Metuchen Inn is always a 5 star experience. The trip from Staten Island always worth it.
This restaurant is the meeting place between locations, and we love it. Their are really no bad tables, the bar is lovely if you choose to eat in there or if you have to wait. Our table was waiting when we arrived, and the waiter and maitre d allowed us to chat without feeling rushed. The food is always consistently good. The portions are on the smaller side (not a bad thing), but not tiny. They are open to some changes. They want you to be pleased. We come back again and again.
Always an enjoyable experience. Food and service excellent. This was on Mother's Day and the restaurant was packed but still everything went smoothly. Staff attentive. Food excellent.
Great restaurant, fantastic good, amazing service. Does a Nice job catering to Vegetarians. George was pur server and he was very attentive and knowledgeable.
Meal was outstanding! One of the best I have ever enjoyed!
One negative is the noise level was so high it was uncomfortable for my group.
Big time food and small town prices! Great find in Metuchen
Just moved to the Edison area. Have gone out several times. This is the best food and service I've had yet.
The Metuchen Inn is amazing! We are here for the first time today. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. The Calamari was incredible and I don’t love Calamari in general, but this was awesome. My sister in law and I had the short ribs, which were out of this world. My wife had the rack of lamb which she loved and my brother in law had the short rib ravioli which he also loved. After dinner we had the cheesecake which was also really really good. Most of all the service was great. Everyone was very nice and attentive. We will return!
Very slow service. Was disappointed because I had a fantastic meal here a few months ago and chose to have my birthday dinner here based on that experience.
It seemed like they were seating all Asian guests in the same corner, which maybe wasn't intentional but sure felt like it was. Not sure what that's about but it immediately made me feel extremely uncomfortable.
I overheard a waiter say that there was a huge party going on upstairs which was maybe the reason the service was slow but it got fairly ridiculous. The waiters would literally come in, see our empty glasses, and leave without refilling them. They forgot to bring a knife for my mom's dinner and acted almost offended to have to do it. The waitress dropped bread, plates, etc. maybe it was her first day but it was a lot.
I ordered a second cocktail that by all appearances, was forgotten about until we were asking for the check. It shouldn't take half an hour to notice an order hasn't been fulfilled. We decided to skip dessert because the lack of service was getting frustrating, at which point our waiter noticed I still didn't have my drink. We asked for our check and he asked a few times if we didn't want champagne on the house (not sure if this is a regular thing the do or they realized we weren't too happy about how the night went) and we declined because not everyone was drinking. We said to forget my missing cocktail and just bring the check. He brought my drink because they had made it anyway (but never delivered it? Who knows) and then said he'd take it off our check because I should get something for my birthday..
It was extremely disappointing to spend my birthday this way and I don't know if I will return.
Found the Inn in open table. The food was plentiful and light. The pasta dishes were wonderful and the service was impeccable. We dined on a Thursday evening and it appeared to be many business meeting dinners taking place.
So good we rebooked a table for Saturday evening.
Metuchen Inn consistently delivers a romantic evening, great food, impeccable service, beautiful atmosphere. Always made to feel special.
Great service and experience
The place had to much going on private party special celebrate for dinner.
Food was ok not exceptional
The food at the metuchen inn never disappoints. We celebrated a birthday and the inn made sure we had champagne for the toast.
Our whole party (8) were very satisfied with our Easter dinner at the Metuchen Inn. The crab tower was fabulous and refreshing. Six of us ordered the lamb chops and they were out of this world. So tender and delicious. All were happy! I would recommend the Metuchen Inn most definitely.
As always this restaurant top notch
Food was delicious. Servers were attentive and top notch. Portions a little small. But glad we tried it. Always wanted to go there. Classy place but comfortable
Incredible experience overall. Our waiter acknowledged our anniversary with a complimentary glass of champagne and they decorated our dessert plate to celebrate our occasion. I truly appreciate that the restaurant went over the top with the details and it made for a very memorable night with my girlfriend. This place remains at my top 5 restaurants of all time and I frequent a TON of restaurants every year, so that says a lot about this place. The Metuchen Inn is a hidden gem that everyone needs to experience.
Service is always great. Friendly and efficient. Food is superb
The Metuchen Inn is consistently very good! I eat here twice a year with my parents. Last Sunday was very busy, but they moved us into a quiet area where I was able to speak with my party of three. They provided a champagne toast for our special occasion (birthday) and it was very good. The food was well made (braised beef and crab meat ravioli's ) were good. The foie gras was excellent. There weren't many specials and the service was on the slow side (unusual), but we were not in a hurry. Overall, the meal was excellent and we left very happy (and full).
My experience is that the food is always excellent here, but sadly the service was not this visit. We never received a bread basket, nor the other items that I thought accompany that. We waited FOREVER for water, and the glasses were never replenished. Our waitress did happen to mention that she was new, but we shouldn't have to have an inferior experience because of that.
I enjoyed the evening as it is a beautiful setting. Small portions with NYC prices just makes me not want to recommend it to people. Nice wine list though. Just not a good value for the money.
I enjoy dining at the Metuchen Inn as often as possible! Although the menu changes periodically, the braised short ribs are so, so, so good! The service is beyond great. You always feel like you are a special friend!
Constantine and his staff are attentive and accommodating. The food is fantastic! The Metuchen Inn is always a great experience!
Everyone in our party enjoyed their lunch and were happy with the service.
Exceptional food and service. A real gem of a restaurant in Metuchen.
We made a last minute reservation because we were out in the area, and the staff could not have been nicer. The service was excellent and so was the food! I will definitely go back
Just ate at the Metuchen Inn this past Saturday. The food was delicious, everyone is welcoming, and the service is great. Will be going back again!
My experience at the Metuchen Inn was outstanding. Was greeted warmly by the owners and made to feel special. The menu options and specials were terrific and made my final selection a challenge. My meal, filet mignon was superb, as was the mushroom soup. The service was personable and professional. I highly recommend dining at the Metuchen Inn for lunch or dinner.
From the moment we walked in we knew it was going to be an enjoyable experience. I was asked if I wanted to hang my coat and as I handed it to the young woman she (jokingly) asked if I wanted her to take my purse. My husband the pork special and I had the fish special both were delicious. My husband had a bottle of red wine and I had white and our server, Georgio, made sure our glasses were never empty. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable! We will be back soon.
Great food however table service was very slow. The cuisine will earn another visit. Everyone can have an off day.
our waiter george was very knowledgable and gave us plenty of time. constantine, the owner, spent time with us and explained the history if the inn. we had the lobster soup, scallops, crabmeat ravioli and prime rib. all were perfect! we will definitely be back!
Another outstanding dining experience at the Metuchen Inn. Everything was perfect.
Food was great- service beyond checking in was excellent.
The food was amazing. The meatball app is a must. However the service was slow. We we're seated quickly but sat for quite a while before a waiter came to even take our drink order. The drinks took a long time with no bread or anything but a a glass of water. Before the drinks came the waiter came again to take our dinner order. We had to ask for bread which arrived with our drinks a minute before the apps did. Once the food started arriving all was well. This was the first weekend night after Valentine's Day so I will allow for that. I would love to return when there is no special day near by on the calendar.
As always, we absolutely love The Metuchen Inn! The staff, the food and the atmosphere. All excellent! The staff goes above and beyond to make sure that all of their customers feel special. It was a wonderful date night for me and my wife.
Very good food, but a bit expensive for the portion. Not a very romantic restaurant. Very bright and loud. I would like sitting at the bar next time.
Food was perfect. The ambiance was spectacular. Highly recommend for a date or dinner with family.
The food and wine list are IMPECCABLE... but our waiter was not very attentive
