This restaurant totally took me by surprise. We booked it because it is close to the theater, but wow we lucked out because literally everything from the drinks to the desserts are excellent.

Friendly comfortable Italian. Lots of classic dishes with a few surprises and non-Italian options. Dining room is bustling, more of a family celebration place.

Lovely pre-theater dinner. Service was attentive, food was very good, and being there before the busy Friday dinner crowd was excellent

My sister and I had a lite dinner prior to going to McCarter Theater for a show (Empire Records, musical) on a weeknight. The service, food and ambience was all excellent. Highly recommend Metro North. Patti

Such a delicious lunch! The waitress took excellent care of us while giving us plenty of time for a nice long chat. The bussers were also gracious. It was our first time; can’t wait to go back!!

Sampled two new items on the menu this time. Wow. Very, very tasty. First was an entree item, Vodka Rigatoni with a spicy twist. Small pieces of spicy sausage were mixed in with the pasta and sauce, giving this standard Italian offering a welcome kick to the palate. Spice strength was good for me, strong but not to the point of tears or copious gulps of water. The second was a dessert based on doughnut holes covered with sugar and cinnamon, plus vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. Delightful finish, coupled with some hot, black tea. Metro North never ceases to tempt and amaze me. Comfortable surroundings, a wide and delectable menu and a staff always eager to please. Try it.
