About Mia Francesca
The first restaurant in The Francesca's Restaurant Group, Mia Francesca features the zesty, earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. It was one of the first restaurants in Chicago to encourage the lively art of dining with a contemporary, casually sophisticated trattoria ambiance, simple, rustic cooking, friendly service and fair prices.
About The Francesca’s Restaurant Group: Founded in 1992 by Restaurateur Scott Harris, Francesca’s Restaurant Group has grown from a small, welcoming Italian restaurant on Chicago’s North Clark Street to a restaurant group of three concepts across 33 locations and four states. Based in Chicago, Francesca’s Restaurant Group currently owns and operates 23 Francesca’s Restaurants, five Davanti Enoteca, and five Glazed and Infused locations.

Mia Francesca Ratings and Reviews
We have been dining at Mia Francesca’s since 1993 - the early days! Went for a valentine’s Dinner and while it was easy to get and change our reservation, the atmosphere was just so so. We were seated upstairs (never even knew they had this option) and it just wasn’t the same ambiance as downstairs. The lighting and decor was just average. It felt like an afterthought. Service was excellent. My husband loved his meal, mine wasn’t my favorite I’ve had there but was solid. I was a bit disappointed unfortunately- but mostly in the atmosphere.
Mia Francesca is definitely a family friendly restaurant, with ample seating space and many options on the menu. We came with a party of 6 and had enough space to share food and enjoy one another. In terms of food, I’ve had better Italian (though I’m a bit of a snob since my family is from there). It was good, just not the best I’ve had. I had the Rigatoni Siciliana, which was full of flavor. I also sampled the salmon, which was good as well. Their wine is is quite extensive and the waitress was helpful in choosing. All in all, it’s a good Italian restaurant, by far not the best I’ve eaten at, and great for a large party.
Mia Francesca is normally very crowded and loud. With the snow storm outside, the place was relatively empty which means you could converse with a date more easily. The food was very good but the service, despite being empty, wasn't up to par. We definitely had to flag down our server several times, pour our own wine and wished he would come back with more grated cheese.
I wanted to love this place, because the main restaurant is lively and has a great vibe and my spouse raved about the food from a previous visit. The reason I lowered the rating was because even though we had a reservation that we were on time for and even though there were plenty of open tables in the main restaurant, we were seated in the "coachhouse." We had to go past the bathrooms, out the door, and into a separate small building to enter this so-called coachhouse. I felt that we were being led to the outhouse which started the evening off on a sour note. Our server was courteous and I would consider him excellent. My pasta was just ok, but the rest of my family loved their food. I don't think I would come back as I think they seat people with children, even well-behaved ones, in the coachhouse and no one likes to feel that they are second-tier customers. We are all paying the same price regardless of where we are seated.
I just recently went to Mia Francesca on Clark St. for a birthday dinner with 8 total people. I called ahead, made a reservation and brought up that it was a bday and the staff was awesome! Very friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic. They even brought out a few desserts for us all to share and discounted the tab! Would definitely recommend & plan on going back.
We hadn't been here in a while. Had a post-matinee dinner. Service was outstanding, food was reasonable and delicious. Table of four had a couple of pastas, the roasted 1/2 chicken, and a pizza. Everything was outstanding. We don't get to Wrigleyville too often, but definitely recommend for a great meal at a great price.
It was New Years Eve and the place was packed. They ran out of the roasted chicken which is what we have every time we come here. 25+ Years !!! Big diappointment. The noise level was off the charts but it was Nye so It was fun. Waiter was Surprisingly attentive and fast considering the crowd. Ordered only appetizers and left but still had a good time.
This was a great choice for New Years Eve. The place had a fabulous vibe to it that night, frigid as it was outside. Warm and cozy, with an on-time reservation. Even though the place was abuzz with holiday crowds, the service was spot on. They just know how to do it! We had not been to this original Mia's in a very long time, but visit other locations, and again found great ambiance, service, and food.
I love going to Mia Francesca! The staff are genuinely happy people who always make an effort to say hi and make my hubby and I feel special. We bring our kids with us and go there for date night too. The food is always fresh and they have the best lava cake!
Our server is a professional. She made us feel relaxed while we "tasted" the wine. She had great suggestions on what we should try. Overall, the food is delicious, the ambiance is just right, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
I love this place and would recommend it to anyone.
After our annual trek to the Loop for Christkindle Market and shopping at Macy's and Michigan Ave., we had an early dinner at Mia Francesca, one of our favorite Chicago restaurants. The service was outstanding, as was all of the food we ordered.
Even though we had more than enough to eat, we split a "Sloppy Sundae" for dessert! YUM!!
Mia Francesca never fails to accommodate requests for special seating, or modifications for dishes due to dietary restrictions. My favorite spot for a date night with my hubby and a great place for us to bring our kids too. Special eggplant salad and pork chops were too die for. Thank you Mia Francesca!!
Really good food. Attentive service. Waiter was there but never hovering. Only down side was that tables are jammed together and room was really loud. Seemed like a lot of locals. Really great to allow modification of ingredients. Located close to Briar Theater.
