They've changed the layout and vibe and the restaurant is now extremely crowded with tables squeezed in and loud with top 40 music. Totally ruins the nice restaurant feel and made it really hard to have a nice dinner and conversation with my older parents.
Great food. Great staff. Great atmosphere. We enjoyed our experience there.
Service was spotty then it stopped.
Music is loud and annoying.
Food is quite good.
The food was pretty good, the noise level was fairly loud, and the waitress we had would disappear every now and again. That said, she was very nice, and took care of everything, it was just extremely busy. I did have a bug land in my half serving (what was left) of my whiskey. They did not charge me for it, which was nice. And they had some of the best coffee I've ever had. I would recommend it. It was a fun experience.
Lamb chops were sent back twice: they were over cooked then under cooked. Salad was not prepared as requested: arrived with meat on the salad and dressed, rather than dressing on the side. There were so many wait staff but our server seemed to be taking care of all tables and not doing a very good job of delegating. We were very disappointed because we normally love the food even though service can be a bit spotty.
I am in a group that eats in the Pasadena area every Friday night. Mi Piace is one of our favorite restaurants because we Always have good food, there is a full bar and they split the check so each couple or single can use their credit card. There are a few "foodies" in the group and between all of us we frequent many restaurants in and out of the Pasadena area so it is saying something that Mi Piace is one of everyone's favorites!
Mi Piace located centrally in Old Pasadena, great location, nice ambiance. It was Friday night when we visited and the place was busy. The service was great, welcomed and seated promptly at 7. The waiter was nice and very conscious of refilling waters and making sure everything was acceptable. The food was very tasty and came out in a very reasonable time even though it was busy. We ordered 2 entrees (chicken scallopini with artichoke (could've given more artichoke) and lemon sauce and lasagna) and a caesar salad split. We also got bread which was a nice basket of ciabatta. We enjoyed dinner. Would recommend and would eat here again.
Have been dining at Mi Piace for many years. Always enjoy the service, tasty menu and ambiance. Once again enjoyed a delicious dinner.
Service was worst! Took 30 minutes to get a straw by the time it came it was useless and we asked two different employees
Ordered bread as start never got it!
Not once were we checked for drinks or anything and we were out there celebrating mother in laws birthday
I dont think i will ever return! Very bad experience
Service was awful, ordered items never arrived, drink orders were wrong and it took forever for someone to come to our table.
Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere. Would absolutely return.
After at least 50 meals at Mi Piace, I am sure to return, and so is my lunch companion--with or without me!
The food was excellent, I wished the service was not bad but ok. I would have liked for it to have been little faster. Otherwise my overall experience was very good
Terrible experience. Reserved a table but had to wait an additional 40 minutes after scheduled time to be seated. Why run a reservation system if you are so far from being timely. Table manager also didn’t seem apologetic at all, and it seemed like this was somewhat of a normal occurence.
We have been dining at Mi Piace for years and the popularity hasn't appeared to wane. This was the first time we have waited to be seated, with a reservation. Over thirty minutes woithout even so much as an apology. Diners, with reservations, were lined up along the dessert display case for the entire time we were in the restaurant. The pair in front of us had been waiting an hour. the bar, even with two bartenders, was swamped so service was slower than normal. Mi Piace can mitigate this problem (and it is a problem) by managing the number of reservations they accept better and by allowing for more time per cover at the table between reservations. There are many equally fantastic Italian eateries cpmpeting for business in Pasadena so, to avoid losing valued customers, a solution must be found, and soon.
Always great food and be sure to make a reservation even for 5:30 especially on weekends
Ever since discovering Mi Piace during a visit to Pasadena in 2005, our family has enjoyed making the trip several times a year from San Diego to Pasadena to experience the delicious Italian cuisine & ambience at Mi Piace. We’ve lost count of how many friends to whom we’ve recommended Mi Piace.
I have been going to this restaurant for many years when I'm in Pasadena or after theatre. It remains a staple of the area and continues to maintain a high quality Italian menu. Try the "Classico" pizza. Best in town. Also the pasteries!
Service is b bit shabby and you have to be assertive with your server.
Spaghetti Aragosta was fantastic! Great meal. Would definitely recommend.
Had a large group of 12. Very good food and service. Will definitely return
dined there numerous times. This time, it was more than underwhelming. The salmon entree tasted fishy, and our waiter messed up my drink order, and then charged our table for almost $80 of other tables drinks. Service was slow. This isn't the norm, but it did leave a bad taste in my mouth, and I'm not sure I'll go again anytime soon due to this visit.
This place never disappoints! No matter when we come or what I get, I’m always pleased. Great food, service, cocktails and dessert!
Like always the Pollo Lasagna and the house bread is the best item on the menu. Everyone I bring here loves it! This time we tried the seasoned fry appetizer and it was great! We again got the Calamari but was a bit disappointed this time as it was a bit rubbery and the portion was substantially less.
Love the food and service! I believe Taylor was our waitress....she was great. Owner also came and checked on us.
Tried this out finally and it was very loud. The food was ok but it was not a great experience for the pricing.
Group of 10 - had a great time with great cocktails and food - only reason they got 4 stars is because one person didn’t like their entree but the rest of us did
Delicious food with great service. Love the handmade pastas. We arrived early so not too noisy when we arrived but several large groups arrived after us and the noise level went way up.
Excellent food and service as always. My favorite is the Lasagna di Pollo - second favorite is fettuccine Alfredo (with chicken breast). Our server was very attentive and ensured we enjoyed the food and kept our glasses full. Mi Piace is always one of my favorite places to dine.
Fabulous food and lovely restaurant
We just love Mi Piaci, amazing home made pasta, great vibe and excellent service. Chef Gil always has something new cooking!
Such a wide variety on the menu - different types of food and different prices. Something for everyone. It has been so long since I had been here, but will be back again soon.
Went to Mi Piace on a Friday night with my boyfriend and really enjoyed the experience. Loved the bread service, good brussel sprouts and pizza, chocolate soup did not disappoint. If you’re not drinking they have Henry Weinhardts root beer which is the best root beer I’ve had. The service was good and we were seated right away with our reservation even though it was busy.
Great food and ambiance. The one strange thing that happened: I made this reservation to take my wife out for a nice dinner date. We arrived and were seated at a bare table, though every other table in the ENTIRE restaurant had a table cloth and additional paper on top. When we asked about it, we were first told that table cloths were by request (they are not) then that our table was a test for a new table that doesn't need tablecloths (strange), and finally after a third request, we were given a tablecloth. Very strange occurrence that left a bit of a stain on the experience. Unfortunate.
Great for casual or even business lunches. Carbonara was stellar!
Came in after a friend highly recommended it. Didn’t realize it was happy hour so we sat in the bar section was really cute with chairs and small couches. The small bites were $5-7, cocktails about $8 (I may be off by a few dollars), plenty of wines by the glass to choose from. Their version of an Old Fashion was pretty good. I appreciated the happy hour menu; we got 3 appetizers, a pizza and three drinks bill was about $57. Over all the food was good, I do intend to go back and try the dinner menu. I scooped out the food from other tables, the pastas were looking legit. I mean, it is handmade pasta noodles they are serving.
The service could have been better. Our waitress was a little too casual, almost rude at times. Maybe she had other tables in the dining section, but I had to flag her down more times than I liked to. But, I’ll be back and may have an updated review.
This was our second time at a Mi Piace in two days- that says it all!
Delicious food and excellent customer service
The food was outstanding
We enjoy coming to MiPiace. The only problem is we have gotten stuck in the back room in the corner the last 2 times. It is noisy with the kitchen right there and you'd think having reservations would get you up front away from that. I tried something different this time & it was just ok so I won't get that again. Dessert tasted a little stale also. That is why I am not giving the best review this time.
