Mesquite Grill at Tonto Verde Ratings and Reviews
The Mesquite Grill is a great find! It has two areas, one more casual with televisions and one without televisions. The outdoor dining is unequaled anywhere in the valley. It provides wonderful views of the Mazatzal mountains and lakes that surround the community in which it is located. The food is wonderful. I've never had a bad meal there. The menu provides a nice array of starters, salads, sandwiches, pizza and bigger entrees with specials almost every night of the week. I definitely recommend it!
Dinner was great but the next day i received an e-mail that i was a no show.I talked
to the front desk and was shone that that they show i was there, she said she would
call you.I received E-Mail from you the next day.You said you would change the
no show to setting but no sorry our mistake or anything. Not good.
Always a lovely setting and friendly attentive staff. The beef stroganoff was mediocre at best. Very bland, slightly over cooked noodles, and for some reason the beef was served as two small steaks rather than cubed or sliced with the stroganoff. The meat was pretty tough and chewy. On the upside, the wine and brandy Alexander’s are great!
I’ve had many tasty meals here, but this was not one of the .
Wonderful food, service, and view. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. My daughter and I both had your Petite Filet and my son-in-law had the Rib Eye. Loved the Scalloped Potatoes. The Filet melts in your mouth....
The restaurant is a nice setting on the golf course, decor is pretty and a good election on the menu. Food is good - but I have a major compliant about my dinner. I ordered jumbo shrimp scampi. The jumbo shrimp were not deveined - and this is a major issue with jumbo shrimp - which have a jumbo vein!! It grossed me out initially. But I managed to cut through the pancetta and the ship to devein it so I could eat it! This should have been done in the kitchen!! Because of this, I doubt that I will go back there anytime soon.
Excellent restaurant. Chris, the chef, is a master -- a real community asset to Tonto Verde. Do not lose him. We earlier had a large lunch, so for dinner requested the salmon to be split for two. No problem, and it was phenomenal -- beautifully cooked, surrounded by micro greens and candied blueberries. Nice service too. Our server let us sample a couple wines, even replaced my first choice (my mistake) with another wine by the glass. All these things, large and small, make it easy for us to return to the Mesquite Grill. Please keep doing things the way the customer would like them -- always the best policy for success.
We sat on the veranda with a magnificent view and enjoyed a wonderful meal, followed by an extraordinary desert. The service was great - attentive but not intrusive. This is a four star operation. The staff is perfect, efficient, friendly, humorous and intelligence. I'm ready to go back right now.
A gentleman in our party has a severe food allergy. We told the waiter what we needed/wanted and the kitchen presented him with a fabulous meal. The man was highly impressed that the chef would go so far out of his way to make him happy. Unbelievable! We will return again and again. Thank you Mesquite Grill at Tonto Verde.
We love the Mesquite Grill at Tonto Verde! It is our favorite place in the Valley. The food is excellent - the menu changes monthly, there are daily specials, and the kitchen is good at accommodating special requests. The service is outstanding - well trained and friendly. The wine list is one of our favorite things about this restaurant - quality wines that are well priced. And of course, the view from the patio can't be beat.
Love the ambiance of Tonto but was a little disappointed the lobster and butter (even in warmers) were cold. Cauliflower medley was bland. Steak and potato were great. Fish choices seem to be a problem for this kitchen as I and others I've talked to have yet to find one to be overly delectable.
The food was exceptional. The service was excellent. The ambiance was great. Jared, our server did an excellent job serving us. He was efficient and observant. Their menu choices are perfect. The Caesar salad is terrific. It comes very close to an authentic Caesar. The mango soup was delightful and fresh tasting. The meats were delicious and tender. The desserts were good as we. We will come back to dine here again.
We decided to try their summer special for Saturday night Buy one Prime Rib get one free.
The bar was busy and the cocktails were a good size and well done. I had a Lemon drop and my husband had a Martini. Comfortable bar stools. Our family joined us with our grand daughter. Plenty of room on the patio for the kids to run around without disturbing the diners.
We had a nice table with view of the lake. A great wine list with even some French wines.
Dinner was served at a good pace. My daughter and I had the 9oz Prime rib which was perfect. The guys had the 12 oz portion. They served it with real horseradish. The baked potatoes were
served with butter, sour cream and green onions. We also tried the dessert: cookie dough skillet with ice cream to share and the guys had a Port. Nice atmosphere, very South West. Good to take guests from out of town to experience the Old Scottsdale. Gorgeous view at Sunset.
This was our second visit to the grill, and the food was as good this time as last time. The service was excellent, and we all enjoyed our meals. Unfortunately we were seated at a booth between two noisy dinner groups. This made for difficult conversation at our booth. Next time I will request seating away from large parties.
