking the manager near the bar where I was sitting, the staff was prompt and considered my safety and moved me right away!! Beautiful and would come back In a heart beat for my birthday again!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This was probably the best meal I’ve ever had, and until now that honor went to the tasting menu at Le Bernardin. So, this is no faint praise. The cuisine is based on Chef Mina’s childhood in Egypt, so I tasted flavors and spices I’d never had before. Everything exploded with flavor. The service was truly stellar. Each person was knowledgeable, impeccable in their execution and still friendly and welcoming. I couldn’t have asked for more.
An absolutely delicious take on some classic Michelin style dishes with Moroccan flair. A perfect experience of refined culture.
The octopus, tuna tartare, foie/mango, lamb, egg pasta, truffle flat bread, and rib eye were amazing.
The scallop and sea bass fell a little flat. Also. The wine pairings were a little odd. Having said that, the wait staff were very accommodating.
Definitely deserves the Michelin star.
The service is terrible for a restaurant of this caliber. I have been a fan of Michael Mina restaurants for awhile but after tonight I can no longer recommend this place to anyone.
I took my daughter to this restaurant for a very special treat. We both love to explore new foods and the evening did not disappoint. What followed was a culinary exploration that was one of the finest meals I have had anywhere in the world -- including a handful of two-star Michelin rated restaurants in NY and Leon. We will fondly remember everything about that dinner for a long time to come. Thanks!
Incredible chef leads highest quality all around team. Extraordinary ability to deliver highest quality fine dining even with varied diets around the table. Somm team is exceptional with encyclopedic knowledge and engaging personalities. Service team delivers confident, unobtrusive service with proper balance of theater without being overly formal.
It’s our second time at Michael Mina. Hubby paid extra for the Maine lobster and Wagyu beef. Last time he got the caviar parfait. He said he preferred the caviar. The food at MM never disappoints. Very delicious. We both appreciated the Middle Eastern spices. That was a very big piece of foie gras!
It was nice seeing the pre-teen kid at a table close by enjoying the tasting menu. I appreciated the parents at the adjacent table who kept their preschooler satisfied with age-appropriate food and a movie on the iPad. But I would not and did not bring my young kids to the restaurant.
We celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary with a lovely 6-course with top tier wine pairings. Every course was excellent with the suggested wines, except the lobster which I thought was overwhelmed by the coconut saffron sauce and dampened the flavor of the Condrieu. Overall the experience was stunning.
Food was generally cold and not enough for the lunch value.
Food and service were outstanding. One of the best meals my wife and I ever had.
Visited on our 30th wedding anniversary. Wine steward (we ordered the wine tasting so saw a lot of her) and waitress (was not please when we asked the squab to be cooked more and was generally aloof) were stiff and not friendly. fish and meat entrees were not up to standard (sole, sea bass, squab, steak loin). customer sitting next to us was a former employee who asked us multiple times how our meal was and every employee came up to say hi.
Hostess and people serving bread and water were very friendly. Other courses were excellent.
Choice of dishes was poor. Service was good but courses served out of order with no comment unless we asked why.
Awesome pre-fix lunch! 5 courses...ours included oysters, tuna tartare, salmon, tenderloin and fab. dessert. Hard to beat, as everything was perfectly cooked, presented and fresh!
Very elegant cuisine, yet adventurous as well. There's a Middle Eastern influence to the spicing, but it's delicate and sophisticated.
Everything's of the highest quality and presented exquisitely.
Unique in a marvelous way. Everything was genuinely delicious. The staff was gracious and the room gorgeous. I had a terrific vegetable rich salad with falafel as a surprise. My Maine Lobster main course was beautiful and truly marvelous.
We really enjoyed the prix fixe menu. As would be expected for a restaurant of this caliber it was expensive but the flavors are fresh and unique. The wine pairings were unexpected (in a good way) that in some cases push you outside your California comfort zone. I thought a few of the pours were a bit light so there was not enough wine to get through the paired dish.
This was our first time and we were not disappointed. The staff, service, and food were exceptional. The small touches, e.g. giving us a little vial of spices at the end as a keepsake, were impressive. Highly recommend it.
More marketing than cooking, an insult to my culinary sensorium. Quite disappointed with the tasting menu and service. If I could, I would ask for a full refund of my time and money.
Stupefying that Michelin has one of their stars hanging here. When any establishment bears the name of its founder/owner it’s doubly disappointing.
Did I mention it was a huge disappointment.
We dined here on a voucher for a five-course lunch. It was excellent and there was plenty of food. Our server didn't seem to know what he was doing and gave us incorrect information several times. Don't bother to get the wine pairing. It was below standard. Our server told us we purchased a half bottle and could have red or white. We chose red which we had with the gazpacho, tartare, and salmon. Then he came back to ask what we wanted for our second bottle? I asked why he did not give us that option in the first place, and he shrugged his shoulders and giggled. Even with that, the Cotes du Rhone was not particularly, especially for $20 a half bottle.
Absolutely fantastic experience! We (my husband and I) went there for the tasting menu lunch for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. Superb ingredients and flawless presentation challenging your taste buds, opening them up into new dimensions! Maybe one way to enhance the whole experience would be to eliminate (or down turn) the music. A restaurant of this caliber does not need to add music.
Excellent in every way. Michael Mina’s never disappoints. Flavors were impeccable and creative, wine list is extensive and anyone can easily find something they like.
