Great Tapas, a bit noisy and wouldn’t call it affordable, but overall a very pleasant experience.
A little on the noisy side, but the fantastic food and service makes it so worthwhile.
Delicious! Inventive dishes and friendly servers. We'll be back.
The food is outstanding as are the cocktails. The presentation is beautiful and creative. We just absolutely love this restaurant.
One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time!
It just got better drink by drink, course by course. I felt like I was transported to an open air kitchen on the coast of Spain overlooking the sea. The food was just amazing. The staff is naturally charismatic with an abundance of knowledge and panache without feeling too edgy. These folks are doing it right in every way. Go here. Go frequently. Go twice...a day. I would! And will!
Great food, great service. The specials the night I came were phenomenal.
The food was truly outstanding. The Spanish tortilla and albondigas were mouthwateringly delicious - seriously the best I've ever had, and I go to Spain every year. Also recommended is the gazpacho. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and went well with black squid ink chips.
scallops were delicious but only 2 scallops for $30!
prawns were disappointing.
veal meatballs were very good.
Super slow. The staff was dying over the couple next to us and didn’t ever really check in with us. It took two hours to get 4 dishes... it was a bummer.
The worst part was just the lack of awareness... apologies and gestures were made to other guests but not us.
Absolutely incredible dishes each and everyone. Our server (his name is escaping me unfortunately) was great. Would recommend if your adventurous and enjoy good food!
Very impressed with the food. Ben could not have been more helpful.
The food at mfk is spectacular! Every dish we had was delicious and we wished we had more room to order seconds. Don't miss the desserts as well. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Feels like dining on the Spanish coast.
Amazing food, great service, a very intimate and unassuming spot. Highly recommend. Food is literally bursting with flavor.
Food was very good, especially Crimini mushroom and Pan-Seared Scallops Specials. Willing to adjust some recipes for vegetarian diners. However, this is an expensive restaurant for lunch. The bill for 3 of us with food and cocktails was $170 plus tip!
Great food. Great atmosphere. Great tunes. Couldn't ask for much more!
The food was very good....a nice and innovative touch to traditional Spanish cuisine. The service was a bit uneven, but there was just one server, so she had a lot of work, and I can't really fault her. Our after-dinner drink (Atxa vermouth - highly recommended) was comped due to a long wait. I have two 'cautions' for other diners - portions are on the small side - even the "large plates, except for the Basque cake, which is a standard size portion for dessert. At the end of the meal, you might find yourself with a much larger bill than you might have expected given the small portions. And, for coffee purists, the cafe cortado comes with cold milk, not the hot milk served in other establishments.
A go to for a great tapas experience especially if you are seeking a seafood centric meal. Old dishes are still favorites and new ones are becoming old favorites in no time.
Great food and service, very unique
The only reason I think it’s good for special occasions is because they don’t charge the menu frequently, but the food is really tasty, the preserved seafood is super high quality. Interesting wines, but like most restaurants wine is hyper overpriced. Great experience though.
We were looking for a quaint Spanish restaurant for lunch for my wife's birthday. We had not previously heard of MFK. What a find! It is tiny and intimate with fabulous drinks and even better food. The fact that everything is made fresh everyday is just an added bonus. We got to have a nice conversation with the creator of the drink recipes and 23 year old Executive Alisha Elenz. What a treat to talk with a fresh, humble rising star. This is a new favorite for us
Absolutely outstanding Spanish style cuisine. Everything was delicious, but most notable was a braised octopus dish. This place is tiny and cozy, best for a date or small group. My husband, who has Celiac disease, was able to enjoy dinner, but the inability to lap up the great sauces was kind of a drag, and something like a corn tortilla to do that with would really be appreciated. Also, it was hard to find gluten-free small plates.
Our bartender Jason was gracious and talented. Perfect delicious cocktails and great wine choices paired a masterful meal . Would eat here over and over if we lived in Chicago.
Love this place. The room the people the service the music and of course the food. Umami everything. Great gin Martini, Anchovies, toast, trout salad, mussels, chicken farce. All delicious. Thank you for a great evening.
This was our second visit to MFK and it was as good as the first. Service, food and ambiance exceptionable. So happy to have found this place, I just moved to the neighborhood.
The food was amazing!
Was very impressed with mfk and would highly recommend!
Not our style. Overpriced and underwhelming. At this price point I'm expecting to be wowed and wasn't. Just didn't hit the mark....
We had a wonderful experience at mfk. Our server Berlin recognized us from a previous visit and also from Bar Biscay, where she is sometimes assigned. She was knowledgeable about the menu and made sure we were well taken care of. She made excellent recommendations for dishes and the number of items overall. We ended with a chicken dish that was truly memorable, though all the dishes were excellent. It is fun to share dishes at mfk and Berlin guided us so we did not over-order. She also suggested good wine pairings. The noise level allows us to carry on conversation easily - we appreciate that. We will definitely return!
mfk is definitely a neighborhood gem, an exceptional taste and experience of seaside Spain here in Chicago. My wife and I had a lovely evening here recently and thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed European ambiance at the bar and the outdoor seating. Each of the five tasting plates we tried were creative, unique, and absolutely delicious. The cocktails equally creative and well balanced, and the selection of wines well complimented the dishes. Be sure to try the basque cake and French press coffee. Fantastic!
With every dish, we didn’t think it could be more amazing , but it was! The service was fun and spot on in regards of when to connect and what to suggest. This is a repeat over and over again!
Great little boutique place. Whatever we tried food wise was good, just not up to my palate. Mostly deep fried.
Utterly mediocre food presented as if it were something special. We tried this place when it first opened and were disappointed. We thought we'd give it another chance and found it to be just as poor.
This is a brilliant little restaurant in a neighborhood that desperately needs it. We had the whole fish option on a Saturday afternoon, a black bass, that was perfectly prepared and presented. All small dishes were uniformly excellent as well. Will be back for more.
Lovely experience, staff was engaging and informative in the most enjoyable way. We’ll certainly be making a second trip here.
I love this place, it's small and doesn't have a ton of seats or a huge menu but most of it is good. I love the fried shrimp head personally. I also like the fact it's small plates so you can try a few things.
Absolutely delicious! The Tour of MFK is a must
This was unfortunately, one of the worst dining experiences we have had. MFK was hosting their sister restaurant employees for dinner, and the group was drunk, noisy, and very inappropriate. Two of the people from this group were falling over, to the point where one actually fell onto my husband while he was eating. While our server was polite and attentive, this group took over the small space and ruined our experience. We had traveled from DC so we were very disappointed. The manager or server did not comp anything nor did either apologize for what was one of the most awful (and honestly physically invasive) evenings. I plan to reach out to their team to let them know our feelings and strongly discourage others from attending.
The food was good but had very small portions plates.
This is such a great restaurant in lincoln park! The drinks and food were amazing and service was great. I highly recommend!
Food was good, and good service. It was not crowded but because it is small I can see it being loud at times. Definitely recommend!
