First visit for we visitors to Layfayette (first visit for our local relatives as well). Good wines by the glass selection, plus nice long bottled wine list. We all loved our meals, will return when visiting next time.
We like the Metro, usually go for drinks and snacks. This time we went for dinner and our waiter, who may be a nice person, was absolutely disinterested in "serving"...not at all attentive, never cracked a smile, appeared to be slightly 'put out' when we asked for anything...from menus to ordering etc...probably will not be spending 'dinner money' there again for awhile...he was also , in appearance, a slob.
First time for lunch and experienced excellent service and very good food.
We had a very pleasant lunch at Metro although the parking is problematic around the holidays. The crispy chicken sandwich is very tasty and satisfying. My friends enjoyed the fish tacos and thought they were delicious. The noise is a little much inside, but the holidays seem to come with elevated noise levels at most restaurants. All in all, a pleasant dining experience for lunch.
My husband and I dined here for sunday brunch. There is a nice variety on the menu. Food was very tasty. Service was great with a nice atmosphere. Prices were fair. Nice wine and drink selection. We will come back for sure!
I really enjoy dining at Metro. It's a classy restaurant with great food and cocktails, and friendly staff.
Metro Lafayette is a neighborhood restaurant you can count on. Excellent food and excellent service.
Great neighborhood spot. Pretty loud which makes it great for groups. We were there in the winter so we didn't sit in the patio which looks like it would be fabulous in the summer. Good menu and better than driving into Walnut Creek and fighting their overcrowded scene.
Wow, didn't know this place was here. Food was excellent, wine list just great
The front of the house was incredibly loud but the back room was just fine for our dining experience. My wife had the Spaghetti Bolognese, she enjoyed it and noted is was very flavorful. I ordered the Duck Confit with the white beans and frisee salad. In all, we enjoyed the meal and it is not over priced.
We are an older four-some who enjoy dining out. The din of noise was so intense we could not hear each other. The restaurant really ought to reduce reverberation in their dining room.
Stopped in for an early dinner after the long holiday weekend in Tahoe. Restaurant was pretty empty as we were early. Sat by the fireplace and had a nice glass of wine, a great pasta dish and a perfectly cooked salmon entrée. Mashed potatoes/carrots were very cafeteria-esque but all else was quite lovely. Service was comfortable. Outdoor seating looked magical but we opted for that comfy spot by the fire instead.
I came here on Thanksgiving to get my turkey fix while my partner was able to enjoy a nice vegetarian entree. Both of my companions enjoyed their meals and wine (vegetarian entrees were terrific). While my turkey was cooked to perfection, I was disappointed by the bland taste of the gravy, which seemed a little close to what you get in a jar for my taste.
I've been here multiple times. It was a great decision to come here on Thanksgiving night. They had a special with diesel turkey, homemade stuffing, cranberries and mashed potatoes. A perfect evening set next to their gas burning fireplace.
The wife and I wanted to go out for Thanksgiving and I had seen that Metro at some point had received a Michelin award. I don't know what that award was for, but it certainly wasn't for the Thanksgiving dinner. Looking at the other menu choices, this place is more targeted toward the trendy crowd than the traditional old school crowd. The first thing I looked at were the little plates on the table--fingerprints.
In any case, we both ordered the Turkey dinner, which came with mashed potatoes, stuffing, and cranberry sauce. I also ordered a side salad as one did not come with the meal (basically this was a two-course meal). The salad was limp, it had probably been prepared earlier in the evening. The butter that came with the bread was cold and unspreadable. I wanted a draft beer with the meal, but they had run out of that beer. There was no included dessert. We could have ordered two other courses separately, but I expect this to be chosen and included. In short, if I'm going out to Thanksgiving I wan't everything all in one package and well prepared: a soup or salad, appetizer, main course, and dessert. Next time we will make sure this is the menu.
We came on Thanksgiving. We appreciated that they served turkey dinner with all the trimmings and also offered their regular menu a al cart. It would have been nice if they would have had more than one vegetarian entree, however everything was very good. It was a comfortable place for us to celebrate the holiday.
Always great. Food and service. The Brussels sprouts appetizer is the best. Love the small plates selection great for sharing. Brunch is also consistently good. Never disappointed at Metro.
Had lunch on the patio. Great setting. Food was good. We had sandwiches and salads. Other menu items looked very good. Looking forward to our next visit
I had the Thai chicken salad and enjoyed it tremendously---once I picked out the onions. Others in my party had the chopped salad, and enjoyed it, too. Generous portions. Excellent service. Very friendly, accommodating server.
Beautiful day to be on the patio. Waitress was a bit spacey otherwise it was a very lovely lunch. We all had the steak salad which is delicious. Great ice tea!
Staff & service were excellent. The Fish & chips could be improved. Chips too thin.
Good choice of selections. If one walks/ comes along Mt Diablo it's impossible to know where the front door is. Better signage would be helpful when they say their address on the website.
Yes, I'd go back.
The food was good, the service was excellent the noise level was excessive and the price was far too high! I doubt I will go there again.
Best Hamburger in the bay area. Everyone loved their food. Two had fish and chips and thought it was great. Pomegranate iced tea worth ordering.
Chopped salad is also very good.
Love Metro always a favorite.
We enjoyed the food and service. Four people, 3 duck confits (wow!) and a salmon (very good). Nice fennel soup and outstanding butter nut squash with pomegranate seeds small plate. We had a reservation, and they gave us a choice of tables which was nice, too.
Great food with lots of variety current with the season.
Nice patio dining. Very impressive menu, especially with the small dishes. I had a cup of the fennel soup and the duck egg rolls - both just the right size for a not too big lunch. But almost everything on the menu sounded delicious. Desserts all $9 and hard to choose as they sounded good; ended up with the ice cream-filled profiteroles which come with either a chocolate sauce or caramel sauce (go for the chocolate if you order them!) - excellent!
Enjoyed an evening out with my family. Good food and a great time! Loved the pasta and the Brussels sprouts!
We ate on the patio. It was lovely
Very good but they need to bring back the mashed potatoes with the sole
time for more comfort food with the weather & the sole just wasn't as
good with just the veggies.
Food took too long. Was charged $25 for a carafe of orange juice (was not fresh squeezed. Manager claimed it was Odwalla.) Managers on the floor had zero empowerment. Only went here because Sideboard was packed. Manager could have made the situation right. Instead, lost 4 customers forever. And, the word of mouth to mention.
We enjoyed the food at Metro, but the evening was basically ruined because of the noise level. We had a reservation for six and three had hearing issues and were older. I informed the hostess of this, and a second host, but we were led to a table in the middle of the restaurant anyway. I told both of them it would be too noisy and requested one of the side tables or the numerous available outside tables, but they assured me it would be quiet enough. It was ridiculously loud--we could not hear each other across the round table and were never offered any other seating. We had really been looking forward to the meal and visiting, and everyone left frustrated. Bad service for no reason in an expensive restaurant.
We had a great dinner at Metro with great service. Our waiter, Ryan, couldn't have been a better sport as we teased him a great deal... Our every need was anticipated.... we came away happy and satisfied in every way!!!!
We go to Metro often, and generally have had good service and food. On this occasion, the service was very slow throughout the meal, and somewhat disappointing. The meal was good, not great, but good. My cocktail, a manahattan, arrived "up" rather than my requested on the rocks. A heat lamp was requested and eventually arrived long after requested, but it ran out of propane shortly after arrival. So, overall, a bit of a mediocre experience, not what we are used to at Metro.
Metro has been consistently good to excellent food and service and is a great Lafayette spot for brunch with friends.
We sat outside. Really enjoyed our appetizers and dinner, however thought the desserts we had were subpar in comparison. We had the chocolate chip cookies and ice cream sundae. Enjoyed the ambiance outside. Service was good.
We reserved the patio on a warm evening. Much quieter than inside, so we had a relaxing time chatting and catching up. Food was good, although not over the top. We each had different seafood dishes. Service was very good, especially when we realized we were running late for an event and needed the check pronto.
Food was good, not outstanding. But the service was perfect; our waitress could not have been nicer or more accomodating. I'd recommend this place just for the outdoor ambience alone!
The food was good and the waiter very friendly and attentive. We were there on a warm evening, so were able to sit outside. That's really quite a pleasant area, despite a certain amount of traffic noise.
We ate outside on a very warm late evening and enjoyed everything about our dine. We share everything and had brussels sprouts, Korean short ribs with kimchi and the duck leg confit. It was just the right amount of food. All the dishes were well prepared and very tasty. Our server was Declan and he was attentive, professional and took good care of us. It made for a perfect evening. We now have a new favorite place in Lafayette and we will be back.
