Miceli's - Universal Ratings and Reviews
I've always loved Miceli's and go at least once a year. The food is consistently terrific, no matter what I order. I'm impressed with the remarkable musical talent of the wait staff who could easily be on the theater stage and enjoy their wide repertoire of songs. When you make a reservation, they get you seated on time. This last visit, however, it was terribly noisy. The microphones and speakers for the performers seemed to be turned on low volume because I could barely hear the music and vocalists. I've been there several times during busy Saturday and Friday nights and could always hear the music just fine. Perhaps there were unusually rowdy patrons that night. I've been there for lunch when there were no performers and the food is terrific even if you don't get the live musical show.
My family and I really enjoyed the ambiance and happy atmosphere at Miceli's-Universal. We celebrated my daughter's 20th bd party there. The waiters sang "Happy BD" to my daughter in both Italian and English. The food was also pretty good and the environment and service was great.
Miceli's, hasn't changed much over the years. The portions are large, the food is traditional old school Italian. It's good, not amazing if you like fresher, lighter fare. But if you want a big bowl of pasta and some Chianti, and singing and atmosphere - you'll be happy.
We were three friends getting together after not seeing each other for a few years. One of us had two children - an infant and a toddler. We went for an early lunch in the restaurant which was very quiet (at that time) and our server was very accommodating as well as entertaining the children. We had a great time and though we left a mess (the rambunctious toddler would not sit still), staff was more than happy to take care of us. It was good comfort food and we all enjoyed our entrees. Our waitperson really made our day by being very sweet to the children.
Absolutely an amazing and unique dining experience.
I was more than satisfied with the service the food and the atmosphere. I will be returning to Miceli's over and over again because I know that I will be nothing short of satisfied with this restaurant and there unique entertainment.
I will be recommending Miceli's to all my friends and family .
Thank you to everyone on the Miceli's staff for making my Valentine's Day the most memorable I have ever had.
We were seated right next to a birthday party of 15 girls and 2 boys! And when the did the cake it was right in front of our table, and when they left we had to deal with a 20 minute exodus! Oy Vay! Plus our server was mediocre. It was as though we were given to her last minute. She wasn't as attentive as I like my servers to be. And I tip VERY WELL when the service is stellar. And she didn't even serenade us and we were seated close to the band stand. Oh well. Next time we're going for the lovers balcony. In my opinion that's the only way I will be satisfied.
This place has such a great feel to it. The decor made me feel like I was in a movie set. The staff sings to you! They're all singers, every single one! It was so beautiful to hear them sing. It may be awkward for some people - being sang to is not for everyone. However, I enjoyed it and it normally makes me feel uncomfortable. Keep that in mind.
The food is delicious, fresh, and very filling! If you're a group of two, stay with one pizza! We ordered two and barely made a dent.
stopped in for dinner on a weekend. they have singing waiters which can get kind of loud with a drummer and piano player. I tried the spaghetti & meatballs - meatballs were mushy and bland even though our waiter gave them an enthusiastic recommendation. my wife had a chicken milanese which was okay. Waiter was friendly which helped. wanted to like the place more. oh well...
This is a feel good place. One of our favs to bring visitors to.
The food's good, but it's the whole experience. Our waitress took our order, then went up to the piano, and belted out a Broadway showstopper!
The whole staff was real friendly, except for the piano player. He played well, but seemed to be in a grouchy mood. Whatever, we'll be back. There's no place like it.
Been going to Miceli's for years and it stil tops our "Where do we want to meet up with..." list. A good late-night spot to split a ceaser salad after a show and a fun place to get together with friends. The place is loud, like a good party, particularly on the weekends and each of the waiting staff takes turns singing at the piano-everything from pops to opera to Broadway (our waiter had recently finished a gig singing in Turendot). But the singing adds to the ambiance, and the service-cashier, host/hostess, bartender and waiting staff-is always super friendly. A good price range of wines with some very good budget-priced wines (could use a couple of micro-brews for us beer lovers). The food is consistantly good, with the usual Italian cuisine staples-lasagna, manacotti, paramagian, piccata, etc.
A nice romantic Italian restaurant near Universal City with very good food. If you want pizza, their Pizza House 4 toppings of your choice is a sure pleaser. What sets this restaurant apart from just another Italian restaurant with good food are the singing food servers with the accompaniment of a versatile pianist. The food tastes that much better with the musical appetizers.
Wished there was a good amount of live music but unfortunately, we only heard a couple of singing acts and an instrumental solo. We weren't seated right away but once we were, our server was excellent and made sure throughout our dinner everything was ok. They sang a nice Happy birthday song to my mom and we were quite pleased about that. I just hope on our next visit, there will be more music since that was the reason we made reservations in the first place. Last May when we came for my step dad's birthday dinner, there was a considerable amount of songs and we enjoyed that very much. I was quite disappointed with the music this last visit.
Too, too loud for us. Lots of singing by waitresses and waiters but way too loud into the mic! Couldn't begin to have a conversation so we left after a short while. Don't go there for a romantic Italian dinner; it's not to be had there. BUT if you want a boisterous place with a community feel, go for it!---
We came here with a church group to celebrate a visiting Pastor/wife from Seattle. The Pastor said the food was the best since he was in Chicago! He will be returning when he comes back to Los Angeles. We loved the Opera singers, magnificent! I plan on returning for our next family gathering, thank you! Was an outstanding evening.
Total was about $140 so I left $20 cash tips at the table.
Cashier was followed to the parking lot before I leave and asked me anything wrong with service. He should be prudent before asked me about tip. I went with my VIPs and it was very unpleasant experience.
They should check table carefully before make mistakes.
