Meze Greek Fusion has a full bar and lounge in an open air area and also offers a sidewalk patio that overlooks the city. For the warmer days, cool off with a cold meze like the baba ghanoush, which is a grilled eggplant served with tahnin, garlic and lemon juice. Enjoy a cocktail, while eating a dolma consisting of rice, green onion, parsley, dill and garlic wrapped in grape leaves. Meze Greek Fusion also offers warm mezes, such as the spanakopita, a puff pastry filled with fresh spinach, feta cheese, leaks, dill and mint. Relax with a beer as you dine on a Greek quesadilla made with pita bread, feta, kasseri, cheddar, bell peppers, onion and tomato. Meze Greek Fusion also has options like the home-made gyro, Meze kabob and the falafel plate, which is chickpea croquets, mixed greens, pickled turnips, tahini and hummus.
This business gets five stars for several reasons. Not only is the food delicious, the happy hour reasonable, and the wait staff fantastic, but they are also an honest business. Honesty these days is hard to come by. This restaurant management and wait staff could have profited off my mistake but took the high road. Eight of us went to the restaurant to eat before a comedy show. We went for happy hour and then were seated for dinner. Our waitress, Kayeligh, was absolutely delightful and very helpful. We all had different meals and not a single person complained about their meal. I might add, that for a gaslamp restaurant, their prices were very reasonable. I had Pasta Lahano and oh, was it delectable. It had Penne pasta, Kalamata olives, sun-dried tomato, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, onion, feta cheese. Despite being pasta, it was light and the vegetables were fresh. They take great pride in the preparation of their food. However, I regress. When we left, we were in a hurry to get to the theater, I was left to pay the bill and in my rush to get out, I didn't add the meal and the tip properly to get the right total. My mistake was heavily in favor of the restaurant. But, a week later when I was going through receipts and discovered my mistake... I checked my credit card online and discovered that Meze had CORRECTED my mistake and charged me the proper amount! So, I can highly recommend this business not just because it's a great restaurant, but because it's an honest business. Thank you, Meze.
We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The menu is quite large. There are hot and cold small plates. Some people seemed to be ordering all small plates to share and taste a variety of items while others enjoyed large entrees. My husband and I started with some of the specialty cocktails which were wonderful. My husband and I split a small plated of grilled octopus. It was so tender and perfectly prepared. I had an entree of fettuccine with shrimp, tomatoes, cheese and ouzo and my husband had the gyro and a side Greek salad. Everything was delicious. Our service was outstanding. I would highly recommend this restaurant, and especially the grilled octopus! I would definitely make a reservation because this restaurant seemed to get quite crowded.
Food was great, service was even better
Loved that restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was great too.
The dancers added a great entertainment value to the whole experience. Best restaurant in Downtown San Diego.
Worth a visit when you are in San Diego. Love the little plates to share. Wine list a little pricey but good selections!
Good quality food, greek fusion, quick service and perfect size portions. You can try just about a taste of everything on menu if your heart desired it.
So glad we tried this place. Food was great! Half off bottles of wine and Ben Silver the sommelier was our server and is also a professional magician! He was awesome!
Meatballs and Tacos were on point!
The food is just amazing. Each dish is bursting with amazing flavor and the ambiance in the restaurant is great. Love it there
Good restaurant down town. Vegetarian friendly, great atmosphere and decor. Came early, and not overly crowded. Waitstaff attentive.
The place was very trendy and hip inside. It was pretty busy, so it seems like a popular place to go. The food was good, but not anything I called awesome. My recommendation to the restaurant - use larger plates. All our small plate items were served on very small plates (too small for the amount of food that was placed upon them). We had to be careful as we took bites; when you put your fork into the dish, the food would fall off onto the table.
Second time in three months eating at Meze. Both times the food was outstanding, the service very good, the Greek wines interesting and of high quality, and on this last visit, even had the additional benefit of a fire swallowing belly dancer to boot! What more could you ask for?
it was very good food, great service, and a trendy cool place with nice decor. i would recommend requesting to be seated towards the back of the restaurant if you are going there for dinner. we were seated by the bar, and at one point they were blasting the music (with a drummer and belly dancer) and seemed almost like a club, and we couldn't hear the people across the table from us. made it hard to have a conversation.
Food was amazing and our server Ben Silver was a magician and "wowed" us with his tricks!!
It's wonderful having a local restaurant that excels in both food and service. I've been to Meze several time for dinner and it's always been excellent. This was the first time for lunch... also excellent. Fresh and creative fusion of Greek and California cuisine.
We thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience at Meze. The staff was friendly and knowledgable. The food was top-notch, and the drink menu was extensive and phenomenal. Great atmosphere for feeling hip and trendy but also being able to carry on a conversation with each other. Would highly recommend.
We tried it for brunch because its a great deal! $12 with Brunch however the food was just meh, however it was just simple no flavor for the American brunch items we got. I will try it again for the dinner happy hour & the greek food.
Good was plain and menu was limited
We enjoyed our meal but probably would not go back. It seemed too expensive for what it was.
Food portion is relly small. Charge 18% mandatory tips for Christmas.
Pay attention to the service charge.
This place was awesome! Great food & ambiance. Did the NBC local goods deal that gave us a buy one get one free!
We originally tried this spot for a quick lunch the day we arrived in San Diego as it was located very close to our Hotel Palomar. Tiffany was our original server, she was amazing only to be overshadowed by the amazing Gyro Tacos we had. We liked it so much that we went back again for dinner and brought our friends. Ben was our server, sommelier, and magician. He is nothing short of the brightest, most awesome service industry person I've ever met. Topped it all off with a few magic tricks from him, and we were left in awe. We went to an after dinner show elsewhere, but it paled in comparison to the amazing magic we received from Ben at dinner. We had to squeeze in one more lunch before we left so we did so on our way to the airport. This restaurant is the reason I want to go back to San Diego!
The food was terrible. It had zero taste. The wait staff was rude and not kind! I would never go there again.
I'm a lover of all things Greek and have spent a significant amount of time in that beautiful country. I've been disappointed time and again by America's representation of Greek food so I almost disregarded the 4.5 stars this restaurant receives on Open Table. I am SO happy I didn't.
The food is REALLY, REALLY good and it's the closest thing I've found to food served in the Cyclades. They've nailed the saganaki (fried cheese), souvlaki (chicken was delicious), feta and olives, spicy feta cheese, grilled octopus, and the Mediterranean omelet.
The restaurant is dual level and has a nice private party area in the back. It looks like it could be a nice place to watch the Chargers lose every week as they have two (I think?) tvs in the bar area. The food and wine are good enough to keep you from crying (almost), trust me.
I feel like they have $12 bottomless mimosas and bloody marys on the weekends, and I'm pretty sure you can order off of the entire menu, so it's great for that. Service is great, bar staff is really friendly, and it looks like management/owners really know what they're doing.
My new home away from home - love it and will be back soon.
We had another amazing dining experience at Meze last night. My hubby and I decided on a late night dinner after watching a fabulous play. I made a reservation on OpenTable and was seated immediately as we entered the restaurant.
There were so many items to choose from on the menu my hubby and I had a difficult time on whether we should have tapas or two full meals. We decided on meze burger and the gyro plate.
Oh my goodness the burger was amazing. What a perfect blend of lamb and beef bursting with flavor. The burger with large however it was tender and moist.
My gyro plate was the best I have ever eaten. After a couple of bites I asked my husband to try it. He asked me what are you eating I said the gyro plate he said no that is not what a gyro taste like.
When the waitress came by I had to ask her what was different she said it was not regular pressed gyro meat, this was pure meat. Wow
The meat was lean and tender perfectly seasoned with spices and the vegetables were grilled to perfection. Every bite was pure goodness dancing in my mouth.
Since the plate with large I asked for a to go box. I figured this would be tomorrow's breakfast or brunch. However on our way back to our car we ran into a homeless person who stated he was hungry. My husband immediately gave him the bag of leftovers and then apologized to me for giving away my meal.
At that point I looked at my husband and said never apologize for giving food to a person in need.
Great food, great location downtown
Great food and ambiance! This place is great for a group. You have the option of getting small plates to share with your group or get meals. Meals are big!!
The only negative thing was that the place allows hookas to be smoked in the outside dinning area.
Service a little slow to start and then very attentive. Prices high. Excellent lamb chops
Would come back for these. Cilantro jalapeño hummus was interesting and would not order again. Prefer regular hummus.
We enjoyed the outdoor dining experience in San Diego's Gaslight District. Saganaki (flaming cheese appetizer) is an absolute must.
Hostess and server were great and really made our 25th wedding anniversary a night to remember.
Meze platter excellent except for the puff pastry used for spanakopita. Very greasy instead of crisp and airy. Lamb chops divine, red Greek wine really on the mark. Honestly the best falafel we have ever eaten. Absolutely yummy!
Ben was our server as well as the wine guy at this Gaslamp restaurant. He is attentive and funny . He knows what he has for wines and makes excellent tasting suggestions to match your food choices. He is even a magician and will engage you with his card tricks. A fun evening out.
We went to Meze while visiting Sand Diego for a conference. We have been to Greece, so know what real Greek food is, and this was really good. Loved the octopodi and the souvlaki (beef and chicken) both were authentic. Good hummus and saganaki (both alone and with the ouzo and grilled prawns- yumm!!). Good cocktails and of course Mythos beer! Our server took great care of us as well. I would totally recommend and would love to return someday!
I have been here twice, both times with groups. The food is delicious and the portions are good. I love the dancers that entertain guests; they're really talented. If you're looking for a quiet place, this is not it because the entertainment is loud but I enjoy it. Also, the lighting is very dim so just note that. I will be back here because I've always had a great experience with the service and food!
The food was outstanding - souvlaki, braised lamb shank special, charred octopus and hummus - all great!
Andrew provides excellent service !
I live downtown and recommended Meze for lunch with my work team of 12 people. I made reservations for 11:45. We all arrived on time, but watched as the server took orders for multiple new arrival tables (large & small parties). I finally had to ask the manager to take our order after we waited for 30 minutes.
As a result, we were late returning to our meeting. I would not recommend Meze for lunch if you are bringing a large group.
Waited for a while to get noticed by a server.
Music was night club like and louder than necessary
Ordered apps that were fantastic, octopus was very, very good
We had the salmon and the greek souvlaki, both were over cooked.
At first we thought this would be a good place. We were seated at a table that was for eight because nothing else was available. About ten minutes later the manager came and asked us to move. Kinda odd but we sort of understood. The table sat empty for along time. The music was so darn loud you could hardly hear yourself think. The food was delivered in about 3 minutes. It seemed clear they were more than happy for us to be on our way. I will not go back here.
The waiter was trying to make things right but it was obvious how things go at this place.
