I've never had a bad meal. It's one of the nicest restaurants
in the area.

Not the most attentive service. So many staff members take your order and deliver your food that you don't really know who the server is. Food was excellent and the wine list is extensive. I would recommend for the restaurant to get a specialty cocktail list.

Another great meal start to finish. Recommend the pasta bolognase we split an order as an appetizer. Outstanding service from our waiter John.

Honestly... we paid for the ambience, I guess. The meal was underwhelming. I order the filet mignon off the prix fixe and it wasn't seasoned and our meals were room temperature. The wait staff never asked if we wanted a second drink and the salads were lackluster. It's beautiful, but not at all worth $90/pp.

The Metuchen Inn is a long time gem in the Borough and is really the only true "fine dining" experience in a town with many exceptionally good and varied eating places. Drinks are well crafted, the menu always has interpreting and varied items, the food is well prepared and service is excellent. It's a Metuchen tradition and with good reason. I always look forward to a return visit.

An early Valentine’s Day dinner. We were warmly greeted on arrival. Our coats were taken and we were immediately shown to our table. It was not crowded so we had a very leisurely dinner. The lobster bisque was very good, as always. My companion had the short ribs and I had the venison special. Both were tasty and done properly.

I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years and the food is the best I've ever tasted.
The service is usually very good. Ambiance varies from cozy to noisy, depending on the crowd and night of the week. A three course meal with a bottle of wine will run you over $200, but the experience is well worth it. A great place to treat that special someone in your life to a birthday dinner. Trust me- you'll love this place!

Wonderful ambiance, outstanding food..... a few issues need to be tweaked, such as getting rid of the diner pepper shaker when one requests pepper... at the prices for the meal invest in pepper grinders! Also if food has to be packaged to take home , don’t use the cheapest take out containers... my container was crushed and rendered the contents inedible... I may as well have just tossed the $38 for the entree
