Mezcal Tequila Cantina - Leominster Ratings and Reviews
Eh. I like the atmosphere the server was attentive and friendly but the food left something to be desired. This is my third time back thinking the first time or two I just might not have hit the right Chef on the right night but this seals the deal I'm not going back. The food is not terrible, however it's just not good.
We have been to this location about 6 times. Last night the service was not very good. We had a new waitress who didn't seem to have been properly trained. I had a regular entree which was good. My wife's taco was tiny and didn't have all the ingredients from the menu. Everything is extra. No free chips and salsa. Rice and beans are extra. Location was pretty noisy last night. The price seems pretty high for what you get. Probably our last trip to this restaurant. There are better options in the area for Mexican food. Margaritas tasted good but were all ice-no drink.
We go many times. Love the food. Our only complaint is that for the number of times we go, the menu is too limited. Very often have to order something I've already had. Because the food is good, this is ok but really would like to have more options. At this point between the two of us, we've probably had everything on the menu at least one. The Smoky Mezcal drink is outstanding.
My wife and I chose Mezcal Cantina for Valentines Day because we have been there many times, and we each had a favorite entree there. Imagine our surprise when we found that my entree was removed from the menu, and my wife's was drastically changed for the worse.
I usually ordered their mole chicken, which was a perfectly pan fried chicken breast, encrusted with nuts, and covered with their exceptional mole sauce. I would mention to the staff each time I was there that this was my absolute favorite dish I've had anywhere. This was replaced on the menu with something called Yucatan chicken, a grilled breast with Brussels sprouts, beets and pumpkin seeds sauce. Not very appetizing.
My wife ordered chicken picatta, and the usual light lemon sauce instead was Brown and thick, with barely a trace of lemon. The jalapeño peppers that used to adorn the dish were gone, and the chicken breast was replaced with a chicken patty. My wife said the meal was just okay, and not the outstanding dish she was used to.
For my meal, I had to satisfy my craving for mole sauce with the chicken enchiladas, which were good, but nothing special.
Some restaurants in the past, when customers request an item removed from the menu, make an effort to recreate the entree. This was out of the question here.
There are plenty of good Mexican restaurants in driving distance from my house, and Mezcal has joined their ranks, downgraded from exceptional to just good.
The food and service, as always, was great. I was disappointed that our table had not been fully bussed from the previous occupants. There were crayons and french fries all over the floor around one end of the table. I mentioned this to the hostess who seemed like she couldn't care less. Not usual for Mezcal, but I'll keep it in mind the next time we think about going here.
Been to Mezcal Leominster several times. Usually reliable service and food. Food was good this time, but not so the service or the menu. Wait person inconsistent in time with us and time between visits to the table. In the past a cilantro allergy has been carefully handled. This time, cilantro allergy pointed out and wait person promised to talk to the kitchen. But the food came with cilantro prominently placed on the top of the food! Had to send some of the food back and ask for replacements. The food that we were finally served was quite tasty and nicely prepared. The Mezcal skinny Marguerita is very good. We also noted that the menu had changed with some pricing going up - tacos priced by the piece instead of mix and match in threes, the beans and rice on the dinner plates were an additional charge. We will go back for the food, but maybe expect a little less from the service.
Celebrated our daughter's Birthday at Mezcal. It is her favorite restaurant when she comes home. Overall experience was outstanding. The guacamole here is the best!! We had a member of our group with diet restrictions and there were options on the menu for her. Three members of of party had not been to Mezcal before. They all loved the food and would visit again. Service was friendly, well timed and very helpful.
Still the best restaurant in Leominster. The menu has changed since my last visit - with fewer of the traditional mex dishes - I miss them. The fish tacos are great. Some of the other dishes were thanksgiving-style, not what I'd look for at a mex place. All enjoyed their meal. We'll be back.
The service was exceptional... bill was incredibly friendly and when we ordered a liquor they didn't stock they went to get some for us!! The food exceeded expectations... guacamole flavors are a must-try, and even the kids loved the tacos, burritos and fajitas. Definitely recommend.
We liked this place but it is loud, even when it's not very full. Noise comes from music, voices bouncing off of walls, etc. It's very difficult to hear anyone, especially with wearing hearing aids, which amplify bad noises over good noises. Wall decorations with sound absorption could help. There were young people around who were having a wonderful conversation but we could hear them too loud and clear 2 tables away. And this was the same way the last time we went. Okay, enough complaining.
I enjoyed my food which included Golden Fried Jalapeño Rice Balls (my wife and friend weren't as excited) and my Pork Tostadas were awesome! My wife loved her Vegetable Chili a lot. My friend didn't like her Quesadillas too much but I think it was the sour cream which she doesn't like. Then there were the drinks! I had the The Mexican Gunfight and my wife had a spicy margarita. Both were wonderful and very spicy! Great! And..the flan was perfect! Truly a delight.
Service started slow but improved as all of our large party arrived. We started with the guacamole flight of 3 different types - delicious. Only a few of us had dinner as we were so full. The shrimp risotto was very good as was the tacos. All in all a very good dining experience.
I went here once before with my son and we thought the food was not very good. Two years later my husband wants to try it and we go and the food is still is not good. My tacos were even cold. We won't be going back but we did have a great server; I think she was the bartender too.
Sat on the patio on a pleasant end of summer evening. Food was a burrito and fajitas. Both nicely prepared and served. House margaritas were tasty and fresh. Our waitperson was very attentive to our requests to help avoid cilantro because of allergies. Dined here several times and we will return.
We ate here prior had a bad experience with waitress. Decided to try again. We got the same waitress ! We had to ask several times for water. We asked to separate the bill and when bill came it was all as one. I asked her again to have separate bills and she split the bill 50/50.
The chips were stale and the margaritas were served in a small glass not a margarita glass. We used to like Mezcal but this waitress is doing an injustice. A better demeanor and listening to the customer is key to customer service. We have decided to not come back to Mezcal and will frequent a more authentic and customer friendly restaurant in our area.
Got a great deal on Groupon to eat here and had a memorable experience. Waitress was awesome and the wine was delicious! I highly recommend checking out $2 Taco Tuesday's. The salmon with mango salsa was our fave dish — the Shrimp Risotto though I wouldn't order again. All in all, cool place!
First bad experience with Mezcal. Chips were stale, enchiladas were luke warm and the ends were extremely tough. By the time we were able to tell our waitress, the dinner was coming out. Also the guacamole was the house recipe and it fizzed when we tasted it...very strange. We were all given 1 drink and never asked if we wanted another (alcohol or non).
Very bad experience
