Excellent! Loved our drinks, food was excellent as was the service. The ceviche was delicious. The breakfast tacos were yummy and filling. They made a special breakfast for the pickiest eater of all time. He ate and enjoyed his meal. Definitely will return.
My party had a great time. We really enjoyed the ambiance. The only disappointment that we experienced was that our server got one of our entrees incorrect and we had to wait a good while for the correct entree. We also ordered the Mexican Elote and our corn tasted raw, presentation was poor. Aside from that mishap we had a great time!
Food was really good. The service was also good. Atmosphere was loud with happy hour crowd & several large parties.
I wanted an Agave Mule and they said that they had run out of an ingredient and couldn’t make me one!!
We love this restaurant and will probably be back, but this was our first negative experience. They gave us one of three tables that was quite literally IN the kitchen. We were no more than 3 steps from the cook. There were lots of great tables available and I can’t imagine why these tables should ever be used.
It was a great experience overall. However, management should train their staff not to vacuum (loud vacuum) in the dining room when it’s full of people eating. If a mess needs to be cleaned up immediately, they should use a quiet manual sweeper. Another staff member swept around us after the other one vacuumed, and while we were still eating. The dining room was still full. It was a distraction & kinda rude. Felt like we were being rushed & concerned about stirred up dust particles getting in our food.
Inventive food and great atmosphere. But $80 for 2? We won’t dine there very often. Way too pricey for what we got...
This place is THE brunch spot
The food was good....a bit too salty, but overall good (not really anything special). The restaurant is VERY dark, VERY noisy, and difficult to hear your dinner guests. Our waiter was aggressive and rushing us to order. I have been here 2 other times and didn't have one complaint. Not sure we will go again for awhile.
It was my birthday. They didn’t even ask if we want a dessert. The server just went to take order then left the food and that was all.
The drinks are great. The food is very good. The environment is festive but not too crazy.
My wife and I LOVE Mexican Sugar. It’s not Tex-mex, so If this is what you’re after look elsewhere. This is Authentic Mexican cuisine made with the freshest ingredients and attention to detail. Their cocktails are the same way. If you’re a tequila fan they have you covered, just ask for the list and you’ll see over 200 tequilas from great mixing tequilas to sipping tequilas.
Get yourself an Agave Mule and their chips and quest to start. You’ll never go elsewhere!
Celebrating Engagement! Staff was friendly and attentive.
Yummy drinks, delicious food, excellent service. Very pleased with the experience, will definitely be back.
Our waitress didn’t pay very much attention to us. The food was great but the service did not match. We waited over 30 minutes to order and just the same amount for our checks.
Great service, good food, ambiance was live and energetic with a hint of romance. Overall great experience, would recommend to a friend.
The noise level on a Thursday night was deafening, so we asked for a table in the rear, where the noise was still too loud for a reasonable conversation. The service was good, and the food was good but not exceptionable compared to other cheaper Mexican restaurants. The prices were too high for the quality and atmosphere.
Fun place for good food and drinks.
I love Mexican Sugar! It is fairly loud at high times, so outside is a great choice. The food is fantastic.
fresh ingredients in drinks and food. loved this place
This is my second time adventuring into Mexican Sugar, we love this place and the food!!
Always fun- great food, great drink selection(love the Margarita flights!), and great service.
One of my sisters is getting married in November. It was a ladies night to celebrate the bride to be.
The place is beautiful when you walk in! It’s like a fancy Mexican restaurant. We had a reservation for 7:45pm and we were sat within 10 min of arriving. I’m a server so I like to pay attention to details from our waitress. She took longer than 10 min to bring us water to start with. Our alcoholic drinks took about 20 min. Chips came with our drinks which is longer than should’ve been. The chips, queso and salsa was really good though! We munched on two baskets of chips and we weren’t even looking at our menus anymore. Waitress was handling 3 tables at the time, ours included. It’s not much. By the time she brought a third basket of chips, I had to tell her we were ready to order and got more drinks. Oh the mango margarita is just a regular margarita with diced mango in there. So we paid like $8 for a cup of a regular margarita. Our second round of drinks came after our food. Food took about 30 min after we ordered and the guys got food first then us girls after 5 min. We ate, the food was pretty good. The lighting gets really dark after sunset! You only have a small tea light candle in the middle of your table and very dim lighting around the restaurant. We had our food boxed up and ordered one last round of drinks which came quicker since last call for drinks was in the next 7 minutes. Overall, the food was great, drinks were eh and service was terrible. I’ve handled many more tables than our waitress and have not had the tables to wait on me. She still got a really good tip but if it was me paying, it wouldn’t have been as generous as my boyfriend.
Mexican Sugar is one of my family’s favorite restaurants. They serve the BEST warm salsa, queso and margaritas. Our menu favorites are the arepas, salads, brasas chicken tacos and enchiladas, but honestly there’s nothing on the menu that isn’t delicious, fresh and well presented. Also need to give a dessert shout out to their made to order churros with dipping sauces! Delicious!
Father’s Day buffet. Food was cold(eggs) and quaso. Food was definitely not worth 35. A person. Asked waiter for ice for my water 5 separate times. Just over all quality was poor for the price. Won’t be going back.
We had never been and since my husband loves Mexican and it was father’s day, I made reservations. We were not aware that it was a buffet otherwise I would not have chosen this place. With a toddler in tow we wanted to have an experience where a waiter actually served us. It was very noisy and a bit chaotic in there. Food was ok, nothing special, and meanwhile there was no kid menu they ate free from the buffet. My toddler made a mess of things as we usually order him a quesadilla, which was not an option on the buffet. I spent $100 for 2 adult buffet and we each had a cocktail....too expensive for a buffet in my opinion.
We went for the Father’s Day brunch. The food was delicious, but the buffet was crazy overpriced! $35/person, not including any drinks. We definitely didn’t eat enough food to make it worth it. We won’t be going there again for the buffet.
The rice to the paella dish I had was burned, and the server forgot one of my drink orders.
Great food! Queso, guac, tacos, redfish, enchiladas, all excellent but the noise level is considerable! Best to sit outside on terrace if you want to minimize.
Great food. The queso and margaritas are the best.
Fajitas were cold. Iced tea tasted unusual. Service was slow and fair
I usually love this place but our server was really bad yesterday.
We asked to be sat on the patio because it was a pretty day. Our server was horrible. We waited a good 5 minutes before he even came and took our drink order. He barely came back and checked on us throughout the meal. After we finished eating we waited a good ten minutes if not more for the check. I finally had to go inside and ask for it and he still took another 5 minutes to bring it to us. We usually love eating here but our experience this time was the worst.
The food was way overpriced for the portions that we served. The food was inadequately seasoned. Some pieces had so much seasoning on them and other pieces had none. The guacamole had no seasoning and the avocado was slightly brown. Overall, the food just did not measure up.
Excellent food. Very authentic
Loved the habanero chicken tacos
Service improved after I addressed it with the waiter, food was awful, ambience was the best thing going for this restaurant.
It’s very hard to give this review because we spent more time eating chips and drinking than actually enjoying the restaurant. Our service was not great or even close enough to consider worth another shot. We had reservations for 645pm, arrived promptly as some of our party was already arrived. Our order was not taken until 750pm. By the time our food actually arrived, we had been through 3 bowls of chip and salsa, guacamole and quest. None of us hardly touched our food. The only thing quick to come to our table was our checks. $300 for one table of 5 and the food was sub par, service was even worse.
Yes on the margaritas and drinks, but no to the food. Well at least the fajitas we got. I've never seen fajitas not come out on a sizzling pan. They just weren't my favorite fajitas, but the drinks were great!!
Exceptional service! Excellent margaritas! The chicken tacos were “off” this time....I could tell by looking at them that they were much darker than normal. Upon first bite, it was apparent they had been overly seasoned and too much so to eat. Enjoyed the chips, salsa, margarita instead.
