Mica Ratings and Reviews
We went to MICA expecting a memorable meal and we got it. The only recommendation I would make to them is to clarify their Menu options- there is ala carte, then a $49 tasting and sometimes(?) a $69 menu and I don't know which is which or when. The $69 menu did not appear as a choice the night we went (a Thursday) but the $49 was great.
This place is a treasure. The food is always absolutely perfect, the service is impeccable, and the ambiance is great. This time, we were seated in the back (we have always sat in front before), and it was perfect: much quieter than the front, so all in all an absolutely wonderful experience
Took my parents their to celebrate their 62nd wedding anniversary. They loved everything about it. It was especially nice that we could talk quietly at our table while dinner was served. It has a great cozy atmosphere and the food is amazing! It is my new neighborhood favorite for a nice meal.
Exceptional in every respect. We dine here often and
really can't believe how they manage to work in new and creative dishes (and some reinterpreted and modernized classics) so frequently. As a result, dining at Mica is always an exciting experience. Bravo!
I had another great meal here! This trip I took a different set of friends to experience this great little spot. We loved everything. My only comment is that the gougere were served *ice* cold. I understand these little pâte à choux cheese filled puffs can be served hot or cold, but ice cold was a disappointment. I think they would have been amazing served warm. My dining partners had the oysters and the plating and freshness is something they raved about, not to mention the tuna tartar, served with tuna that had literally just been delivered by their fish monger (and, again, was plated like a work of art). This is my new favorite find - and the fact that it's a BYO makes it even more special.
We've been huge fans of Mica for several years. It's unquestionably the best food in Chestnut Hill. We were a little uneasy after hearing that they'd changed hands and no longer had a liquor license but hoped for the best. And not only did it not disappoint, the food was probably better than ever. The liquor license piece turned out to be a non-issue (or maybe a plus). We brought a very nice bottle of wine (which probably cost us half what it would on a menu) and the staff did the corking and pouring without hesitation. Mica remains our favorite and we'll probably be back even more often now.
Continues to impress. As good as any foody-centric BYO in Center City. The menu is so creative, the setting quiet and serene, the staff absolutely perfect! In winter months tables are harder to get with the outdoor seating closing, so book ahead. The front room with a nice view onto historic Germantown Avenue is truly special. Thank you to the owners for bringing overdue superb cuisine to Chestnut HIll.
Can’t say enough about Mica I love this place! We tend to order a lot of the menu and share plates around the table and they accommodated perfectly. The food was amazing. I can’t think of one dish out of the entire meal (16 dishes or so) that had any flaws. Everything was delicious, well presented, and just perfect. The service was impeccable, all the servers knew what they were serving and could tell you everything about each dish. The best advice I can give is to go and try it yourself you will not be disappointed.
Food, space, service were all lovely -- unfortunately there was a very rowdy group at the next table -- in the small elegant environment of Mica their TGIFridays sort of behavior was very annoying--we could not hear our own 4 person conversation. I wished the Mica staff had asked them to keep it down though I acknowledge this is not easy to do.
Mica has climbed to the top of our favorite places to go list. Last night, we had the weekly "special menu," which was themed to New England. Every dish was noteworthy. The duck breast was amazing. We would be happy if every one of the four courses made it onto the regular menu.
Great restaurant!!! Yanni and staff continue to improve their skills at Mica. The attention to detail, creativity, use of quality ingredients and great service make for a wonderful dining experience, with the added benefit of BYOB. truly an elegant, exceptional dining experience.
We would love to have been wowed by Mica because we're close by but it just wasn't that special given the pricing. The best thing was the amuse bouche with the grape leaf wrapped rice, lemon oil and dill. We had the tuna tartar, the roast chicken and the tasting menu which was Japanese themed. I'm still trying to figure out how that meshes with an American fare restaurant but whatever. The presentations were well done but for the check cost (about $60/each inclusive of the tip) I expected better depth of flavor, especially in the chicken entree at $27. Wait staff was very good.
This was our third time dining with Mica and it never fails to impress! Although this was the first time dining under new management, we were still thoroughly impressed with the pre-fixe menu. Mica prepares bold combinations and unique flavors that always excite the senses. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was intimate. We look forward to our next trip to Mica!
Second visit to Mica and once again, excellent. This is clearly a very talented chef and his ability to use local ingredients and craft various menus is outstanding. Chose the country of the week tasting menu this time - France. Vichyssoise, buckwheat pancake, bouillibase, and profiterole with chocolate sauce. All superb and not a misstep from start to finish. Wait staff was excellent. Attentive but not intrusive and happily complied with requests. Would go here over and over again. Very impressive.
Food is always spectacular and service is wonderful and friendly, in a comfortable room where it's possible to have conversation. The weekday theme menus are a nice addition and the room was full tonight for From France With Love. Yianni is a gifted chef and his tasting menus are amazing!
Dinner there Seprember 9, 2017. Service was spot on. Appetizers and main courses were outstanding and very creative. We were in the back room with only two tables. One table of six and a table of four where we were seated with friends. Therein lies the problem. The table of six was noisy with no awareness of us...oh well, the food more than made up for it. BYOB is a plus.
