Jason is pretty. Like super pretty. He gives good hugs.
Overall, mfk is one of my favorite restaurants. It's a small spot, so it's better for a group of 4 or less and recommend reservations to be made in advance since there is no place to wait. The food continues to be amazing and I love the always changing options.
Amazing flavor that took me back to Spain ! We will be back again.
Excellent! We loved everything! Thank you.
Love it here
2nd time there. Food is interesting and delicious. service is outstanding. everyone wants to have a good time, but excellent food comes first. if you're a foodie don't miss this Spanish based gem
It was lovely. The wait staff was wonderful. The food was good but, except for the seafood saffron dish, not exception. The seafood dish was exceptional and I wish they had provided bread to mop up every drop of the delicious sauce.
MFK offers great gourmet choices, with layered flavors, appealing presentation and fabulous cocktails. The chefs/owners are innovative and the fare is fun. We can’t wait to go back!
Great food, ambience, service
This is a terrific restaurant with innovative and imaginative preparations
Favorite restaurant in Chicago!
My second visit, great food and delicious cocktails! Awesome staff! I wished they had the lights less dimmed that night, but otherwise all was great!
The food and service are excellent. If you are in Chicago don’t miss this place.
Missed out on the Fried Prawn Heads as they ran out from the previous night's service (same night they were featured on Food Network's DDD). But the Server was gracious and gave us a serving of the XATO sauce w/toasted bread. Must order: Ceviche de Cameron, Seafood Fideos & Corn & Squash Succotash too!
The food was very good this time around, our second time. We ordered better last time, though. The shrimp heads dish and the fideos are both great, and we passed them up to try new dishes, which were also very good but not quite at the same level. The mussels on bread, the squid, the gazpacho, and the special smoked fish tray were all good - I would recommend the gazpacho to anyone and maybe pass on the mussels, which were a little straightforward. We liked the wine we ordered, but were a little disappointed at it as a pairing for the food. We asked for a light-bodied red wine to go with seafood, and the waitress pointed us to what she said was their lightest-bodied red. I have no reason to disbelieve her that it was the lightest-bodied red they had (she was a good waitress), but it was still too full-bodied for seafood, by quite a bit.
Do not be turned off by the fact that this place strangely has reservations available just a couple hours beforehand on Friday and Saturday night. The food and value far outstrip mfk's reputation. You will like the ambiance, the wait staff, which seems to be people who are really into food, and the dishes themselves.
Great small plates place, well paced, great cocktails, excellent service, intimate!
Neighborhood gem. Killer seafood and shareable plates. Always fantastic and the "vibe" is just right: small in size, big in flavor, intimate, and all things are tasty.
Our last visit was everyday dining, but we started going there on dates when we first started dating, and have gone for special occasions. This restaurant has been simply fantastic in all aspects each time we visit regardless of our reason to visit. The food is always amazing, and the cocktail program and the young man running it are good enough that we have come here even on nights when we aren’t eating.
Wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food. What more could you ask for?!?
MFK was my choice for birthday brunch/lunch and I was impressed. We sat at the bar by choice. The ambiance is just like the restaurant’s website photos show, may be the place is a bit smaller than I expected, but it was only half occupied, so it was cozy and quiet. The food was outstanding! I love seafood and every meal we ordered hit the spot. The bartender/waiter was extremely professional and knowledgeable about the food, its sourcing. He was friendly and engaging too. The cocktails were delicious! I’d love to return!
What a neighborhood gem. We live in Madrid, Spain and this restaurant nailed the vibe and the food. Even the decor — I could have been back in Madrid. Great staff, savory and interesting ingredients. Felicidades. You guys nailed it. Very impressive.
Food is fabulous!!!! Very creative cuisine. Great setting and quality service.
Very fun and low key tapas spot. Great service and bar! Highly recommended
We love this place. The food is interesting and excellent. Waiter is very nice and has very good recommendations.
Highly Recommend - food is excellent and creative. Our waiter was also a 5 star and the wine list was very reasonable.
Great Tapas, a bit noisy and wouldn’t call it affordable, but overall a very pleasant experience.
A little on the noisy side, but the fantastic food and service makes it so worthwhile.
Delicious! Inventive dishes and friendly servers. We'll be back.
The food is outstanding as are the cocktails. The presentation is beautiful and creative. We just absolutely love this restaurant.
One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time!
It just got better drink by drink, course by course. I felt like I was transported to an open air kitchen on the coast of Spain overlooking the sea. The food was just amazing. The staff is naturally charismatic with an abundance of knowledge and panache without feeling too edgy. These folks are doing it right in every way. Go here. Go frequently. Go twice...a day. I would! And will!
Great food, great service. The specials the night I came were phenomenal.
The food was truly outstanding. The Spanish tortilla and albondigas were mouthwateringly delicious - seriously the best I've ever had, and I go to Spain every year. Also recommended is the gazpacho. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and went well with black squid ink chips.
scallops were delicious but only 2 scallops for $30!
prawns were disappointing.
veal meatballs were very good.
Super slow. The staff was dying over the couple next to us and didn’t ever really check in with us. It took two hours to get 4 dishes... it was a bummer.
The worst part was just the lack of awareness... apologies and gestures were made to other guests but not us.
Absolutely incredible dishes each and everyone. Our server (his name is escaping me unfortunately) was great. Would recommend if your adventurous and enjoy good food!
Very impressed with the food. Ben could not have been more helpful.
The food at mfk is spectacular! Every dish we had was delicious and we wished we had more room to order seconds. Don't miss the desserts as well. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Feels like dining on the Spanish coast.
Amazing food, great service, a very intimate and unassuming spot. Highly recommend. Food is literally bursting with flavor.
Food was very good, especially Crimini mushroom and Pan-Seared Scallops Specials. Willing to adjust some recipes for vegetarian diners. However, this is an expensive restaurant for lunch. The bill for 3 of us with food and cocktails was $170 plus tip!
