The food was excellent, as well as the service. We did not feel rushed and everything was done perfectly. Highly recommended.
Brunch. Food very good, no bread service or offer for a brunch of eggs. No toast forthcoming after requested. Wrong drink brought after long wait, no coffee refill offered. Waitress not attentive.
This review is extra special for me. My hsband, of almost two years, and I went back to Mi Piace after 10 years. We started dating in 2007 and Mi Piace was our every weekend restaurant in the summers of 2007-2009. We went to have dinner, lounge and have drinks. When we dated, it was our favorite place to go. The ambiance and food was always so spectacular. This has not changed from our visit this weekend, but I definitely can say there is room for some improvement in regards to ambiance and service. We had a reservation at 8pm, showed up at 7:55 and were not seated until 8:41pm. My husband and I were not upset or anything, but definitely think it could have been handled better. When we arrived, there was no way or room to get in through the front door because there was such a large group of people waiting to be seated, waiting to add their name to a wait list, etc. It was quite hectic. We checked in and then headed to their bar area for a drink as we were told it would be about 10 minutes, that turned into 41 minutes. Nevertheless, we go grab a drink and the bartender was not very friendly and was rushing us to order drinks, as we were asking for suggestions for a drink. We made a final choice, based off rushed decisions, and were not even pleased with our drink, but to avoid issue with the bartender, we did not make a comment. Aside from all this chaos, once we were seated, the experience was so much better. First of all our server was impeccable. His attention to us, his service, his knowledge with the menu, and how he cared, was great! The food was perfect! I ordered the shrimp carbonara, WOWsers! My husband ordered the shrimp scampi and that was also so creamy and delicious. Lastly, we ordered dessert, which we never do, but the display of desserts was very tempting and well worth it. Overall, we will still make reservations and visit, but there are somethings I wish the restaurant takes into consideration. Maybe, setting up pagers to pass out to people.
Food was amazing as always. We had a reservation and had to wait about 20 to 25 minutes past the reservation time. This was a problem as one of the persons in our party has significant back pain and was using a cane and there is no where to sit. The waiting area is in the midst of the traffic area for the servers. I feel badly for them. By the time we were seated we were given a table that seats 4 and there were 5 of us. It was very tight and uncomfortable. I would not recommend this restaurant for a party of 5 or more unless they will seat you in the back. It was very crowded and loud and hard to maneuver in the restaurant.
Really good food but really bad service (waitress )
The food as always was excellent! The service in the beginning was fine, I was disappointed when I we were asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu and both of our beverages were empty. I would definitely recommend Mi Piace. The location, ambiance, and food are excellent.
It was perfect !! Looking forward to going back with my wife who loves Italian food
Food and service was great. Have not been there in years however it is looking a bit shabby. Need some clean up
My friends and I met for dinner in Pasadena and decided to try Mi Piace. The hostess was friendly and very accommodating. We decided to sit in the the lounge to enjoy the Happy Hour prices and menu. Our server was not particularly welcoming or friendly, but the food was good and the busser was very attentive and made sure our water glasses were filled and the empty plates removed. Actually he was more attentive than the server! The food was good. We had the meatballs, smoked salmon pizzettea, minestrone soup from dinner menu, lobster roll, braised beef rib, and calamari. Both the almond roca cake and the apple pie were big hits. Everyone was happy with the food, but not so much with the server. Will we go back? Sure, we will give it another try.
We had a reservation at 9.00pm. We arrived on time and we had to wait till 9.40 to give us the table. The service was really bad and slow. Waiting for 40minutes with a reservation is unacceptable.
We were 3 persons and when we were eating our last dishes, two of us finishes but the other one was still eating and the waitress remove everything from the table except the one was finishing and asked if we wanted to have dessert while the other one was finishing. we said no at this moment (because he was still eating) and then they brought the check without asking him if he would like a dessert once he finish.
The service was really bad, they should wait till all of us finish and then ask for a dessert to all of us.
The food was really good but because of the bad service I wont comeback.
Great location. Good good. Too noisy. However, staff was friendly and attentive.
First time I’ve ever eaten spinach tartanelli, which was delicious. Unfortunately it came with shrimp instead of duck as I ordered, but the duck pasta dish was really good after I sent it back
The best breakfast place for the weekends in Pasadena, South Pasadena and San Marino. It tops all restaurants in those 3 cities. Russell’s is around the corner and with long lines on the weekend plus the food is overrated. So walking down the block from Russell’s and turn around the corner, I found this gem. It is spacious, the food is superb. The service is amazing. The price is less than Russell’s. Quite incredible.
The food was good so was the service
The service was extremely slow and we had to ask for service a few times, i.e, for bread, for grated cheese, for dessert, for the check. I remember the grilled vegetable appetizer to be much more plentiful - we always order it. It was quite scant . . . maybe the price was lower - that I didn't notice. The food was hot and tasty, the drink at the bar was delish. We'll still go back.
Great food, as usual, but poor service. Took 45 minutes to get our Classico pizza.
Second time there. First time was lunch and amazing. This time I reserved for dinner and had to wait 30 minutes for my table. Food was decent but arrived so fast, as though they needed me out. Starter was taken away when they brought my entree out. I had only just finished. I was then still chewing the last mouthful of my entree when the server grabbed my plate, which still had my hand on the fork, and asked if I wanted anything else. Staff were pleasant however.
Food smelled, originally seated us next to two very loud people. Changed seats but acted all uppity
Sister’s big “50” birthday. They charged cake cutting fee as we brought our own birthday cake. HOWEVER, they only provided regular plates but did not cut the cake for us or do any “service” to earn that steep $5 PER PERSON “cake cutting fee”. When I made the reservation, on OpenTable, it asked what occasion. I indicated it’s for a special birthday celebration, it’s disappointing that they didn’t do anything (we actually shared a slice of cake with our wait staff). Ok if you were not going to do anything special, why bothered to ask if it’s for any occasion?? Collecting data??
The food was okay. It used to be a staple in Old Town Pasadena. But now with so many new uprising chefs and restaurants, it didn’t grow itself to advance. It’s sad to see it “age” with no grace.
Great service and delicious food. Given its location restaurant also has a great place to people watch.
Although made reservation thru Open Table, hostess did not ask if we had a reservation and sat us immediately. It was an early time, quiet at restaraunt so probably no need to ask. I received an email later from open table as a “no show,” eek!
Service is good, accept bussers need to ask if we are finished with our bread or meal. He took our bread plate and bread so quick, I didn’t have the time to tell him dont take it!
We tried the LA Dine menu... Perfect amount of food ! Very good too! Dessert very good.
Once restaurant starting getting filled up with customers the ambience became a bit noisy.
All in all good experience!
The $25 three course Dine LA menu was good value. Tasty food and good service.
Mi Piace is one of our favorite places in Pasadena and one of the best Italian restaurants in LA. The ambiance is very comfortable and pleasant and the staff are regularly very good. The garlic bread is fabulous and the food, wine and desserts are great.
Food was good. Salmon was excellent! We had a party of 12 so we were squeezed into a space. I would have liked a little more space. Service was ok but had to keep asking for water to be refilled for the table. I would recommend it. I loved the app it made it so easy to make reservations.
Consistently good. I had to mark “Food” down a star because I ordered bloody rare and was served medium rare. I ate it anyway. The server offered to get a new steak but i didn’t want to hold up the rest of our party of six.
We went for the dineLA menu and it did not disappoint. Server was friendly and attentive. Ambiance is casual, lively and classic. The prawns and lobster tails were fresh and cooked perfectly. The salmon, however, had a slightly fishy smell and was a bit under seasoned , though the texture was spot on. Overall good food. The only complaint is the tight seating inside. We could hear the argument of the couple next to our table throughout the meal.
1st time trying this place out. Went on a Saturday evening with an reservation, which I still had to wait an additional 20+ minutes for a table for 2. Seating is very crammed; I could clearly hear the conversations from both tables that was next to me. Overall, noise level was pretty loud throughout the restaurant considering it was a packed place-so, enjoying a conversation was not going to happen here. Food was delicious, tasty meatballs(I recommend)😋 but a charge of $1.50 for bread service I think is ridiculous; I mean its bread...nothing fancy.
I made a reservation for 1:15pm on Saturday. We were told we might have to wait 15 minutes or more for an available table. There is no where to wait except on busy Colorado Blvd... what use is a reservation? When I spoke up we were offered a table that was next to the door not only used by patrons but also by the servers delivering to patrons on their outdoor dining area. I let my friend have the seat against the window out of the fray. I spent the whole time with new patrons standing waiting for a table, either with backsides banging against my shoulder or knocking me in the head with bags or purses!
Our waiter was SO RUDE. Not only did I point out with my finger the exact salads both my friend and I wanted (only 4 salads on menu), he continued to repeat the wrong item. I repeated more than 3x what we wanted. He brought my friend the wrong salad. When we asked him to bring the correct one, he was so condescending! It took a REALLY long time for our salads to come after we first ordered almost 25 minutes for two overpriced chopped salads. Then, when we asked for the correct salad, it took less than 5 minutes for the correct salad to come. I ordered an Arnold Palmer, which I had to remind waiter 2x to bring, AND he still never remembered to bring it. Then, he tried to charge me for 2 drinks!
This is just a well placed restaurant in Old Town Pasadena, that gets away with charging $16+ for a chopped salad!
Don't waste time or money!
My sister was sick after eating the lobster in the pasta. Our plan to shop around old town was ruined since she had a upset tummy... 😓
Been there a couple of times on business trip. We made reservations for a party of 8 and we we crammed into a table for 6. 8 men its was uncomfortable. Food, wine service good. It was not that crowded, they should have rearranged a few tables for us.
Very disappointing experience. The food was way overpriced for the quality and quantity. I would advise all friends and enemies to stay away.
[Professional] management is absent. We watched the general manager drink and flirt with an inebriated regular customer. It was absolutely inappropriate to watch. The same inebriated customer picked up the knife I had accidentally dropped and rose up with a barbaric grunt and stabbed my table, completely unprovoked, lucky my hand got out in time. We had no idea who this man was or where his mental stability lies, sober or drunk. We asked our server to report this incident to the manager as we did not feel safe sitting next to him. The manager never came to address this incident with us. At least pretend to do your job! We watched the General Manager actually sit down at the table to continue deep discussions and drink red wine with this man. It was quite a ridiculous site. Both were intoxicated. We will not be returning. Our server, Sam, was great. Food came out on time, drinks were always filled, manner was professional and amicable. Food was just OK considering what they charge. Not worth it. Their [poor] management makes the Olive Garden look like a 5 star restaurant.
Definitely one of my favorite places to go as a date night or for a special occasion
Everything was prepared and served perfectly. Great ambiance too
Always go there when in Pasadena. The food is amazing! Service top notch. Highly recommend.
Food was sub-par considering the price. The lobster bisque was more of a lobster chowder and had way more corn and potatoes than lobster. I ordered the filet medium well and it came out burned to a crisp. I'll never be returning and don't recommend anyone eat here.
WENT WITH SOME FRIENDS FOR MY WIFE'S BIRTHDAY. SERVICE WAS GOOD AND FOOD WAS GOOD ALSO. PRICES IS REASONABLE AND WE BROUGHT OUR OWN WINE WHICH THEY CHARGE US $18 PER BOTTLE FEES. WILL GO BACK AGAIN.
Good Italian food in Pasadena !! Excellent Deserts for sharing.
I had a birthday request and nobody there had acknowledged it.
The food and service is always great. Wine list is exceptional and their craft cocktails are equally as good. Food is fabulous whether you just want appetizers and drinks or a full meal, or even an evening cocktail and desserts which are made fresh every day. Definitely my go to place in Pasadena for outstanding Italian food.
