Mexican Festival Restaurant
Excellent great authentic MEXICAN food love it
Friendly and accommodating.. nice culinary experience. Good size portions and good drinks. Service (Rosa) was outstanding!!
We went on a weekday after work to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were seated right away and our food and drinks came right after. I never have luck with HH margaritas but I must say theirs was pretty good! Def would come back and Def recommend!
I went here with 20 friends for my birthday lunch and had a wonderful time! Lara is a wonderful manager and the wait staff took such good care of us. On top of that all, the food was delicious. Loved the Guacamole!
Our waiter and bus boy were fabulous! It was my husbands birthday and they went above and beyond!! Everything was great! Thanks!
We enjoyed our meal on Sunday, so we came back for the Monday Night Special -- Unlimited Enchiladas & Margaritas = $22. (Similar specials on Tuesday and Wednesday.) What a letdown! First they handed us the regular ala carte menu and the expensive list of "daily specials". Strangely, when I said we wanted the Unlimited Enchilada Special they knew nothing about it -- even though it's clearly displayed on the paper handout menu & even though the phone receptionist had told me all about it when I called for reservations. After they spent a lot of time looking at that takeout menu, and discussing it, they finally allowed us to order the Monday Night Special. Next, we were told that we could only have frozen margaritas, not straight up, with the special. Then we were told there was no mole for the enchiladas. My wife was no problem, because she's OK with frozen & doesn't like mole. I was very disappointed because I love mole and don't like frozen margaritas that much. (Too sweet & less tequila flavor.) Finally, they told me I should have called ahead to see if they had mole. WTF? Hey guys, this is your Monday Night Special -- how do you not have what you need to serve your customers? ( I'd hate to think they told me that just because mole costs $1 more on the menu??) After all this, the enchiladas were OK, but the overall experience was really disappointing -- especially after such a good dinner there the night before.
We went for Happy Hour and Dinner. Happy Hour is only at the bar -- but they had a nice table at the bar with tall stools, so we could do Happy Hour and Dinner without having to move. On-the-rocks Margaritas were very good -- not watered down or minisized like happy hour "specials". at other places. We ordered guacamole, which was very good, but it came out with the mains instead of with the drinks. Not a big problem, just sayin'. Our friend had Chili Relleno stuffed with meat, and really enjoyed it. My wife had a steak special, and said it was great -- but $40 was more than we expected to spend when we chose that restaurant. My lamb shank was good, but a bit overcooked. The after-dinner coffee was exceptional. Brian and the others provided very good service, so we really enjoyed ourselves. I'd just say stick to the Mexican standbys, which are always good, if you're watching your budget.
Waiter never came
Well intentioned but awful service, confusion, delays, noise, and mediocrity all around.
Second time I've been there with my girlfriend and I had an excellent night the food is great in the service is great
The food and music was great
The staff was very attentive to us as a large party. The mariachi band came out to sing happy birthday and s few other songs. They got everyone into the mood. The guacamole was fresh made and excellent. All the food for 14 people came out together.
We had a great time
He food was good and the music was great
Great casual Mexican with amazing service. Prices are too high for the overall package but a good meal nonetheless.
I really enjoyed Mexican festival the food was really great and the service was great as well
Food was very par. Service was good. Would be a great place for Happy Hour.
I chose to ignore the poor reviews on this site, but I shouldn’t have. We visited for Mother’s Day, and were served an extremely limited, egregiously expensive specialty menu of terrible food. It was so disappointing and I will never return. Nothing on the restaurant website or on OpenTable indicated that the only thing available on Mother’s Day would be a handful of overpriced, unappealing entrees. The only reason I ordered anything at all was because the waitress was so nice. Next time I’ll pay more attention to reviews!
The quality of the food was disappointing, the menu selection was very limited, and the prices were inappropriately high as well as unmarked on the menu. Service was completely inattentive and the fact that it was Cinco de Mayo is not an excuse as we saw other tables were well attended to.
To give one star is a lot. Came here because there were reservations available for brunch on Saturday May 5 (yes I know, cinco de mayo) we hoped that there would be a better experience since we were a small group and the restaurant was mostly empty but we were wrong. The restaurant was not running their bottomless brunch special which was quite disappointing but on top of that they were not nice or flexible about it. We were trying to be pleasant and be calm and so we ordered a pitcher of margaritas, which we had to pour ourselves, and we are not convinced even had tequila in it. Next we ordered guacamole which was fine (the only good point. We had 3 different waiters come to our table to maybe take our order and finally someone did and we weren't confident that she was correct. When out food arrives, the fajitas had 2 pieces of hair which we sent back right away, another person in our party ordered chicken enchiladas and her chicken was pink and still raw. When we complained we were made to feel as if we were mistaken about these things, there was as excuse for the chicken not being cooked and when the fajitas were brought back the waiter made a comment that the plate was clean. We ordered a round of beers but already had decided we didn't want to leave a tip because of the attitude. When the bill arrived we were surprised to see that not only had we not been comped (common restaurant courtesy to have something taken off the bill when there are multiple issues) BUT they added almost $40 for gratuity for a small group, usually I see that with groups of 6 or more. We only paid the bill and left and you can be sure we will never go back to this place again, i would advise that no one else go there!
Excellent food! Best Sangria, nachos, and shrimp and rice dinner I ever had! It’s not a pretty place, but food is great!
Food is very good but the service is horrible. They were not organized at all. they couldn’t get our orders together in a timely manner, main course came before the apps except for my sons plate which came last. Hard to tell who was doing what there and everyone was too busy to serve. I needed a straw so I got up and got one from the bar. Music was way too loud. Frustrating because the food and drinks are really good. It’s a management issue.
essen gut und preislich angemessen , Cocktails im Bereich von 8-10$
With a reservation, we waited 30 minutes to place our orders and about an hour total to get our food. Any time we placed an additional order, the waiter would take 20 mins to come with it or not show up at all.
Good food, festive ambiance. Had a very good chicken in mole sauce, good service, everyone is very nice. Drinks took a little while to arrive. Frozen margaritas in tall blue-rimmed glasses are festive. I have tasted better (I don't think the lime juice compares with fresh squeezed). Mariachi band played (Besa Me), and while they were on break, a pianist and an absolutely wonderful female operasinger treated us to a few songs (Porgy and Bess?).
Great last night before vacation dinner! Strong drinks and delicious food!
Good place, live music 🎶, we spent nice evening there, the food is not the best Mexican food,
Horrible!!! Made reservations and when we got there they said it would be 45 mins-1 hr before we got seated! Then what's the purpose of having reservations?!?! Not good!
The sangrias were amazing and strong. I would recommend the lamb, the steak and the fajitas which were all delicious. But definitely get the sangrias fro brunch they're not listed on the menu but are available.
The restaurant was not terribly busy and the kitchen was backed up. Normally, I'm pretty patient but the management at the restaurant pretended that nothing was wrong. Food finally came, it was tasty but by that point we weren't hungry. When the check came, it was the full bill, not even the drinks taken off. Done with this local place for a while.
Went on a Sunday evening for dinner with 3 people. Service was unorganized, and incredibly slow. Took nearly and hour to get an order of nachos and roast pork entree. On top of that, they ran out of avocados, and had to cancel our guacamole order. The food is actually good, the experience was brutal though.
Had a super authentic mexican meal recently with great music and singing...very friendly staff....cool margaritas....and allround good value. A must for morningsiders!
Fun place to eat...unless you want to have conversation with people you are sitting with. Live music...very loud. Recorded music....very loud. When we were leaving, the best part was live opera being sung. I had been told that opera singers come to eat/sing here. Unfortunately they started when we were done eating. The place is very festive....just too loud for talking during dinner.
This is our last-minute dinner for New Years, and it was such a fun treat! The Mariachi band is incredible, and adds such a fun atmosphere to the restaurant. Also, the drinks are huge, fun, and instagram worthy! Food was solid...nothing special but good enough. We didn't know there would be a New Years menu, so would have liked more transparency on that, but otherwise good!
Simplyyyy AMAZINGGGGGG..... my friend and I went for their New Years eve/New Year pre fixed Menu and masquerade party... simply amazing The only thing I wished was that they had more options for the App and Entrees for the pre-fixe menu . Overal experience if was ENERGETIC loved the Live dj and The mariach band. The Staff and Manager was very attentive and Checked on us every now and then. The Dessert OMG the Tres leche was AMAZING AND TO DIE FOR... We will definitely come back craving the Tres Leche cake as We speakkkkk
Great food with excellent service. We especially enjoyed the Mexican band playing catchy tunes at our table - great fun
Great place. Excellent food and attention. The only problem was that, being very crowded, it is quite noisy
Perfect place for a fun and festive Saturday night! Along with perfectly mixed tequila and rum cocktails you can listen to live mariachi music -- such a unique treat in NYC. I had the chiles rellenos and they were great, not too saucy. Will definitely come back.
It took a very long time for the waiter to come over.....then whenever we needed him, he was no where to be found, but we do love it there
I walked by and saw a lively bar scene, so decided to take my kids for a birthday dinner. I also got a child friendly takeout dish.
It was okay, but really just okay. They tried to seat us in the large second room, which was absolutely empty and freezing -- and had bulky, stuffy furniture. We moved to the area near the bar, which was a bit better, but still too cold to properly enjoy a margarita. The service was attentive and friendly and the food was just fine, nothing to rave about, but totally acceptable.
The food is not great. The enchiladas did not taste like enchiladas. The rice and frijoles were bad! The customer service and ambience is great. The mariachis are very good also. More of a place to drink and eat chips and guac. The non Mexican dishes are decent (salmon, steak).
