Mesquite Grill Ratings and Reviews
It was my first time eating here and it was great. If you like smoked flavoring and I do, this is the spot for you. I have the rib eye and added the shrimp on the grill and the shrimp might have been the best I have ever had!! the service was also great. Family owned and I love to support the local venues. I'll be back soon.
My husband and I were very much impressed by the overall attributes of this restaurant - a warm, comfortable atmosphere, excellent service, superb food. It was worth the drive and we are highly recommending it to friends on "our side of town."
This is a way over-priced restaurant considering the quantity and quality of the food. I believe they must think being in near-proximity to DTC means you get to charge an arm-and-a-leg for your food....that is only if your product is equal to the value offered which this was not. The steak was unevenly cooked and the quality of my meat was subpar for the $33 asking price. The service was very good and attentive to our needs and the atmosphere was pleasant, but that's where the good ended. If food quality is not a big deal to you, and money is no object, then this is your place.
We really enjoy the Mesquite Grill. The seafood is very good - as good as anything I have had at the "higher end" restaurants. We've tried the lobster, the king crab legs, the clam chowder, the fried pickles, the shrimp. All of it was wonderfully prepared, perfectly done, and very good. I think the Mesquite might get its ratings knocked down a bit as it's located in a strip mall off Arapahoe and doesn't have that super expensive interior/pricey feel to it. It also offers a fairly straightforward food preparation - mesquite grilled, usually offered with a daily sauce and a daily vegetable/rice dish. But the menu has a large variety of fish options - something that is rare in Denver. For the prices, the seafood is phenomenal. Being a lobster and crab girl, I've spent up to $100 at Del Frisco's and Shanahan's for lobster and crab legs but it wasn't nearly as good. This restaurant is family friendly, and appears to be a family-owned and run business. Full bar, great martinis, and really cool painted glasses for drinks. I recommend the Mesquite to everyone I know as a little gem of a restaurant.
This was our first experience at Mesquite Grill. We lucked out and they were not busy that night. The food was excellent. It is very apparent that each dish is carefully thought out with great spices and cooked perfectly. We had the grilled calamari as an appetizer and it was fantastic with just the right amount of mesquite flavor and very tender. The service is very welcoming and helpful. The hand-painted wine glasses and centerpieces are beautiful and make it special. We will definitely be back!
Robert, Wendy and his daughters make this neighborhood hide-away well worth a visit. Their menu is outstanding, the service is very friendly and we've never had a disappointing meal. Seafood is a specialty, but the steaks and Mediterranean items are excellent, as well. A great small, intimate restaurant.
Once you enter, you can tell this is a family owned restaurant by people who are proud of their fare. We had never been, and late one Saturday decided to see what was available. Our only regrets are that we didn't try the special sauce on our entrees. Would highly recommend for a quiet and enjoyable meal, specializing in fish. One of the few in Denver Metro that does it well. We'll be back.
My husband and I chose this for Valentine's day eve dinner because of good reviews we found. When we saw the outside, we had our doubts. Inside, however, was a respectable restaurant, although not a very fancy one. We sat in a typical booth with leather seats. We noticed that someone who appeared to be the owners were spending some time chatting with customers, and the waitstaff was very pleasant. It did take a while for our server to come and offer drinks, and our food also took a while to come. We ordered a shrimp cocktail that was not great. The sauce was too thin with not enough heat. But our entrees were fabulous. The owner gushed over how much I would like the beef kebab, and he was certainly right! So tender and with a wonderful flavor! My husband chose the polynesian chicken, and that, too, was scrumptious. We did think it was a tad overpriced, not because the food wasn't praiseworthy, just that the prices seemed more fitting for a restaurant with a much nicer atmosphere. On the other hand, you can have a much nicer atmosphere and not food this good, so maybe it is worth it. I wouldn't call this a romantic place at all, but it suited us just fine for the occasion. My husband was impressed enough to want to come back during the week for lunch on his work days.
Mesquite Grill has been a favorite of ours for many years. They serve excellent seafood at a very good price. Service is terrific and friendly. They never disappoint. It is a quiet atmosphere with and friendly environment making for very relaxing dinnig. Happy to see them on Open Table.
A friend and I were looking for a place for a casual seafood dinner. Irefer local over the chains anyway, but This was a waste of time and money. Appetizer of crab cakes was probably the best part of the meal. I ordered scallop dinner and there were 5 scallops the size of nickels for $20 with an up charge for a lemon garlic "sauce". No flavor to scallops, vegetable medley was frozen veggies and the coleslaw was brought out after we ordered. Won't be going back there again!
From the outside, I was a little skeptical. Once inside, we were greeted by super-friendly staff and seated immediately. The grilled calamari was absolutely delicious! The fillet mignon was the best I have EVER tasted! It was cooked medium, at the recommendation of our server, and I would agree that any more cooking would have ruined it. It was the most tender, flavorful steak I have had, and I would put Mesquite's up against Chop House, Ted's or any other steakhouse out there! I could have cut it with a spoon! Lobster tail was wonderful, too! We will definitely be going back to try the rest of the menu items, and the prices were fair. I would definitely say "don't judge the book by it's cover." Give this place a try.
We went to this restaurant for Valentine's Day. It is not the most romantic spot in Denver. However, we were able to enjoy a very good meal. Although the ambience is not the best, the food was very good and the service was outstanding and very friendly. I would recommend this as a good spot to go for good seafood.
The motif was welcoming. the glass artwork was worth going to see. Gorgeous. The hostess and wait staff were great -- efficient and so friendly.
I wondered about the reason to serve both rice and potatoes -- two starches. I was disappointed in my lobster -- both the taste and the difficulty in eating . Even after I was told that thec shef had loosened it from the shell -- it was not and every bite was a struggle.
First of all, reservations were not ay all needed, we were one of maybe 5 tables of people in the restaurant. The outside appearance/location was not appealing, looked like we were about to walk in to some strip mall bar. Music selection was very nice. The staff/owner were fabulous and took great care of us! Food was just ok, I expected more from what I read online, dessert was the best! It was an interesting experience, not what I was expecting for our anniversary though.
Wine list was pretty indifferent; overall, very limited bar. Appetizer -- crab cakes -- were soft and a bit salty; would not order again. Entrees -- a grill combination, and a shrimp offering -- were quite good. Service was prompt and attentive without being intrusive -- always a plus. Ambience was nice in the sense that it was quiet (unobtrusive and relaxing background music) though overall seating and room arrangements were average. Interesting glass gallery. Except for the appetizer, it was a good value: entrees were good and the ambience allowed for comfortable, relaxed conversation.
This is a neighborhood restaurant in an unassuming strip mall surrounded by glitzy chain restaurants ... but the food is superb. Fresh fish cooked to order over a real mesquite grill (you could smell it from the parking lot) was a real treat. The owner personally cooked the food and delivered it to our table, and was justifiably proud of his work. Further, the wait staff of one was attentive and helpful. If you're stuck in the Denver Tech Center's myriad of cookie cutter restaurants, give this one a try.
This restaurant was an unexpected pleasure. The quality and service were really amazing considering the full house on Valentines Day. We had the King Salmon and Fillet Mignon with Lobster Tail. Both cooked over the mesquite fire and was spot on perfect! The home made Key Lime was superb... one of the best I've ever had. Definitely plan on visiting here again.
Service was super slow
Crab cakes served to us noticeably burned
The best part of my meal was the rice
My husband enjoyed his steak and said it was cooked perfectly
We don't mind paying more for good food and service but this was priced too high for what we received
We had a table for two on Valentine's Day. The place was packed, and the service couldn't keep up. We were seated promptly, but waited a long time for everything else. We heard complaints from adjoining tables too. It probably wouldn't be a problem on a regular night.
The food was very good, if a little pricey. The atmosphere was a little strange. Generally when I spend more than $100 for two people I'm not sitting at a cheap table in a strip mall. That probably wouldn't have bothered me if the service had been better.
My husband and I tried Mesquite Grill from the recommendations on Open Table for Valentine's Dinner. It far exceeded our expectations. It is a small dining room with a "family" atmosphere but with nice linens on the tables and wonderful service. My husband ordered grouper and I ordered sea bass. We each had the lemon basil sauce on top. It was quite wonderful. The full bar was a nice surprise and we could order wine from a modest list or mixed drinks. Our wine and Long Island Iced Tea were great. The fish was served with rice and roasted potatoes. Both were good but I really missed something green on the plate. It was just the right spot for a quiet, not crazy dining experience on Valentine's Day. I would recommend it any day of the week.
The kind of small, family owned restaurant where you meet the owners, receive personal attention and are able to relax and enjoy a drink, some win, and a very good meal. Not in our usual part of town but worth the drive - if we lived in the neighborhood we'd be regulars.
