It was just okay.
Always enjoy the food and the service. The chicken lasagna is the best.
We went for our anniversary and while the food was good, the ambiance was not what we wanted. Upon walking in there were a bunch of hostesses but took a while to help us. The restaurant was much too loud, I couldn’t hear my partner sitting across from me.
At 10 PM, the owner exhibits contempt for diners trying to have a conversation and cranks up the music to deafening levels and turns the adjacent bar into a nightclub. Everyone else might as well get the check and leave. If he did that a 11pm, maybe. But the dining room was still full. This capped a very unsatisfactory dinner. We had a reservation;and were still seated a half hour late. Service was uneven at best, food was forgettable. Plenty of good choices in Pasadena. Go somewhere else.
1) Stew arrived with small insects, like fleas(?), flying around, we chased them away.
I do not know for sure because of it, but my stomach was not good for a day or more.
2) Waiter was not kind, for example, as I ask what mi pierce means, he coldly reply "I like it" and walked away; well, I did not like it.
3) Linguine with clams was a little dry, bread was a little salty.
4)Table with 2 people was too small, and later packed with people both sides.
A very relaxed comfortable dining experience with excellent Italian Cuisine as well as efficient service. Since discovering this spot, this restaurant has become a favorite to take family, friends and business clients It never disappoints.
My husband and I loved our meal and service. My husband tried some sort of smoked whiskey cocktail which was really unique and amazing. We both had housemade pastas and shared an arugula salad to start. The only thing I would change is the lighting throughout the restaurant... it’s a little too bright and doesn’t seem to match with the food and service. It would be a better ambiance if the lights were dimmed a bit. Otherwise, we’ll definitely be back!
Loud music led to noisy conversations and made it hard to converse across the table. Service was spotty - not enough waitstaff?
Gnocchi dish was passable, sauce could have been better. Shrimp scampi was excellent.
We visit Mi Piace often for the patio and always enjoy it!
Food was good but service was poor. Waitress wasn't attentive.
We’ve dined her often. Their Greek salad keeps getting smaller and smaller, half of which is red onion. It was more a side salad than an entree. Glad I paid for the bread basket ha ha.
Always consistently good. Bravo Gil, mon ami français
My husband liked his choices--oysters and a seafood pasta daily special. My leg of lamb daily special was disappointing. The slices looked like they were cut on a deli slicer and resembled shoe leather on the plate. The accompanying green beans and white & brown bean ragout were tasty.
I have been coming to Mi Piace with family and friends for almost 20 years now. I hadn’t gotten a chance to dine in for almost 5 years due to being away at college and then law school...but I always remember loving this restaurant’s food, ambiance, location and even the the warm and eccentric owner. I remember him because since I was younger, I’d always notice this man with distinct salt and pepper hair who was there EVERY time I’d dine in. Every time, on the floor helping servers, in and out of the kitchen and visiting tables making sure all patrons were receiving top notch service. It’s unfortunate to read some reviews that reflect a poorer experience. When I read it i think to myself, “Must’ve just been an off day”. Restaurants have those, even though I personally be r experienced anything less than exquisite. Dining here for 20 years, on average at about 5 times annually....its always been so wonderful. During my recent visit on Easter, I looked to order my favorite lemon butter chicken piccata with angel hair pasta. Apparently this had changed on the menu and included mashed potatoes instead of the angel hair. I mentioned that to the server, and he assured me it would be made just how I remembered. My food was absolutely delicious. I came with my my mom and my fiancées who is vegan and tried Mi Piace for the first time. I was afraid he wouldn’t be completely satisfied there with his dietary restrictions, but he loved everything. He ordered the bruschetta, and a penne arrabbiata with sautéed mushrooms. He was in heaven. I was SO happy.
Was a great Sunday Easter's brunch. The food was excellent, same as the services. Very polite, and attentively Definitely its a great place for brunch, lunch or dinner.
Came for a 11:0 reservation. Coffee cream was curdled. Eggs Benedict: one egg was over cooked, and muffin was soggy with water. Seems like adult supervision is needed.
Ate here before, but was better. Not going to return.
Mi Piace never disappoints. We both had entrees we will order again.
I always appreciate coming here , my fiance and I favorite spot. Can't go wrong with there wine selection, always amazing .
Went out of our way to eat in Pasadena to celebrate my niece's bday - very good service, delicious food and wine, and free chocolate cake - who can complain about that? Enjoyed it - hope to come back!
My business guest asked for a dish off menu: no problem, cooked to perfection. Our server had a spot-on sense of timing. Just enough menu evolution to keep things interesting.
Great food. A little noise and hustle bustle but to be expected at at a really good Italian restaurant. We will return.
We reserved for my daughters birthday for 12 people. They had great service!
Men’s bathroom has to be kept much neater and needs to be remodeled as soon as possible.
Also the food servers should be able to bring a extra spoon, chili flakes, and Parmesan cheese ...we should not have to wait for the waitress or waiter to bring it. This has happened very often...I look forward to you fixing these issues thank you
Service was great always on point and ready for whatever we needed. We never had to ask for refills on drinks or bread service because they were always making sure we had anything we needed and the waiter was really friendly. The place is a bight tight to move around in but that does not ruin anything. Food was amazing and delicious.
I have come to expect great service and food at Mi Piace. So far, I have not been disappointed. It's a great place to go for a "nice" dinner out on the town. The wait staff is attentive and polite. The wine and cocktails are very good; even the house wine is very drinkable.
Delicious food and excellent customer service
Service staff was great and put us in a quiet corner to hold our business meeting. Server was
really good and took care of our needs; "seen and not heard".
Bar scene was lively and the restaurant was busy by 7:00 pm. Food was as expected from a good
Italian restaurant. Wine list had plenty of options that were well suited to our meal.
I would recommend this restaurant for date night, business, or just casual dinners.
The experience and food were very good.
Waiter forgot our salad that we ordered.................. .........................................................................................................
The server was attentive and friendly. The gnocchi was AMAZING! And so was the appetizer bread & wine. I will definitely be back.
Loved the bone in rib eye and the lamb chops.
Best bread in Pasadena.
Wonderful waiter. I must get his name and post it next time.
Food was amazing!! Had the Greek Salad and Filet Mignon!!! Seasoning was perfect, cooked perfect to my preference, medium rare, salad was extremely fresh and full of flavor!!!
Always love eating here when we are in town!
We Stop in Pasadena twice a year on our way to spring Baseball in Scottsdale. We found Mi Piace and now 0nly go there. The bread alone is worth the stop. Their pasta and service is first cabin!
Food is consistently high quality
Food: I had butternut squash ravioli with a burnt butter sage sauce. It was good but could have used a bit more salt. My friend had the fish special; said it was very good. Bread was very good along with the olive oil. We both had a glass of Malbec which was also good.
Service: wonderful - couldn't ask for anything better.
Parking: we parked in the lot behind the restaurant. When asked if they validated we were told no which was fine (parking is $8). We spoke with the waitress a bit about parking in the area. She mentioned the staff parks in the same lot and has to pay full price ($8) when they leave. We asked if the restaurant compensated them for parking. She said no. I was disappointed the restaurant doesn't pickup this cost for their employees. Her option, if she didn't park in the pay lot was to park a block and a half away. Well, who wants to walk a block and a half at night at the end of their shift? In addition to the regular 20% tip we added $8 additional to cover that nights parking.
Food was delicious, portions appropriate. Restaurant was busy for an early Sunday evening, so it was somewhat loud. Service was ok. Could have been a little more attentive.
I would definitely return.
This is the second time I come to Mi Piace. The first time, the serving staff were incredibly accommodating. My mom had surgery just a few weeks before and her diet was restricted, they were able to recommend something she could have in comfort. My mom LOVED it and was so happy to have good food, and not mush. We had a late comer to the table and they were able to move us quickly and with no trouble. Great first impression! I left good tips!
The second time was to take my mom and my sister for brunch. Food was OUTSTANDING. My sister had to leave, so they brought her stuff quickly. The drinks were great!. They have a very interesting take on the Gin & Tonic. Will definitely hit this place again.
More of a high end diner, but great if I'm putting it in that category! Wasn't the best for the occassion I went for, but food was good, service was excellent. It's a bit beat up, but I'd go back for the right occassion!
Food, service, ambiance, and music was all perfect! We really enjoyed a relaxing Friday night dinner.
We ordered a filet mignon and penne pasta which were both delicious and consistent with every visit. We enjoyed a chocolate soup after which is quite the unique dessert.
Our server was very friendly and attentive.
We were impressed with the great music selection that was playing.
