Our server was nice but their food is horrible except for the tacos. The beef on our enchiladas were like beef jerky. The seats are not comfortable.
I loved dining at this restaurant because the food is very authentic, and the decor and vibe make you feel like you are in Mexico. The mole is outstanding! Great for a large get-together or date night
Loved it! Will definitely come back.
We got the Red Moles, it was good (nothing to write a poem about).
The drinks were really good.
The service was slow, it took 10-15 minutes till someone talked to us after we got seated.
The outdoors seating area is nice.
Their mole is fantastic, bar service is great. Fun lively atmosphere, a downtown gem! So glad to have a place with Oaxacan food in my town.
Really nice place except most of our dishes weren't very good. We had both moles and they were mediocre. The Ttayuda was sent back because the fat tasted off. The asada was like leather. The shrimp and octopus appetizers were very good. The homemade pecan ice cream was more like ice milk and very icy. Beautiful decor. $400 for 4 people: 3 apps, 4 mains, 2 desserts, 3 rounds cocktails, 22% tip (and the 3% they add on automatically.
Beautiful restaurant, great food, and Lovely service/atmosphere.
We loved the venue and the food and service were good. Our only issue was the noise level from the sports bar. It was deafening.
Daniel was excellent
The best tlayuda you'll find in Northern California. Real and authentic Oaxacan food!
Yummy Guac and chips, margaritas, shrimp tacos and service. One of the good mexican food joints in the downtown area.
Un ambiente muy agradable y excelente servicio.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in San Jose, authentic Oaxacan food.
Service and food always good. They are following CDC guidelines that made us enjoy our experience.
Took my parents here for Mother’s Day during lunch.
Service was excellent ~ they were so friendly & they even gave my mom a rose & chocolate.
Food was delicious too. It was busy, but I say the time it took for the food was reasonable. Indoor ambiance & decor is lovely.
Highly recommend everyone to dine here! Definitely my current fav place to have lunch in downtown San Jose.
It was absolutely lovely the servers were amazing and the food was really good! I would certainly come back again!!
Asked for a Spicy jalapeño Mezcalita and they said that they couldn’t do it because “it’s mezcal” which if they were purist they wouldn’t have their other Mezcal cocktail concoctions. Said only the Margarita could be spicy which is probably because that’s pre made. It really didn’t make sense. I’d probably forgive this is the food was good, but it wasn’t. Calamari was dry, shrimp wasn’t well cooked, and chips were stale. Probably wouldn’t go back.
Food was great. The service was poor. The waiter was very unfriendly and seemed to be bothered by any requests we made for drinks, water or questions about the menu. He definitely should not be in this line of work or representing the restaurant showing such hatred for customers.
Service was terrible. Went with a group of nine, our waitress also doubled as bartender so she would just disappear on us. I understand the food industry is recovery and maybe short staffed but at the time I believe there were only two others in the entire place. Unfortunately, we went for a birthday celebration and it ended in a sour note.
Horrible service and poor tasting bland food
Met up with a couple of girlfriends that I haven’t seen for over a year (thanks Covid). I picked Mezcal because of location and reviews. The service was awesome, the wait staff were very attentive and friendly. We ordered the calamari appetizer, it was okay, the flavor was good, just a little rubbery. I ordered the steak tacos- very yummy, my girlfriends had the chicken flautas, and the Enmoladas w/ chicken, they both cleaned their plates. I would definitely recommend, and it looks like a good spot for small groups, Mezcal has a very large enclosed outdoor area.
good food, good service, great experience
Good food - great drinks
Overall, I strongly recommend the restaurant. The food was tasty and importantly not bean heavy. This gave it a light airy feel. I wish they had a hotter sauce than their hottest one. Great desserts. The wait staff super friendly and served with a smile that made the food taste even better!
Restaurant atmosphere and decore was great. Food was so so. Good cocktails
Mezcal is a treasure in downtown San Jose. Wonderful food at reasonable prices and a fun place to go for any event!
Everything was perfection. Quick service. Delicious food especially their mole dishes, nice and attentive servers and friendly ambiance. Its really a 5/5 place
It was okay. The food was not worth the price, it had no taste and barely any meat. The guacamole was delicious but other than that I would not recommend.
Everything was exceptional
Went here with a friend to catch up. Great ambiance & food!!!
Amazing service. Covid Safe. Good Food and great cocktails.
First time dining here, such welcoming service from all staff!
I saw that they had a back patio, which our waiter said it’s probably going to be cold due to their heaters not working. So being inside their lovely restaurant was just as great!
Perfect for date night or any occasion
Always a pleasant dinning experience! Highly recommend the Oaxacan Mule.
I was really hoping to like this place and yet I didn't. I wouldn't go back. The guacamole was completely under-seasoned. The mole came with 2 tortillas (4 would have been nice) and a tiny mound of rice with a small piece of chicken. Nothing wowed us. When we asked the waiter for suggestions he was not helpful at all. Steered us towards soup after we asked about other dishes. We were there for dinner, not lunch. We sent the first dish back. It was a joke that there was one skinny piece of meat and two big pieces of chard flour tortillas with I don't know what inside, it wasn't good. We ordered a salad thinking that couldn't go wrong but it was drenched in dressing. In my notes for the reservation, I noted it was a birthday and there was no acknowledgment. At the end of the meal, we were just ready to leave. The menu needs help!! I don't understand the high rating. I'm a huge foodie and this was a huge disappointment!
The food is delicious I drive an hour and a half just to eat here! Closest thing to the food from the motherland
Guac and margs were good but overall the food wasn’t great for the high prices.
Food was amazing. Service was good. The pulpo salad was spicy!!
Food and service is great. My bf left his eyeglasses on our way out and one of the servers ran towards us and hans it to my bf
As usual very nice servers and really delicious food the heaters are amazing and keep you warm during the outdoor dinning kids loved it one of our favorite places to dine
