Mia Bella Trattoria - Green Street
The AC was broken inside Mia Bella so they had us sit next door (the restaurants were connected). But they managed to keep track of everyone and knew who was there from what restaurant. Food was good-server could have been more attentive but I attributed that to the confusion and chaos with the AC/relocation issue. Overall pleased with my visit-would visit again.
Excellent service! Our waiter was outstanding. Food was excellent!
Excellent food and great staff. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic experience for party of 7! Antonio was great!
Retirement lunch. Somewhat warm. Maybe AC problems
The food was excellent. The only issue my wife and I had was this was Our was second time eating at this restaurant and they did not have air conditioning. We sat in the adjacent restaurant.
Our group was looking for a place to have a nice Italian dinner, and we are so happy we chose Mia Bella! Not only was there a plethora of options, there were also plenty of vegetarian options for a member of our group. This included build your own pasta, and the pasta is hand made!!! So delicious, and I wish I was in Houston longer so I could go again :-)
Enjoyed a nice meal out with our family, the service and food quality were great!
It’s a little pricey, but it’s downtown so what else do you expect. Great service, food, and atmosphere though. Nice classy place.
The air conditioning wasn’t working and they sat us under a fan, which helped, but overall were incredibly unapologetic about it. Food was ok but nothing special. The friend I was with had the crab cake and had to send it back saying it smelled fishy. I had the veggie pizza which was good.
Would not return.
Air conditioning was not working so the dining room was very hot. They did bring a fan which helped. Food and service were good.
The food was delicious however it was completely over shadowed by the heat in the dining room as the AC was broken and the Service was really slow though there was plenty of staff and the restaurant was only 50% occupied. I would have expected a discount applied to our check for the heat but no - bad form.
Ac not working, as per previous posts. Should give discounted meals as really unacceptable after this length of time not working!
The restaurant was uncomfortably hot. Also, although the food was very good as always, it took about 40 minutes to arrive. Too long for a week day lunch.
We went on Sunday morning for Father’s Day, so we had brunch. Service was quick and friendly. The warm bread served with olive oil dip is amazing and seriously could have been my full meal. I had the Mia Bella Italian Breakfast and it was amazing. My husband had the breakfast pizza, which is big enough for 2. My daughter had the pancakes and loved them. The music was soft and the ambiance is that if a cafe in Spain. People are so nice and food is delicious.
horrible food and service
The food and service was outstanding.
I didn't give it 5 stars only because the A/C was out and it was super hot and stuffy. The food was outstanding. Server wasn't very friendly but over all was ok. Would I give it another chance? Absolutely, Gabriela was very pleasant and super knowledgeable about the restaurant.
We love this restaurant but it was just too hot inside to enjoy our meal. Please repair whatever AC issue you have! We want to come back.
Not sure ... this was our first time at Mia ... A/C was not working, so it was hot inside and uncomfortable
AC appeared to be out and hot outside and then sat us by window where one guest had the sun on his back and was sweating throughout lunch. I finally pulled the table out to get him in the shade but then waiters kept hitting the back of my chair. The place was not even half full, not sure why they would put a reservation in a seat like that.
First time. Wonderful service and great food.
From the moment we arrived everything was amazing. Our waitress was very attentive, and the manager swung by to make sure everything was great. The food was so good! happy hour is a plus too!!! can’t wait to come back soon :)
Second visit to this location, air conditioning seemed to be out, but, didn’t ask
Food was great and Marco was pleasant (he added to a great experience)
Will return and will tell freinds
The restaurant was very hot which made it quite uncomfortable. Also $15 to park the car hurts.
We had dinner reservation before attending our prom. We were in and out quickly and the food was amazing. The management was even able to accommodate us and make room for an additional couple that was added last minute. We will certainly be back.
We loved the dinner and the service was great. Since we are traveling with our dog we are limited to outdoor seating areas, but that wasn’t a problem.
Overall it’s an excellent authentic Italian trattoria worthy of a try.
This was our third visit to Mia Bella in two days (no, we're not food writers). We enjoyed all three experiences, although the first visit was better than the second or third. On this visit our server needed three attempts to get our martinis right. Who's fault is that? It's difficult to know, because it sure looks like some of the servers get behind the bar. Anyway, the third try was a charm. As we did the previous two times, we again took the "build-your-own-pasta" approach. Here, my wife had papardelle with mushroom pesto--the mushroom pesto differed from that we enjoyed the day before, because this was a cream-based version (that was not advertised as such)--topped with pancetta, eggplant and grilled chicken. She did not enjoy it due to the presence of heavy cream in the pesto. I had spaghetti with pomodoro sauce, topped with spicy sausage, eggplant and mushrooms. This was delicious. I would recommend Mia Bella, although you have to be vigilant with respect to the various pasta/risotto sauces due to the possibility of heavy cream. It's a fun, lively place and a good value for dining out.
This was our second visit to Mia Bella, but first for dinner (our first visit was for lunch). We really enjoyed it with one caveat (see below). Once again, my wife and I each built our own pasta dishes. My wife had the linguine with pomodoro (tomato) sauce. She added eggplant and mushrooms as veggies and topped the dish with spicy Italian sausage. Grade: solid A. I had the penne with basil pesto, adding mushrooms and roasted red peppers for veggies. I topped mine with a mixture of grilled chicken (so so) and grilled shrimp (OK). The big problem: this was not classic basil pesto, but rather basil pesto cream sauce. This was not advertised on the menu, so I was very disappointed. I ate the dish anyway. It wasn't bad, just not what I expected. As a frequent diner and accomplished in-home gourmet cook I know my basil pesto and it should not be a heavy concoction. I would never use heavy cream. My suggestion to you: if you visit Mia Bella make sure to get explicit clarification regarding any of the pesto sauces you order. There are several options available, so just know what you're getting.
This was our first of three visits to Mia Bella Trattoria and this was excellent! It was also the best of our three tries here. Our server was great. We had perfect martinis, always a good start. For lunch we each tried the "build-your-own-pasta" feature, which is wonderful--everyone should do this. We each had the papardelle pasta with wild mushroom pesto as the base and added eggplant (you get up to two ingredients in this section). My wife topped hers with the lamb meatballs (a little overdone) and I added the grilled chicken (good job here). The dishes were delicious. Very good value; Houston seemed to us to offer relatively better value when compared to many other major US cities. I recommend Mia Bella!
I wasn't expecting a buffet for Mother's Day (didn't see it on the website), but everyone was pleased with the spread and quality of food. I'm a vegetarian so I would've preferred more meatless pasta offerings (a la cart, etc) otherwise it was nice and Mom was happy.
Our Mothers Day visit to Mia Bella was lovely. They seated us on the patio and it was nice to hear the music outside from House of Blues next door. The brunch buffet was good. I would have liked more food choices that were in line with my diet and more breakfast foods would have been nice. Our waitstaff was friendly and attentive. Overall it was a great experience.
The food was good, but the service was not good. When we got there , there was no one else but my husband and I and we waited like 10 minutes and I finally asked who was our waiter, because no one had approached our table. The waiter was a smarty pants and the place was sooo hot. It felt like they didn’t have the air conditioner on. I had a 50.00 gift card and they told me it was not good, when in fact it was good. Just a terrible experience.
Great food! Great staff!
When we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated promptly. We were there for lunch on my birthday. My family noticed our bread plates and silverware were all dirty. My husband looked over at the empty table next to us and their's were too. It was rather hot inside the restaurant. Mimosa was not good - low quality ingredients. Food was okay. 3 out of the 4 people at lunch got sick after eating here. I will not be back.
Great brunch cocktails. Complimentary garlic bread. Large portions, everything tasty and good variety of types.
The food was amazingly good.
Our meal started with bread with Olive Oil/Balsamic Vinegar for dipping. The bread was hot and delicious.
We had two appetizers, one of which was calamari. The calamari was delicious, but one thing we didn't like was the marinara sauce for our order, it had chili powder in it. It would have been better without the chili powder added to it.
We also had Wild Mushroom Struedel as our second appetizer that was unbelievable awesome and I highly recommend it.
Our main courses consisted of Seafood Lasagna and Seafood Capellini, with risotto and polenta as side dishes. I ordered the side dishes because my son had never had either and I thought he would enjoy them, plus the cost of side dishes is very reasonable. The risotto was excellent, as was the polenta.
It's hard to describe the main dishes, other than to say I still drool thinking about them. Large pieces of seafood where in both, and the capellini had three large sea scallops that were cooked to perfection.
I have been to many Italian Restaurants, this has become my favorite in the downtown Houston area.
Great food, easy to get to. We got lucky and meter parked right outside the front door but I can see how parking might be a problem. The food and service are worth having to hunt for a parking spot.
My wife and I had dinner before a show next door at the House of Blues.
The food was excellent and Antonio’s service was perfect.
We have always enjoyed Mia Bella’s.
Great food and great prices! Would suggest getting different to go cups for drinks.
