Mia Bella Trattoria - Green Street Ratings and Reviews
Night before marathon tradition for years...questioned last year whether or not we should go again as the food and service were both lacking, but thought we would try again. Just like last year, many open tables---which should have been the first clue. Poor service, limited menu because of the race we were told (although this has been our 5th time and that hasn't happened before), some food came out cold, took over thirty minutes to bring refill of requested bread.........too many options downtown to not enjoy a nice meal, won't be going back next year.
Running the Chevron Marathon and wanted to pasta load the night before. Perfect downtown location near our hotel. The restaurant was busy the night before the race . We had a reservation and were promptly seated once we got there. The restaurant had a limited menu that night to accommodate the larger than normal crowds ( which was probably a good idea if the had more traditional pre-race selections). Pre meal bread was excellent. Calamari appetizer was less than desirable. Most disappointing was my pasta dish which seemed like a child portion. Once my wife say my dish, she know that would not be enough for me before a race, so she saved me part of her dish. Not sure if maybe that were running low on that type of dish, but very noticeable. The cheesecake dish was very good. Service was ok, partly due to being a very busy night.
My husband & I made a reservation here since we were in town for me to run the Houston marathon & wanted some good pasta options. What sold us was the create your own pasta options for me, since that gives me good control over what I’m eating. Once we were sat we were handed a completely different menu - no pizzas on it & no create your own dish. Confused we asked if we could order things off the menu & were informed that we could ONLY order things off the menu, they were not allowing any create your own dishes or pizzas because they thought it might slow things down... understandable! Except for the fact that this was not shared or advertised BEFORE we sat down to have dinner. Not only that, but how in the world does pasta slow down an Italian restaurant...? Our server was very sweet & helped me “revise” a menu item to fit (close enough) what I planned on ordering. Pasta was good, meatball was not, & my husbands chicken parm left more to be desired. Overall, not too impressed.
Service was a little slow tonight but perked up when we explained we had Theatre tickets. Everyone's meals were very good, especially the Mezzaluna. Three of the four at our table requested the same glass of wine but they didn't have it, so we all settled for second options. Service was just OK but food was good enough to go back.
The food was amazing! Our server was not, we had to ask for water and drink refills, had empty glasses and waiter did not ask if we would like to order another cocktail which is the money maker. Our plates were cleared, glasses empty and waited at least 10 minutes for the waiter to address us and asks "how is everyone" when we clearly had no beverages or food on the table.
We were in Mia Bella for News Years Eve and with the restaurant being totally full, the service and attention of the waitress was exceptional. The food was of the same quality that we have had in the past and is a reason that we always return..
Again excellent service and attention.
My wife asked for her salmon cooked all the way through (well done) and it was raw in the middle. We asked the server to take the salmon off the bill. I ordered spaghetti bolognese with stuff meatball. Very simple right? I received marinara sauce and a plain meatball with zero flavor. Also a very SMALL portion. Also ordered two bloody marys and the server only brought back one. The drinks also took a long time to arrive and the restaurant was empty. It appeared the server was new....
A friend and I went prior to the Lady Gaga show at Toyota Center. Several other concert goers were eating there and it was a fun atmosphere. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful. It's my new favorite Italian Food Restaurant in Houston. I will definitely be back and will bring other friends.
We had a great meal and a great business meeting. Super staff and food was spot on. Manager came out when we were finished and checked in on us which is always a nice touch. Am worried though not too many other patrons I will go back with my wife and friends. Very pleased with MIa Bella.
Not sure what’s going on at Mia Bella, but this place has gone downhill fast! It used to be one of our favorite Italian spots in Houston and a great dinner spot before Rockets games. But last night our experience was horrible and the food was pretty different than normal. Fried calamari had three times the batter and was so chewy we couldn’t swallow it. The entrees weren’t much better - chicken was over cooked. Even the cocktails weren’t going and hardly any alcohol. It was bad enough that we’ll probably never come back. Maybe new ownership? New management? Either way, it’s sad and $90 down the drain.
I love Mia Bella! They have great pizzas and build your own pasta dishes and the frozen Bellinis are so yummy! The downtown location is so convenient if you're doing anything at the Toyota Center you can literally walk there. Will def return next time we have an outing downtown!
There as obviously a communication issue with our waiter, more like he didn't listen! We repeated our order several times. They got 1 out of 3 dishes correct. Our iced tea wasn't filled-we had to continually ask for refills. The nail in the coffin came when the waiter told us the wrong order he originally brought our daughter was $2 cheaper than the one he replaced it with. Not sure how chicken alfredo costs more than the shrimp pasta. There was never an apology for getting 2 of the orders wrong. My husband just picked through the wrong meal he was brought. We would have stayed for dessert and coffee, but not with our horrible dinner experience. Will never go back there.
I hand the sea scallops Rizzuto, and the beef carpaccio, both of which were excellent! Also had a very delicious glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. Overall a very good experience. I would go back in a heart beat! Also had their menu clearly marked for gluten free eating, which I appreciate, especially in an Italian restaurant!
We made our reservation through Open Table, where we specified table inside. When we arrived, the hostess said they didn't note that on our reservation, and the only table available was outside. We waited :20 for a table to become available.
They were either short staffed or just not expecting the two large tables. We waited 1:15 for our pizza and one pasta entree, which the lasts
Date night before concert at House of Blues. Very convenient. Staff very attentive and well versed on menu. Food was ok. Wife had chicken Picatta and I had lamb chops. Picatta not very good, very muttled. Lamb chops were ok, not impressive. An opportunity to wow was missed. However cheese board was actually a great value for appetizer. That being said, probably very good for lunch and some comfort food to break up the days monotony. But would not recommend to be the star of the evening.
Noise! We couldn't hear ourselves think, let alone have a reasonable conversation. The waiter couldn't hear us, and we had to have him repeat most of what he said. It was not particularly busy or "energetic"; just lousy acoustics.
The food and service were pretty good, but I would not go back.
