Worst service ever. Waiter was not the least bit apologetic and did not even inform us our meal would take an hour. Did not come and refill coffee and had to be tracked down if needing anything. We were pretty much the only ones seated in main restaurant and were not informed about parties being served ahead of us. We were there for a birthday but will not go back. Food was marginal for the cost. Honestly couldn't believe how the waiter could have cared less that we weren't being served and didn't even feel obligated to tell us when we sat down--with a reservation--that we'd be waiting well over an hour.
Service was very friendly and considerate. Thought the table might have flowers or some decoration considering brunch and spring. Nothing really. Food was fine, nothing special and nothing I could not get at Maxfields or elsewhere. Rather plain actually. Thought there might be sweet rolls or something on the table first and passable. And thought entrees would come with a side of fruit. Just really more plain than I expected.
Bloody Mary's very spicy. Not sure I will return for Brunch, but try another meal, as in the past the food has been really good here.
My wife and I visited for downtown dining week. The starters and entrees were very good. We took the desserts to go. I ordered the lemon lingonberry tartlets and my wife ordered the flourless chocolate torte. We got home and we both had the chocolate torte in the two to go boxes. Granted I didn't check the boxes before we left but I feel like I shouldn't have to check them for accuracy. Taught me to check to go boxes for accuracy now I guess.
Love the brunch and lunch menus and are regular guests at Metro at those times. Dinner menu variety is limited, but the portions are large, and most of what is prepared is flavorful (haven't tried everything). Wish there was a burger are the dinner menu. The service is wonderful.
My husband and I came here for downtown dining week, as he's never been. They're great with food allergies. I always have been able to eat safely. Our waiter was great. The service was slow, but we had no pressing plans after dinner. The food was excellent. I'd bring my husband back.
Very cozy and warm atmosphere. The service was excellent. The host and waiter were efficient and kind and helpful. It might have been what we ordered - I would be willing to try again, but my husband's fish was way too buttery and my pasta dish was gloppy. Too rich for my taste. The Caesar salad was great and enough for two. Because of the service and atmosphere, we will try again with different entrees.
Our meals were just ok, nothing special, needed help. My husband sent back his chicken dish with pasta - the sauce (which I also tasted) had absolutely NO taste. My duck dish was just ok, nothing great. We wouldn't return......beautiful place but they need MUCH better chefs! The place could be SO much better!!!!
Very busy Friday. It is martini Friday so the bar was packed and loud. Food was very good. Meal seemed rushed , more so because of your wait staff (we think), hard to imagine that the kitchen was that fast. But we have been there several times , food is consistently very good so we will return
The general atmosphere is wonderful and the service is superb. Unfortunately the food didn't attain the same level of excellence. Duck breast was good, but the plate was three quarters fingerling potatoes and the entire plate was covered in greens. Beef tips were not consistent -a few were cooked perfectly but most were overdone. We'll stop for drinks in the future but will head elsewhere for dinner.
I'm assuming because we had a Living Social Voucher we were seated in a back room banquet hall. Did not get to experience the ambiance of the "Metro" when sitting in the back room. Very disappointing as I heard good things about Metro.
Because of my experience I would not recommend nor go back.
The asparagus appetizer and French Onion soup were awesome. The soup was probably the best French Onion I have had. Our waiter, Jesse was superb. He was attentive but not hovering, knowledgable about the menu item and very pleasant. He is a keeper. Will definitely return.
The food is wonderful here. The service was attentive. The four of us had four different things, and they were all fantastic. Chicken, salmon, pork chops all wow. They have happy hour prices on some drinks and beer. The 2 guys enjoyed the special on Old Fashions for $5. We love this place.
We had a coupon and off we went for a New Year's Day celebration (verses New Year's Eve with heavy crowds.) The place was lovely--the couch benches with pillows for seating added a bit of loveliness. The service was beyond our expectations! Would do this again!
We had a 15-person group that arrived for a late breakfast on fairly short notice. The staff was extremely accommodating, getting our drink orders as the tables were being prepared and generally being available for requests. The service was outstanding, and the food was very good as well. Overall, we had a fantastic experience.
I had heard wonderful things about Metro, but was a little wary of trying it because I thought it was going to be over the top and uncomfortable. To my delight, it was every bit as upscale as I imagined, but very relaxed. The wait staff was incredible, the mood and setting was classy but warm and inviting, and the food was phenomenal.
Pretty disappointed with our visit. They were apologizing for the service before we sat down, and they were right. Everything slow, not well coordinated between drinks, appetizers, etc. Some very nice parts - the duck breast was great, as was the filet mignon and chicken parmigiana. Both the duck and filet came with sliced fingerlings, and then I think baked like frozen french fries - they were bland, dry, overcooked, really not good. The duck breast had a handful of arugula just dropped on top - nothing to dress it at all. The 1 lb bone in ribeye was a huge piece, but only about a half to ¾ inch thick. Asked for medium, came out medium rare to rare. Sent back and came back medium well - no way a cut like that should be so thin. Desserts were quite good across the board, especially the apple pecan dessert. Disappointed in a restaurant I used to love. probably won't return.
Everyone in our party was able to find something that they thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were very friendly and responded quickly to our requests.
Only strike against them, they did not have our Open Door reservation in their system. Luckily they were able to fit in our group.
We have had a great experience in the past with the Metro Living Social deals, so when they advertised another recently we decided to give it a try.
We were seated in a different area this time, closer to the bar. It made it difficult to talk over the noise.
The service was good and the servers friendly.
The food was not as good as with previous meals. The asparagus in the appetizer we ordered was a bit undercooked and tough. The duck was a bit undercooked and touch as well, not tender with a crispy outside as it was described. The walleye was very good.
The desserts were great!
Overall it was still a nice experience, but not what we had hoped for from previous visits.
