Metropolitan Bistro Ratings and Reviews
We can’t understand why this restaurant was not more crowded on a recent Saturday night. Food, service and surroundings are all very good. While I wouldn’t call it five-star dining, everything on the menu was well-prepared. In the winter, what’s special about this place is its location off the beaten path, where you can avoid the usual frenzy of Saturday night dining. And in summer, the outdoor space is a great place to enjoy a good glass of white and a good piece of fish late on a Sunday afternoon. This is a good, solid place for a nice meal.
We have eaten here many times but it was just so so this night. I had the whole fish which was flooded in sauce. I had asked for the sauce on the side but our waitress said it needed the sauce. I would not have it again. Our waitress was a tad in the zone. She was nice, just kind of somewhere else. She asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu and we said sure. We waited a long time and then she brought us the check! We just paid it and left. We tipped her well as we usually do. No hard feelings, just wasn’t her night.
We love Metro and go there often, especially in the summer when it's great to sit outside. On a quiet street and not buggy. Varied selections of well-prepared food made with high quality ingredients.
Casual, friendly environment - service is great and owners are terrific. Highly recommend.
Music was awesome with Chris Kinnear . Food was exceptional . Heirloom Tomato Salad, Beet & Gorgonzola Salad and the Cod entree. Dessert GF carrot cake cupcake. All beautifully done.Service was friendly and attentive. BTW, they have at least 3 GF desserts! ⭐️🍽🍷
The Metropolitan Bistro is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is always fresh. The staff and service always has a smile. The owners come by to say hello.
And their gluten-free carrot cupcake is one of the best I have ever eaten...& when I choose to share with my gluten friends they love it too!
Looking forward to my next dinner with my friends.
Great service , nice live music playing and delicious as always. We had the lobster sliders for our appetizer, very fresh, not too much mayo , and the bread was perfect. I had the sliced sirloin and my friend had the roasted chicken, both cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the cheesecake was wonderfully creamy and not overly sweet. Kudos to the bartender too - our martinis and margaritas were delicious and strong.
We have been to Metropolitan Bistro a few times. They do everything well. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated. They have a nice American Grill menu, with excellent fish, pasta and meat choices. We started with mussels, a soup du jour French onion soup, and a few salads, all excellent. Mains were gnocchi bolognese, the parparadella dish and the hamburger. All were "lick your plate" good. A special shout out to the hand made crinkle cut fries ( more like potato chips) that come with the burger. They have a lovely outdoor terrace for in season dining. Sadly for us, it even though still summer, it was not outdoor dining weather during our visit. This is an excellent neighborhood restaurant, and highly recommended.
Very nice neighborhood restaurant. Food is average+. Great atmosphere. Staff is super friendly. We put a pizza on the table as an appetizer-everyone took a slice and loved it. The beet salad is delish-there were a ton of beets and dressed nicely. Our family had a very nice, enjoyable time. Too bad it was too cool that evening to eat outdoors.
This was my first time here and the food was great. I had the salmon over quinoa which was delicious, however, the service wasn't great. The bartender was slow and didn't know what was on the drink menu when we sat down at the bar prior to being seated at our table (even though there were no other patrons at the bar) and the waitress forgot our drinks and was hard to find. Hopefully a one-off situation & I would definitely return. The food and ambiance of the place outweighed the distracted wait-staff.
Took my friend out for her birthday to Metropolitan Bistro. They have outdoor dining and indoors a nice, cozy dining area. We ate outdoors on a warm, humid evening. Atmosphere was perfect. We both ended up ordering the same exact thing - Beet Salad for starters, and Chicken Francaise for dinner. The Beet Salad was amazing! I have never (really never) had so many beets in a salad at any restaurant. I asked for light dressing and only a little gorgonzola cheese. The salad was perfectly dressed and delicious. The Chicken Francaise was very tasty and not overly salted. Perfect. I ended the evening with a double espresso and cheesecake. My friend had a cinnamon coffee cake muffin which was a nice size. She took 1/2 of her dessert home.
We really loved the place and it's atmosphere. Our waiter was funny and personable. He realized we were "catching up" all evening and didn't bother us for 3-1/2 hours except to ask if we wanted more wine, and to take our orders. I expect to dine here often, even if it's 35-40 minutes away from home.
This is our second time . Great vibe, very airy, always packed full of ppl.
We had specialty pizza, salmon and chicken dish s. All had drinks; appetizers were split - caesar and beet salads . Dessert choc torte great ; wasn't fond of cinnamon cupcake . Coffee freshly brewed . Great friends night out and never rushed ! Thanks Again!
I ordered gnocchi that unfortunately tasted like hard potatoes. You could have bought them PROCESSED @ Stop & Shop & NUKED them yourself & Done much better. They were awful.
My husband ordered the chicken with lemon and rosemary, I think. It sounded divine and it was abysmal.
Our friends who just moved here from Johannesburg ordered 2 Chivas (they were OUT) & 2 steaks totally average, @best.
We've lived here for 12 years and we couldn't remember why we only came here 1 other time.
Now we remember.
We thoroughly enjoyed an outdoor table at this place late on a mild summer Sunday afternoon. We had excellent salad appetizers, and fish and chicken entrees. We will definitely return. While we appreciated the artists' efforts, the addition of live music near the end of our dinner actually kind of disrupted the quiet outdoor atmosphere. But we know the restaurant meant well in providing music. We will be back.
Great neighborhood find ! Food was really good . Bistro Mediterranean atmosphere . We sat indoors but it's an open window / door restaurant . We had the salmon special and the pizza . Dessert was the chocolate torte which was amazing . Drinks and coffee also great . Service was very attentive and would definitely return again .
We love the atmosphere, the food, sitting outside and the energy and attention of the owners! Pretty good band was playing last night. However, we always feel that the place is a bit too noisy for further conversation once the band starts playing so it's good to arrive before hand and get most of the conversation over then sit back and enjoy the music!
2 couples for drinks and dinner. We were seated right away, we opted to sit outside. Our waitress was lovely. Cocktails and appetizers came out quickly, and we're delicious. Entrees were cooked perfectly, and very flavorful. We moved inside for dessert and coffee (it started to rain), the music was just starting. We listened to a local band, and enjoyed coffee and a chocolate flourless dessert that was amazing. We will definitely be back.
