Sometimes the dish sounds odd but the flavors never disappoint! Always delicious! Chicken and any schnitzel are fantastic!
Friendly staff, great cocktails and perfectly prepared food. Highly recommend!
Great food and service! Nice quaint atmosphere too!
Another outstanding experience - from ambience (this time on the sidewalk), to service (unsurpassed), to dinner (wonderful) this night out was wonderful, which is always the case at Metzger.
Cozy. Smaller tables.
So good! My partner had not had German food and was thoroughly impressed. Bartender was fantastic. We will be back!
The food was absolutely wonderful. We had the crab croquettes, schnitzel, and duck breast.
Terrific meal - despite the connotations of “German” being heavy cuisine, the dishes were light, full of flavor and umami with perfectly balanced acidity. Great space and friendly service. Super interesting wine list by the bottle.
Wonderful experience all around!
The pork Schnitizel is excellent and served with a nice salad. The fish was excellent but came without any vegetables. I regret that. I would have preferred something green or a side dish as good as the trout. I'll go back again and again for the schnitzel. The appiteziers were excellent. Don;t forget to get a beer..any kind will do.
The wait staff was very timely and anticipatory. Very satisfied with the food, great place to go for a romantic dinner!
Metzger is one of our favorite all time places In RVA. All round delicious and great service. We love it.
Amazing food, amazing service. We loved every bite and every sip.
The food was out of this world! The best meal I’ve had out in Richmond in a long time. Our waitress was knowledgeable and so fun to talk with! We will definitely be back.
We had the worst waitress we have ever had at dinner. She basically ignored us the entire time, didn’t check on us and was just rude and nasty. Will not go back based on her.
Both the food and the service were terrific. Highly recommended.
Absolutely incredible food and cocktails. Clams, Country Ham, Lamb Meatballs and schnitzel were amazing.
They have stepped up their game again!
Our bar was low after a mediocre Restaurant Week experience years ago, but we were blown away. The food and service were both impeccable. Cocktails were strong and creative, and the schnitzel was perfect. Most notable: grilled octopus (best in Richmond!) and roasted clams, I wanted to drink the broth. Highly recommend!
I love this place. The food is indescribably delicious. So glad you survived this last year and that you are back to inside dining.
Great meal overall! The country ham plate was the best appetizer. The duck was fabulous, the schnitzel could have used a bit more of the sauce, and the trout tasted great. Cocktails and mocktails were delicious. I appreciate that bartender really being creative with the mocktails. Definitely will be coming back.
Food was excellent, drinks very good as well. Did not disappoint. We will be back!
Everything was perfect and the food was divine
Metzger never disappoints! We loved their expanded patio seating and seasonal cocktails. The food is just incredible - roasted clams and an asparagus salad were the stars of our meal. A must-visit on the Richmond restaurant scene.
A good restaurant experience is everything one can imagine … an outstanding experience is everything one can’t imagine… Metzger is the latter!
Been a long time since we had been here. Food was excellent, service, perfect. Interesting menu with unique options, a really good meal and pleasant time.
Haven’t been here in a while, but it definitely surpassed expectations and my memories. Everything was delicious.
Food and staff excellent - a bit pricey for what you get.
Pork schnitzel delicious/but nothing else with it - potatoes or spaetzel, etc.
Appetizers, wine and dessert were outstanding also.
Nice place for a celebration.
Metzger may be the best restaurant ever. It is certainly my favorite.
The food is always fantastic as is the service! Continues to be my favorite restaurant in Richmond!
This is a great restaurant! my absolute favorite in Richmond - I travel to Richmond on occasion and this time was even better than previously - hail to the chef for preparing most scrumptious trout dish - really tasted a fresh trout with fine sauce and herbs - schnitzel is back! scrumptious - crispy and moist inside- like it should be! The new patio is tastefully designed - please keep it (post Covid) - again best place I will always return to!
Great food, great service and lively, loud inside dining. Would definitely return. We were sad that they were out of the grilled octopus but loved the lamb meatballs - a must get- and the roasted clams with bratwurst. Fun cocktails too!
Schnitzel was solid. Service was terrible. And they seemed to have plenty of servers and a bartender for the six or so tables dining there. No reason given or apology for the 20 minute wait for beers or the forgotten appetizers.
The food was very good, though the menu was limited. The staff were very nice and accommodating, but a little slow in bringing simple things. The noise level was kind of high, though. They did turn the music down some with no hesitation when we asked (we were there early and were the only ones customers there at the time) - but it was still a bit much for us, especially since it's all hard surfaces and kind of clangy.
This is place is GREAT if you have no problems with ambient noise. We'd love to go back and sit outside in the covered porch in the spring or fall and enjoy the great food.
All around great experience
Awesome restaurant. We were travelling up the coast and stopped in Richmond for a night. The food at the restaurant was fantastic.... and the entire team was helpful in explaining the delicious drinks / beers and menu.
The 3 appetizers we had-- the octopus, roasted clams and lamb meatballs were all excellent-- well spiced, and really yummy.
We split the porkchop as a main and it was the best porkchop I can remember having with a good amount of heat and the black garlic romesco was to die for.
The chocolate coriander tart for dessert was a great end to a delicious meal...
Having worked for a german company in the past and spent time over in Frankfurt, the Metzger food was the best "german" food I've ever eaten.
If you live in Richmond, or are there on travel or business-- this is a must go to eat!
Great service ! Mouth full of flavors that melded perfectly! Creative menu as well as plated sooo pretty ! We had a great date night!
Amazing food and service. Went for our anniversary and they surprised us with a champagne toast and a little treat. Pork chop and Chicken Schnitzel were both incredible, also the country ham plate with SubRosa bread was phenomenal. Can't recommend highly enough.
We had a lovely meal at MBB! Enjoyed the comfortable service, thoughtful and creative menu, delicious food, and neighborhood vibe.
Our one experience here was not great but I believe it was a one off due to Covid and weird weather patterns which no one can predict or control. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only outdoor seating was available. Unfortunately, the weather took a turn for the worse and it was freezing outside. There were heaters, but not enough to satisfy each table. Service was slow, they might have been short staffed. I don't know as no one addressed this.
While waiting for one's table, it was necessary to stand in the cold while tables got turned. Drinks were served but there was no place to set them down if you wanted to. Nor could you sit down during this wait.
I definitely want to go back once service is back to normal and the weather is more conducive to outdoor dining--or even eat inside when it's possible. The food was fantastic!
