Mez Ratings and Reviews
It’s a very ok restaurant.... lunch makes for better meeting meal then dinner for business. I specifically asked for quiet spot/table for meeting, did not happen. Lots of families so next time I’ll bring my family but move my meeting. Waiter knew his stuff, good suggestions, good was very good!
At 1:45, the music went off, the lights changed, the wait staff were all cleaning. I felt like we were holding them up. I even asked if they closed during the afternoon and was told no - they stayed open until dinner. Even with that we rushed out.
The waiter was good service-wise, but could have been a bit more personable.
I had previously had great experiences with Mez. This one was just okay. We went with family for my sister's birthday; though the restaurant was not crowded, our server was not particularly attentive (disappeared for stretches at a time and was not very helpful with the menu, including responding to questions about ingredients with "that's a secret recipe that I can't share"--problematic when you're dealing with a food allergy). Three of us ordered the fajitas, which were delicious but served cold(?), I'm guessing not by design. The meal also ended on an iffy note when I discovered a hair in my last bite of food, so that soured the experience a bit.
I would go back--the food is good enough and the location is convenient for anyone looking for a place to meet off of I-40--but I will hesitate before recommending it again for special occasions.
This place never disappoints. As usual, the service was great, attentive and timely, the salsa trio is always amazing, my steak tacos were great, my husbands fish tacos were great, and the enchilada kids meal was devoured by my daughter. The kids meal is a great value. Although this place is very nice and a good date spot, I love that it also is kid friendly and has a generous kids menu which includes ice cream for dessert, definitely go if you've never been.
The service here’s has just gotten abysmal! Disrespectful and rude beyond excuse. I’ve been treated better at Taco Bell. I don’t who was occupying the table next to us but in an almost deserted restaurant both our waitress and the manager were so busy fawning over him that we were mostly ignored. Twenty minutes to get a drink refilled in an empty house is beyond absurd. Even though the manager comped our meal and offered us gift cards I still left feeling ripped off.
The food was very good and the wait staff outstanding. The noise level inside was deafening so I cannot recommend Mez for a business dinner. We had requested a quiet table and they placed us in a corner but still it was very difficult to talk across the booth where we had five seated. Two people could talk across from one another but others strained to hear what was being said. Perhaps being in the center of restaurant would have made conversation easier. Outside would have been the best.
I was disappointed in my recent visit to Mez. They used to provide chips and salsa but now they try to charge you for it. Every Mexican restaurant I have ever been to provides free chips and salsa so I thought that was disappointing. I ordered the brisket tacos. Taste was good but a ton of fat that I had to pick out. Also the tacos came with no side for $12. A little pricey for an a la carte item. Value just isn't there....
The food was not good. I expected more from the queso. It was too acidic with the tomatillo. Also, the rice with the shrimp dish had way too much lime. The service was ok but the waitress kept referring to me as lady and dumped water all over one of the neighboring tables. Nice ambiance and not awful but I would only go back if I was desperate.
My husband and I were in the area after dropping a friend off at the airport. It was a Sunday evening and quiet, but the BEST part was their outdoor seating! We had lovely weather and a lovely meal. Very attentive server named J.T. The food was really outstanding -- be sure to try their warm pineapple upside down cake! And one of the best parts? LOVE that they offer hybrid vehicle parking right outside their door.
Good food in RTP where much of what's available is fast food and Starbucks. The food, advertised as Mexican, is a little bland, but good. We had to ask for Salsa, but beverage refills were frequently provided, and those who had desert seemed to enjoy them. Appesrs to be a good choice for a business meal in the Park.
We enjoyed our meal and time at MEZ. The waitress was very sweet however, her English was not good enough for being alone at a table with non- Spanish speakers. She was very hard to understand AND she did NOT understand our questions very well. I am now determined to learn Spanish but advise your restaurant to perhaps have an English speaking person accompanying her with drinks and orders.
I love MEZ. I'm a gluten-free diner (not by choice) and they have a great selection of entrees that avoid gluten, and they're all delicious. Corn tortillas, beans, rice – GF heaven! We ate on the patio. The weather was awesome, our server was great and the food (as always) tasty and reasonably priced. I'm going back NEXT weekend.
After hearing about Mez for the last three years, I was left disappointed. The food was no better than I could find at any ordinary mexican restaurant. In my many years of ordering a fajita, this was the first which did not come out sizzling hot. Drinks were watered down and overpriced. The ambiance was nothing better than your average chain.
