My husband took me here for my birthday and it was great. The food was creative and delicious. The scallops had a mix of flavors that on their own felt out of place, but when eaten together were absolutely delicious. My husband had the duck three ways. It was fantastic. Both our deserts were great as well.
The service was very good without being too much. The tables are close together but it never felt too loud. Now that my husband works down the street we will definitely come here again. Thanks for giving me a memorable birthday!
Delicious food. Very good quality. It is more on the pricey side, but every cent worse.
We eat here at least once a month, it is one of our go to restaurants in the neighborhood. The people are friendly, the food is always good and fresh and the service is always friendly and attentive, not overbearing. One of our favorite neighborhood spots and reasonably priced.
I NEVER regret choosing to eat at Metropolis. Just when I begin to grow bored with their menu, they add a new twist to the printed menu or offer an enticing special. If I had to choose one restaurant to eat at for the rest of my life -- it would be Metropolis. It's comfortable and relaxed, the portions are reasonable so I don't leave feeling that I've completely over-eaten, wait staff is friendly, food is yummy and satisfying, and the place is undeniably charming.
Everything was sooooo delicious and the service was great!
I like that they change the menu from time to time but always keep dedicated vegetarian options on there. Appetizers, entrees and desserts are all expertly prepared and delicious. Do wish there were more than just a few signature cocktails but the wine list is fairly extensive.
This was my second time here and it was great! I’ve needed this place to deliver a great experience for me twice now and they did a great job both times. Metropolis will be a go to place for me if I’m hosting guests in town and taking them out. Does cost money, but people love their meals here.
Delicious food and wine. This restaurant has a great neighborhood feel and an intimate setting. Brought a colleague here who wanted to experience the kind of place that Boston locals would enjoy.
I have many meals here and they always have been great.Tonight the story was different.I ordered from the dine out Boston menu.My appetizer salad was delicious.I ordered the swordfish which was overcooked and dry. The poached pear was also over cooked .
It was a disappointing meal.
Great, awesome atmosphere.
Best tomato soup ever. Perfect balance of flavors, texture and nice and light. Asparagus tartare was delicious, as well. Swordfish Au Poivre is misnamed but our excellent server clarified that and it was excellent. She also served the perfect martinis shaken just enough so that they were frosty but not diluted. It was a bonus that it was Dining Out week so quite reasonable and she checked at the start regarding theatre plans exit time and put orders in early to accommodate that. I’m sorry I cannot recall her name. First time there and I found many things that I am looking forward to trying on future visits. Highly recommended!
Great food, great service and it was beautiful
Food was delicious from appetizers to meal for all of us and service friendly. Dessert was just ok. Purchased a bottle of wine which was reasonably priced and very good. Would definitely recommend this restaurant
Great meal, every part was excellent. Service to match. Definitely going back.
Excellent food and great service despite crowds! Great experience.
All three meals were absolutely delicious. The menu was creative. We could have ordered multiple items. I love this restaurant!
What a cute little gem on Tremont Street! My friends and I really enjoyed the Metropolis Cafe. It was small and cozy. I had the lamb ragu and was blown away. We were able to enjoy a couple bottles of wine and our waiter was fantastic in recommendations.
We had the prefixed dinner with three courses and it was awesome.
Excellent food and service. The tables are a bit tight and the noise level a bit high (both the music and the ambient conversation). Would definitely come again, though.
I love everything about this cozy little spot!
Never fails to prove wonderfully memorable in all ways
Awesome! Food simply amazing.
Incredible experience all around. The food was TO DIE FOR (I had the beet and goat cheese risotto - holy moley!), our waiter was attentive, kind, and knowledgeable. I instantly recommended to a bunch of friends. I had been needing an fancy date night and this was the perfect spot.
they have well deserved their 5 star rating on open table
Most of our dishes were really great and the service and ambiance were great so 5 stars overall. One dish was kind of missing something - the goat cheese risotto didn’t seem to have any goat cheese or tang or anything like that, kinda wondered if it was forgotten but both of the dishes were bland. The other dishes had us raving though. Cocktails were excellent. I’ll go back.
Loved our waiter Mikey! Food was delicious and the ambiance was very cozy. Great for small groups or a date night
just love, love this restaurant. never disappointed!!!
I wanted a cozy intimate spot to eat with my husband before the symphony. This restaurant checked all my boxes. Lovely!
Great meal!
Just a great experience overall once again. Small bistro atmosphere but great staff, food and ambiance. Not great for big groups on busy night but intimate dinners or going out with a few friends.
Four of us went to Metropolis after a theater performance on a Saturday in February. We arrived a little early and it was slammed, but the hostess got us wine and helped us find space to stand in the very tight restaurant. Our table was ready 2 minutes early which impressed us, given the crowd. Food was terrific, especially the veal. the beet carpaccio was remarkable and a hit. The creme brulee was lovely.
the consensus is that Metropolis is a fun, lively, bistro and we'd love to go back.
Metropolis Cafe is always dependable, always that perfect combination of really good food, appropriately priced, friendly, efficient service. The right choice any time.
The food was terrific and our waiter could not have been more helpful.
Great food, great atmosphere. I thought the cauliflower leek gratin was outstanding!
Some of our food was fantastic and some was ordinary and undercooked and had to go back. The atmosphere and drinks are great. It's not cheap, so I might just go back for apps and drinks sometime.
we just love coming to this gem! Always leave happy with our experience
One of my favorite South End restaurants! Metropolis never disappoints. This visit was on a Wednesday evening--on our way to a show at the BCA--and they accommodated our schedule perfectly. The prix fixe option is a particularly good value, but everything on the menu is reasonably priced and, in my experience, truly delicious. You can't make a wrong choice.
This was our second time at the restaurant and we all raved about it. Cozy feel to the space. We reserved on Open Table and were seated promptly. Fresh iggy's bread with olive oil, garlic and butter. small specialty cocktail list. Tasted a few wines before we decided on a great bottle. I had a bisque with risotto. Top notch. So much flavor. Service excellent. Others in our group had chicken and potatoes. yum. Fresh fish and the past and sausage dish. Too full for dessert. would definitely come here again. Just like the vibe and food a lot. !!!
This was my third time at Metropolis, and it has bee consistently great! Going back there with friends next weekend.
Great food. Somewhat limited menu. They have priced fixe which is good. The restaurant is small ; hostess and wait staff(excellent waiter—can’t remember name) are accommodating.
I’ve gone both times in the winter and there’s a chill despite the heavy velvet curtain blocking the outside door. Other than that...the food is 5 star.
We went here for dinner on New Year's Eve and it was so lovely! The ambiance was great and the food was delicious (both vegetarian and meat-eater were pleased). The cocktails looked really yummy too but we didn't have any. There were many couples on dates and a big table of friends too. Good spot for any occasion.
