It was a good place to hold our meeting, and we were given, per our request a private table away from the bar or high traffic. WE were able to accomplish a great productive meet.
We arrived in time for happy hour. Osters were not only tasty but a great bargain. We tried the jack fruit tacos and loved them. Waitress was very attentive and friendly!
The family style bbq was delicious...their freshly baked biscuits to die for...brussel sprouts amazing! Love this place., can't wait to bring my kids.
Great atmosphere and food. Nothing too fancy, but delicious. Love the outdoor seating and fireplaces.
Sat at the bar, good oysters, great drinks and good entrees (chicken sando: why is the chicken SO BIG?) Pretty loud, but not unbearable. Nice staff.
Great seated on time quick service
The service was great, both the host and our waiter were really great and friendly. We sat outside in the patio, which was warm and cozy with heaters and a fire on a chilly February night. It was a family-friendly place and they had crayons and a kids menu that our toddler loved!
Great ambience and service was great. Our food was hot and served promptly. Our server was awesome and made our night go smoothly. I loved the short rib and banana pudding!
The short ribs was small and very fatty, for $27. When I complained, there was no offer to replace it, or take it off the bill, as most other restaurants would. Very disappointed.
Lovely breakfast meeting. Nice ambiance and good food.
Generally good meal. The special jerk seasoned mahi mahi was well prepared, but seriously lacking in the heat one would expect with jerk seasoning. Cocktails were the highlight and the desserts were good but a tad underwhelming. Solid overall but not memorable.
Always a favorite - especially with our dogs! Few restaurants are as dog friendly... plus the great food, friendly staff and fabulous atmosphere make it a 'go to' LA spot for brunch and dinner.
Great service - love this restaurant. Server didn’t mind we took our time to order food in stages, everyone was friendly, attentive, and food came out piping hot. Biscuits, short rib, and kale salad were knock out dishes. Was catching up with friends and we were not rushed, even when the restaurant was closing.
Enjoyed the food very much but courses came out way too fast one after the other. Just started to bite on the appetizer and the main dish came already.
Overpriced, food just ok (undercooked). Nice decor, very good service.
Always a favorite, but my first time for brunch - which was delicious!
I made a reservation for 4 less people than the number of guests that actually came, and the staff at messhall was SO generous about giving us appropriate seating. The food was delicious and it was such a fun ambiance! Definitely coming back!
Great food, fun vibe, our toddler son loved it and so did we. Great cocktails.
Messhall is THE place I go to when I need comfort food. Consistently great quality food and cocktails. Always something new each time we go, and terrific staff.
Absolutely terrible night at this restaurant. We turned up on time on New Years Eve. We were greeted by the most miserable of welcomes. Our booking was at 9pm. Not early, not late. By 925 we were finally at a table. In the interim We had a drink at the bar with a nice Barman who once our drinks were mixed said that there was very long wait for food. We went to the table at 927 and were then told by our waitress that half the menu was not available. At this point we walked out. We were then charged $6 for parking for 30 minutes. A terrible experience not to be recommended. If you open on New Year’s Eve please plan properly.
One of my local favorites. The fried chicken sando is a classic. A lively vibe and good food always make for a great time.
I took my daughter here and we had a great time!
Noise level was a little high particularly given that the restaurant was not crowded. The problem was the “background “ musi which was too intrusive. Otherwise we had a very enjoy lunch.
Consistently solid, if not a little bit overpriced. The space is nice, people friendly, and overall it's a good spot.
Fantastic from start to finish. Cocktails always amazing. Food was cooked perfectly. Wait staff are amazing!
We love coming here. The service is great, I can bring my dog, and the cocktails and food are always excellent.
Quiet at lunchtime. Delicious grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup...hit the spot on a cool day. Will come again to try other items. (Don't miss the driveway like I did thinking it was the bank.)
Went for brunch and all parties were unimpressed with their food. Waitress disappeared at end of meal and didn’t come back around for half an hour after we were finished. My omelet had a very very small amount of short rib in it. The biscuit was tiny and “jam” was basically watered down strawberry compote that you would serve on a waffle. Eggs ordered over medium were beyond hard and the sausage links were crunchy. I’ll just stop here.
Great food and service. The only issue is the loud noise level. Can they put something on the ceiling to deaden the noise?
We've been going to Messhall for years and love it. It's one of our favorite restaurants in LA. They recently changed their chicken sandwich which I'm not super excited about because it was a pretty far departure (in a bad way) from what they've been serving for the past few years but other than that the food is generally always good.
Always great service and always great food and drink! Staff is outstanding!
Really good value at Happy Hour. A bit too packed, loud and chaotic for me. Good meet up venue before the Greek.
What a wonderful place to dine. It's so crazy to see what this space has become since I used to do there back in the days when it was still The Derby - sh*t d I feel old.
We dined here right before a concert at The Greek and so glad we did. The food is delicious and the drink selection is very nice. The ambiance too was wonderful, a place that can be equally enjoyed by young and old. I was actually quite surprised at the food cost and expected to pay more, so in that sense, for the great food, ambiance and wonderful service, this is surely a Los Angeles gem.
Great little tip - valet your car, leave a nice tip, have dinner, Uber to The Greek, take a cab back to the restaurant. So convenient!
One of my new favs in L.A.
Awesome dining experience as always
Everything was delicious and the service was great
This place is fantastic. The food was great and service was friendly, engaging and on point. I look forward to another visit.
All the food here is soooooo tasty! And the atmosphere is both comfortable and casual -- yet elegant at the same time.
Nice and close to The Greek Theater- we walked to the show after dinner
Food was good but overpriced. Service was good too. Bad happy hour. I’ve never heard of one that ends at 6 pm. They need to extend it to at least 7 pm. Also, they had a sign outside stating to try their new menu. It was not knew. I ate there a couple years back and it was same menu, except maybe their smaller menu, which looked more like a weekly special thing. Overall, not sure if I’ll come back.
