Mi Piace Ratings and Reviews
Every time that I go to Pasadena, I try to go to Mi Piace to eat breakfast, brunch or lunch (I'm only in Pasadena during the daytime). I love this restaurant! The food is great; all of it... from the yummy bread in the beginning to the fantastic desserts. Highly recommend this.
We drive 25 miles to eat at this restaurant about twice a year, but this time the pasta was disappointing. We ordered vegetable lasagna and ravioli al burro. When the bread is freshly baked, it is delicious, but many times over the years it has been very dry (held in the oven too long?).
We come here about once a month only because they're the only place I know of that make Pollo Lasagna and the calamari is always good. The most consistent thing about about Mi Piace is how bad the service is! Horrible every single time, we even came before the dinner rush this time to try and get good service but still THE WORST SERVICE!!
This place has been around for decades and is still popular enough to have a line out the door. An Open Table reservation makes all the difference. We had a pleasant experience, enjoying an upscale atmosphere, good food, and conversation. The service was friendly but slow. I ate every bite of my salmon entree.
Took my girlfriend here for our 1 yr anniversary & the restaurant did not disappoint. The lighting was amazing (dim but you could still the colors, your food). The staff from the beginning were very friendly & helpful. The food was amazing! Very similar to when we were in Italya few months ago. I wish we would have saved room for dessert because it looked delicious. Overall we had a wonderful time celebrating here & we are definitely eating here again.
Great place to eat. Food top notch. Unfortunately even though we had a reservation for 7 PM and arrived 10 minutes early we did not get seated until 7:25 PM. As Seinfeld says: " they know how to make the reservation they just don't know how to keep it". Overall very nice experience.
Great food and great service. We had the Con Pollo Panini with fries and the Old Town Special Pizza. The service was great and came often to refill our water and ask if we needed more bread and dipping sauces. They were just perfect by coming when we needed them and weren't over-bearing with their politeness. I would definitely recommend coming here for lunch or dinner.
We had to wait about 20 minutes longer than our reservation. It was really loud because we were seated next to the bar so we constantly had to yell to talk to each other. The service was just "okay." The food, however, is excellent, so if you can get over mediocre service, loud noise, and long waits, then I recommend Mi Piace.
Lunches at MiPiace are special. The table settings and attention to detail in the food presentation have always made this a favorite place for meeting family for a nice mid week lunch. The food is fresh with lots of variety in all categories. You can't leave without having desert and an espresso.
Overall it was a very pleasant experience and Mi Place. We had a party of 5 and I can say that the food was very good and our waiter was equally as good with there being such a crowd. I would have rated this a 5 star but some of the bread and water attendants need a refresher course on how to act around patrons and not have such an attitude. But I do think management needs to identify the culprits and get rid of them and the only way to do that is to mention here in review process.
Awesome place! We always keep going back! Last time we went, it was 15 min past our reservation and they were slammed with guest. We decided to comeback at a later time because we were on a time crunch. The manager apologized and offered that our next meal be comped by the restaurant. They didnt even have to do that, but thats how great the staff is! One time problem, has NEVER happened in the bast 8 years we have been visiting Mi Piace!
I hadn't been to Mi Piace in years and decided to meet my brother & his wife there for dinner. The place is still as popular as ever; VERY busy. Thankfully, I had made a reservation through Open Table and even though we were about 10 minutes early, they went ahead and seated us. The food and drinks were great. Our server was very friendly, and whereas it was obvious that she was attempting to give us good service, the busyness of the restaurant made it a challenge for her to be very attentive to us. That said, it was a pleasant evening and I would not hesitate to return.
Had a reservation at 6:30, came 15 minutes early and they had us seated right away. It was my girlfriend's birthday and they brought out the most delightful desert as a nice finishing touch to a well prepared entree. And it was about the same price as The Cheesecake Factory, but much more enjoyable with a lower level of volume. We could actually hear each other.
Their food and waitstaff are excellent, but the restaurant manager does not seem very professional. Booked a table for NYE that I confirmed with the hostess 2 days in advance that we could stay til midnight with a 9pm. When we got there, just after dessert was set on the table an assistant manager informed us that there was a 2 hour maximum and we had to go. This is despite an expensive multi-course meal with wine and pre-confirming a reservation that we would stay until NYE to celebrate. The food was good but they brought entrees while we were still eating appetizers...the restaurant seems to suffer from a poorly managed house. I hope they can get their act together because this could be a pretty top notch place if properly run.
Our visit was on New Year's Eve, so the restaurant was very busy. We were seated within 5 minutes of arrival. Even given the full house and constant flow of people, the service was excellent -- attentive and prompt, but not rushed. The food was excellent. My wife's Pasta with Vodka Sauce was a little under-sauced, but my salmon was perfectly cooked, well presented, and very tasty. Our waiter recommended a wine to match our dishes that was unbelievably perfect. Possibly the best California Chardonnay I've every tasted, it made the meal, and certainly had the best "nose." We're trying to find a case to purchase. The Tiramisu was disappointing.
Where do I start... Do I mention the employee prepping deserts and touching food without washing his hands after touching various parts of his body? Or do I start with the fact that after checking in 30 minutes early for our reservation it took the hostess 37 minutes to seat us(a party of 3)? I will simply start with the poor service; it took 9 1/2 minutes after we were seated to be acknowledged by our server at which point our complete order was placed, 9 1/2 minutes later for the salads to show up and 30 minutes after that point for 3 very simply pasta dishes to show up. Oh and as to the food; it was average at best. Bad service just might be overlooked in lieu of amazing food but not when the food is average. Bad is an understatement!
This place was highly recommended by friends. When we arrived, it was hugely busy due to all the holiday/Rose Parade/Rose Bowl visitors, but we were seated within 10 minutes of our reservation. I reminded the host who seated us that it was my husband's birthday and she confirmed it. However, when my husband's dessert was served, there was no lit candle. After alerting our server (who was very apologetic), another dessert we hadn't ordered arrived with a candle in it. My husband's coffee was forgotten, but comped once we alerted our server. Although the food was tasty and service friendly, we will likely go elsewhere in the future for a special occasion/romantic dinner due to the noise, crowds, and chaos.
Took three of my girlfriends out on a Friday night.. our reservation was at 6:45 pm . We got there a lil early and sat at the bar for a few drinks. 6:45 came by and still no tables.. we didn't get seated until 7:36pm. The food was delish and key lime pie martini is amazing!!
We had reserved a table for 915 pm. We were kept waiting for about 20 mins and then one of the staffers came and told us that they are getting a table ready for us, since someone else did not show up. As if, we are lucky to get a table!
Food was good. We have been here before, but the service is really not upto par.
I am not sure I we are going back here or would recommend this place to any of our friends.
There are so so many good Italian restaurants in Pasadena itself leave alone downtown, I wonder why we should pay good money to be treated like this!
Also, we were seated across from the door. Everytime someone opened the door, we could feel a cold draft!
It's a hit or miss on good service. Food is adequate to good. Looks good and service is normally fast. I emailed once about a rude server, we've been there dozens of times and never got a reply. Proof that they don't care about service and the satisfaction of the client.
