Bib gourmand restaurant not to be missed. Great neighborhood spot. Great menu selection including vegetarian options, although not vegan. Definitely on the radar for a revisit soon.
Not conversation friendly. Plate portions were small. Over all I thought the it was an over priced experience.
Cool, place to eat and have a good time, loud due to small size
Absolutely delightful. A little disappointed in the cured tuna but absolutely adored everything else! Berlin provides outstanding and thoughtful service.
Excellent! Great ambiance and food.
Need a change? This is the place for you. I promise you've never tried this type of Spanish-style food. It's delicious and such a change of pace. The staff is friendly and attentive. I sat outside and had a great time. It was great for people watching!
We love going here on Saturday or Sunday for lunch it's a hidden gem for those times. We have relatives that come in from out of town a few times a year they always have to go to MFK. The food is always great, good wine list and excellent service.
I am so disappointed in this restaurant because it used to be so good and I love the Spanish flavors that are a focus. However, the value and generosity of spirit have left the premises, and the food is just OK. Some examples of the lack of generosity: $10 for three, small 1/8 inch slices of a toasted baguette with a bit of tomato rubbed on it seems chintzy. Similarly $12 for 4 anchovies laid out on a plate with some olive oil (I didn't taste or see the fresno pepper) and $36 for a small hangar steak seem too pricey for the premise, service and environment. The wine selection is tiny and they were out of one of my favorites. The service is overwhelmed when busy. All in all an OK (three star) experience. Still some great food available (tortilla with brandade) and the potential is there. I hope they get it back.
Delicious food in a beautiful, intimate space! The cocktails were also amazing and every dish was unique
I really like their seafood options, even if the pricing seems a bit high. Great cocktails!
Amazing staff and excellent food! We had no clue what half the items were and the servers suggested and excellent selection of plates to dive into. Highly recommended.
Great little place with awesome attentive service...especially Casey! We loved the food, would definitely return. We sat outside on the little patio.
Fabulous as always
I’ll be dreaming of our meal at mfk. for a long time. Everything was perfect!
Great place for family get together. Thats what I want to say
I was very happy with the service. Drinks were fine. Bread service was pedestrian for something that I paid extra for. The boquerones were 4 anchovies in 1/4 cup of olive oil for $10. Romanesco was a bowl of salty veg on a bed of oil and hummus for $18! Croquetas were the highlight but almost tepid leaning toward cold. And the Hanger steak tasted like something I could make at home if I wasn't trying too hard.
$160 for 2 with tip and if I'm being honest I felt a little ripped off.
Always a good experience, but the crisp and clean flavors seem to be dulled by an overuse of milkfat in the form of cheeses, cream and butter, layered with olive oil. Cocktails are perfect.
Outstanding Fish Board and whole fish Sea Beam entree.
As always from frequent diners.
Excellent service with stellar dishes!
Lovely food, but they made us wait 30 mins for our reservation, but another group was sitting and talking at our table. Eventually I asked them to politely
I’ve been to MFK several times and the food and service are always excellent. Takes me back to my favorite dining experiences in Spain. I highly recommend.
Awesome meal at our neighborhood restaurant. The food goes well beyond “neighborhood spot”, though. We were impressed with everything...the peas, summer vegetables, goat cheese fritter, croquettes, shrimp escabeche and seafood fideos were all at least a 9/10. We’ll definitely be back soon!
the best restaurant in Chicago. suzuki crudo suzuki crudo.
We love mfk - personal and exquisite.
Ben behind the bar is witty and skilled. A gem.
During our meal we were already planning our return visit. My wife and I shared five entrees, and they were all wonderful, but don't miss the crunchy prawn heads. The seafood fideos was also incredible. Save a little room for their Basque cake.
We loved the food at mfk and service was good as well.
Our meal was excellent. The small, seemingly simple first course dishes had bright, fresh, and desirable flavors. Our middle course dishes were both delicious and filling. Our main courses were generous portions of well-executed dishes. Our server, despite telling us that he was new, was incredibly well informed and served as a great guide in our meal. Thank you a great meal mfk
always fabulous- just a gem
The smoked trout toast was a standout for us. Great service, good wine list, intimate space.
You will find truly authentic Basque tapas here! And wonderful bar service as well. A lovely treasure!
LOVE mfk. Cozy, lively, friendly, extremely original flavors, great ingredients. Plate-licking goood. Just one request: Pls keep a couple of teabags on hand for the rare/occasional guest who wants a cuppa tea (that would be my guest)...though he was delighted by the refreshing mocktail concocted by your bartender. A very happy return visit for me and first time for my guest.
Great as always
Each dish was unique but fit together to make a satisfying delishous meal.
Intimate and cozy. Feels like you are in a Spanish restaurant. Delicious food and great service!
This place is so delicious. The food, the lighting, the cocktails, everything was perfect. My partner and I came for our anniversary and they treated us like queens! Super romantic and intimate restaurant.
Food was very good. They change their menu up which is nice, it seems this time they tried to add a couple more “hearty” dishes. I felt they were good but not as amazing as their seafood dishes.
Food was excellent! Tasty! We will definately visit again
We always have a wonderful experience here. Such a nice, cozy atmosphere with great service and absolutely delicious food.
It's not a economically conservative dinner option, but offers a rewarding dining experience with a unique menu and attentive service.
It’s a jewel box of delicious smells and tastes. Honestly, we stepped inside and it had a glow, from the genuine design and the people working there. The ingredients were put together in ways we’ve never had before, like the mussels- a must have!
