Spaghetti Alla Pina
Spaghetti tossed with sauted prince edward island black mussels, manila clams, garlic, basil and a spicy san marzano tomato sauce
Fettuccine in a pecorino, parmigiano, garlic and shallot white wine cream sauce topped with sliced black truffle
Always liked the food. Still good. Appetizers: Calamari, bruschetta--excellent. Chopped salad superb. Pasta was very tasty. I forgot about the service. Not the assistants --they were on top of it. The waiters and the maitre d/host. I wrote a note that is was birthday dinner, we wanted a corner table--only Opentable place that ignored the note! But I remembered that it happened before here. Waiter confused the wine and did not remember about the allergies we discussed--weird. But I remembered how arrogant the leadership is. Still wonderful food, if you can navigate the egos and the lack of attention to details. I have to remember not to go back.
We LOOOOVE this place. The vibe is great. The service is always so good. And the food is some of my favorite. I chose this for my birthday dinner because I really love everything about it.
Great place a little wait but worth it
My experience at Mi Piace is perplexing. First, the food was fantastic. Both of our dishes were delicious with a great presentation. The food met our expectations. However, there were some small details that could have made my review a lot better. First, when we were seated, they forgot to give us menus. My wife and chatted for a while and we didnt notice that we didnt have menus. Which leads to my next point, no waiter check on us for a food order. We had to wave someone down to give us a menu. When we ordered, we ordered some of their delicious bread, but they forgot to bring it to us. Our salad and main dishes arrived and we had no bread. I dont know why the service was inconsistent, they seemed to be very crowded that evening, but these are small details that could have improved the experience as a whole. I guess I would recommend the place, but go on a night that is not crowded.
I realize it was a Saturday night and it was busy they need to figure out how to give better service when it’s really busy. I asked for a few things and did not get them in any reasonable amount of time or they were not brought. I gave a 15% tip. I usually give 20%. Our waitress was really sweet and friendly. Food is amazing!
Baby shower brunch
Always very good
One of my favorites in Pasadena
If you’re nearby go
We loved this place thirty years ago when we lived in the area and frequented here for special friends and family gatherings as well as dates. We came back and loved every minute of our meal! Especially the Cesar salad, hamburger and fettuccine alfredo-so yummy and light! Truly a gem of a place still after 30 years!
First time guest at this well established restaurant with delightful food and service!
Delayed presentation of food. Waitress could have been a bit more attentive. (Past experience has been better )
Mi Piace ruined my birthday celebration. I consider this a management’issue. The wait staff were trying very hard, but overwhelmed. We arrived early for reservation and seated after 40 minutes. ( they did try to squeeze us in an unsatisfactory table), we ordered two drinks at same time recognizing it would take awhile before waiter could return, Water took over 30 minutes. The food was good. Everything else terrible. My advice stay away stay away during Coronavirus. Mi Piace ca not even handle a busy Sunday evening. This was one of my favorite places - no more.
The spaghetti and lasagna were absolutely incredible but unfortunately once again the service was horrific
Food is very over rated, and not nearly the quality compared to many years ago. Getting a side of pasta with a dish is a red flag of cheap “Italian” food and low quality. Understaffed, and had to wait a long time between ordering, delivery. Booths were ragged. Wait staff didn’t appear to have time to check in with us and I had to ask several times to order, for the food, and bill. This happened last time I was here as well. Too many tables crammed in there. All indicative of poor management.
Mi Piace is always one of the first restaurants we consider when the weather welcomes outdoor dining. The food is consistently top notch. The service is always attentive but not intrusive. And when our dog has just been groomed we head for the outdoor dining area to sit and show him off.
This restaurant came highly recommend. Overall decent experience. The service was under par. Not sure if it was because we went exclusively for coffee and deserts or just that the staff is super lax. Service and meal enjoyment go hand in hand. No matter how well a chef prepares the meal, of the service is below par, the meal is also affected. Even though the four of us only had desert and coffee. The total was just over 65$ so we weren’t cheap customers.
The food was delicious! We went for a special dinner for mom Emma! Our waiter could have been better on fulfilling our request for ie straws and giving better descriptions of the different entrees.
Food was incredible but service needs to be worked on....
Our reservation was for lunch time and there was only one menu available for our group of three. Three different servers offered to bring us the missing ones as they had indicated they had ran out. After getting menus it took a while before our water was also brought. Lastly, our table was the only one not covered with a table cloth and butcher paper. Staff minimized our observation and reluctantly set up our table correctly. Otherwise, food was great!
Mother in law birthday she had a wonderful time. Lunch was great for the 9 of us
There is no point in making a reservation because you always have to wait and I’m not talking 5-10 minutes, I’m talking 30-45. They blast Electronic Dance Music which is very off putting while trying to enjoy a nice dinner with friends and family. Food is ok, nothing to write home about.
Everything went well until my friend noticed a hair in the food. That was unpleasant and the restaurant still charged for my friend’s plate. I reported this to the owner when we left the restaurant. I like this restaurant but after this incident I’m not sure if i will return
It is always great. Love the food there.
Wonderful as always a must is the
Fresh Ricotta cheese
Can’t wait to go back
Went here for my 9 year anniversary, had to remind them we were here for a special occasion, which sucked. Food was pretty good. I remembered it being much better in the past though. Wasn’t my favorite dinner for a celebration. Sad that they charge $1.50 for bread service, such a waste. Should just bring people bread if they ask for it.
Great food and service! Whenever we will be in Pasadena, we will eat here!
The morning staff were great. We were early and they let us sit by the bar area to wait. Our server was attentive and adjusted the music down because we are old folks and a bit hard of hearing, so we can hear each other. This is the best breakfast place on weekends in pasadena old town.
Chose Mi Piace for 50tb birthday celebration with family (and noted that specifically on the open table reservation). However, there was no acknowledgment of BD by staff at all. Little bit of a letdown, but the meal itself was good. Since it is an option to note a BD celebration or other special occasion when making a reservation, the restaurant really should follow through with some acknowledgment. Or just remove it as an option.
Chef came out to greet us. Delicious food. Waitress could have been more attentive. Squash ravioli was amazing. Old fashion the way I like it. I’ll be back. Quiet at 5:30 on a Friday but full of life by 7:30
My friends and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at Mi Piace prior to attending a Speaker's event in Pasadena. The hostess greeted us with a smile and was very accommodating. We requested a booth, but we found the seats a bit uncomfortable so we asked the hostess if we could move to a table. Without hesitation, she very graciously moved us to a larger table. Our server took our orders and when the food arrived everyone was happy with their dinner selection. The Lobster Bisque and Minestrone soups were hot, delicious and perfectly paired with the wine suggested by our server. The chopped salad was also very good and the red wine blend Frank, our server, suggested made an excellent pairing. The sesame crusted chicken was flavorful and filling. After looking over the dessert menu, we decided we needed coffee and desserts to share. Not even a small morsel was of chocolate was left! Throughout the evening, we received excellent service! Water glasses were refilled, bread replenished, and our server checked back to be sure all was well and nothing was needed. Wonderful friends, good wine, delicious food, and great service made for a perfect evening at Mi Piace in Pasadena.
Old Town Landmark. Still the best Italian in the area.
Consistently good food brings me back. However, never getting seated even a single time even within 30 mins of my confirmed reservation is going to be it for me for this place for now.
Made reservation through Open table, got seated after 1 hr. What’s the point of reservation? Pasta was good, Osso Bucco was average.
Everything was great from food to customer service.
We arrived a bit late but managed to get the best table thanks to the owner who helped us get seated real quick. i made a same-day reservation.
We ordered the greek salad, Linguine with Pesto and Fettucinne Alfredo.
The salad and linguine were superb but the Fetucinne couldve been better.
Make sure you order the the Mi Piace Special for dessert (raspberry mousse).
The portions are good. A pasta dish is enough for 1 person.
The best Italian food ever! Great service and can’t wait to go back!
Despite having a 6:15pm reservation, we ended up having to wait about 45 minutes to be seated. They never really apologized for the delays. I ordered the sea bass special and was advised that it comes with a side of truffle risotto. When I received my entree, it only had green beans and tiny boiled potatoes. Also, the portion of fish, for the price, was tiny. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he just said “Yeah, they gave you those instead.” He didn’t offer to fix the issue. Also, my boyfriend’s pasta was was quite salty. Needless to say, we were both disappointed.
Favorite restaurant in Los Angeles! Delicious food and an excellent atmosphere. Great service even when it's really busy. So happy to have spent Valentine's Day here!
I made reservation at 5:45pm for two on a Saturday (2/15), the hostess had no idea of how to take care of us even when it’s already 5:55. I tried to talk to her about the reason we made reservation, just like Jerry Seinfeld in Seinfeld, was we expected we will be seated on time. The poor, extremely busy hostess said “if you want to talk to manager that’s fine, I’ll get him for you.” We were actually seated after 6pm. It’s just too crowded over there. And hire more people, please. I wouldn’t go back there anymore, and I know they wouldn’t even care because that’s the way they run their business there I guess.
Service was good however, we told them online and in person that we were celebrating a birthday, but never received any acknowledgement. We noticed others getting acknowledged for their birthdays. We did enjoy our meal.
Although scheduling a reservation one week in advance at 8:30 PM, we were not seated until 9:15 PM. I found this very unprofessional, since the restaurant should be considerate of other people's time and plan accordingly.
Our waitress was so sweet and the food was amazing! Their garlic bread is to die for.
We’ll be back very soon.
