We enjoy going to Mezza Luna. Food and service are always great. Alex did a wonderful job.
Mezza Luna is a GREAT local restaurant. The food is always good and filling. But? Their service on Saturday's is just sad. I understand the place is HOPPING CRAZY with people (that's because the food and location is perfect!). But the service? Oy. The waiters forget to bring things to the table and forget to take away. I swear, my friends empty pasta bowl sat in front of him right through dessert. But despite that? We keep coming back. Their Poached Salmon is a favorite and their Pasta Fagioli Soup? Perfect. Everyone loved their food. And dessert and coffee were good, too. But guys... when you serve the coffee? Service DESSERT! We seriously waited a half hour after the coffee was delivered to get our dessert. Otherwise? We will keep coming back.
Love eating at Mezza Luna. It is our go to place when we want a simply yet delicious meal. The prices are low, BYOB is a plus and the food and service are always good.
We had our 2 young grandchildren with us. We were seated at our reserved table within a minute of arrival. Service was excellent, food was delicious. The only complaint is not enough room on the table for 4 - too many glasses, water pitcher, drinks, bread, etc. We kept rearranging objects to make room for appetizers & meals.
Food is excellent!
Service was fair.
We went during a busy dinner time and the place was packed. Tables are very close together with no room between chairs facing back to back from different tables, so there was a lot of of bumping.
When I made my reservation, I requested a "quiet corner" for my hard of hearing husband. We were seated smack dab in the middle of the dining room.
The restaurant was cute... our waiter was very good but in a nutshell the food wasn’t.
My granddaughter’s Birthday dinner. Food was good served hot and fast!
Excellent food with great prices. Server must have been new so we needed to remind her what was included in the entrees (pasta and soup/salad) but overall we enjoyed the evening.
A comfortable and reasonable local place. Good service and good food for a good value.
Meal was average at best, lots of food if that’s your thing. Was very crowded so it has it followers
Awesome food & service! Entrees were on the larger side too
The food is tasty and good size portions. It's good value for the money and BYOB.
We had an issue with one of the dishes ordered, the Manager had the chef check it out. I have never seen a Manager agree with us and could not have done more to accommodate us. He apologized several times and a replacement Mel was brought in a very timely manner, so that all in the party could eat together. This is management at its best!!!
We were pleasantly surprised with the tasty menu choices. It was our first time there and we will certainly return again in the near future.
Best Italian food. It’s a pizzeria / restaurant with an ample sized dining room that is apart from the pizza area. Would recommend to anyone in the area.
Wonderful food, creative in ingredients and presentation. Service is excellent and adds to the experience.
I’ve been here once before and this visit was a let-down unfortunately. The vegetables in the chicken soup were almost raw and the service was very slow and inattentive. Value is great though.
Made reservations for the table that I had requested for, server was kind and attentive to us, food was made in a timely manner and was really good. Ambiance is great, overall great restaurant
Lovely, Charming Atmosphere and Great Food!
My girlfriends and I reserved a table at Mezza Luna for lunch, amidst a day of searching for a wedding dress! It was the perfect place to unwind and celebrate the bride-to-be. We all agreed that the food was excellent and loved the bread basket they served upon our arrival. Our server was friendly and accommodating. I would definitely love to come back many times with friends and family!
Mezza Luna is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is always fresh, authentic Italian and delicious! Highly recommend for a great lunch, dinner or special occasion. The service is also excellent.
The food was good but oddly the basket of bread we were given was not the same as every other table. Everyone else had bread pieces and pieces with tomato sauce baked in. Usually not a big deal but when every other table gets something you didn't you have to wonder why.
We were the first table seated so perhaps they hadn't made them yet before other tables arrived but it was...odd.
Otherwise everyone enjoyed their main course and dessert.
All in all an enjoyable time but that bread thing was just..strange.
One of our favorite neighborhood places for good hearty Italian food.
Not as good as it used to be.
They are well know for pizza, but we ate dinner for four. The meals were fresh, but slathered with an unbalanced amount of too much sauce. It was an average experience with nothing to write home about. I'll go back to see what the pizza rage is about. I like writing positive comments, generally. Nothing bad to report, just nothing that set them apart.
Excellent food! The waiter was very attentive. Pretty restaurant too. I'll come back soon!!
Let's begin with the appetizer of mozzarella sticks. They looked like they came straight out of the box. Next was the salad with balsamic vinaigrette that tasted as though it was very watered down. Next came the main course. My friend had the chicken, which was not edible. I had the cheese ravioli with sauce that tasted like tomato soup. We didn't finish any part of our meals. When it came time to leave, we actually had to ask people to get up who were in the middle of eating because we boxed in by other table. Whole experience was awful.
I went here for dinner to catch up with a friend who was in town. I enjoyed the assortment of bread that came out, I was surprised that it wasn't just plain white rolls, although this may have been the best part of my meal. I ordered the pasta fagioli and was terribly disappointed; it tasted like just boiled beans in water. It was severely lacking any type of salt or flavor, and even though there was clearly a tomato base, all I could taste were the beans and water. I ordered the shrimp royale for dinner, and while the shrimp was well cooked and I enjoyed the texture of the crabmeat stuffing, both were again lacking any real flavor. Overall though, the place had a nice ambiance and a pretty broad menu that could accommodate a variety of tastes. The waiter was friendly and attentive, except that we ran out of water midway through the meal and he didn't bother to replace our pitcher. Not my first pick in the future for a restaurant, but I could see it being a good family place.
There are a lot of similar places around, but for good food at a reasonable cost, this is the place
This was my 3rd visit. Service was great (Pedro), however food was not up to par. We ordered the special appetizer (fried zucchini, eggplant and artichoke). For $10, we were shocked at how small the portion was. My husband ordered the waldorf salad, and found it seriously lacking in greens. Both my girlfriend and I ordered snapper which was fine, and her husbands parmigiana trio was extremely good.
Not sure if it was an off night. Never had an issue with portion size in the past.
Pedro is an excellent waiter and I request him when we are dining there !
Service was awfull food courses came out too fast .
No bus boy or table cleaners . They left empty plates on the table and kept bring next course without clearing
There was a spill on the table and no offered to clean until we asked
Will not go back
Never disappointed with food or service at Mezza Luna. Try to go for lunch at least once a month. Would go more often but it’s an hour’s drive (more if traffic is heavy) from San Leandro. Worth the effort!
We have heard of Mezza Luna from friends that rave about it. The service was on point and they were on top of your needs. The place is really busy and happening. We found the food very fairly priced. The quality of the food was fine, but nothing to write home about. It is a BYOB and that makes it one to keep for once in a while. We will try it again with other dishes. This time we tried the a special of Shrimp and pasta which was not too appealing and I ordered the short ribs from the menu which were on a mashed potatoes and steamed vegies. It was okay. The place has an extensive selection of choices for every heart desire so we will try it again.
Mezza Luna was wonderful! I dined here for my boyfriend's birthday with a group. The service was attentive and exceptional. The food was exquisite; especially the specials! This Italian cuisine is a hole in the wall. I'll be returning for sure!
Great neighborhood Italian restaurant. Menu has great choices other than the usual expected dishes . Bring you appitite very nice portions.
We have been going to this restaurant for years. Regardless of price, ambiance, Mesa Luna has the best marinara sauce! Ninety percent of the time I get chicken parm. My wife gets various chicken dishes and she always enjoys them.
The portions are big; I can't finish my meal. The prices are inexpensive relative to the portion size. My meal was $17.00 (that includes salad and pasta). It is an incredible value and we love the taste.
We have also had pizza there and it is equally great.
This is my favorite restaurant within 50 miles.
New Year’s Eve dinner with our friends. We were happy there was not a special menu with a high price tag just because it was NYE. We have been here several times. The food is good and pretty consistent. Nice atmosphere and good service. Plus it’s byob. Prices are reasonable.
