Is consistently good. We have dined here for over 30 years.
Been here several times. Food is very good. Service attentive. The only downside is that it is so loud it’s tough to hear yourself think.
The seating arrangement was terrible, where our table was beside a busy thoroughfare of waiters and the only access to two tables beside the wall was by going behind my chair and waiters kept bumping into my chair. The food was decent but not inspired. It was a quick and relatively inexpensive meal so adequate for pre theater.
Great prix fix lunch! Dinners are also good. Reasonable prices for NYC. Been there many times. Good Spanish food!
My second time visiting Meson Sevilla and I am so glad I returned. Friendly bi-lingual staff and amazing food. Ordered 6 tapas between two people and everyone was wonderful. Dessert and cafe were delicious as well. Totally recommend for a taste of Spain
We had several vegetarians in group and the food we got was prefect for them.
Went here for dinner after seeing a matinee show. Food was delicious, traditional Spanish tapas and paella. Restaurant is cozy and reminded us of restaurants we ate in while in Spain. Servers were wonderful, friendly and welcoming. We definitely plan on coming back again.
Food was great, service was very poor
We arrived prior to our reservations and were able to be seated and enjoy a drink prior to ordering. Staff was courteous and food was worth the price of the pre fixed menu.
It was a fine meal. I could not say wonderful just a fine meal
Meson Sevilla is consistent in its menu choices and
It’s reasonable prices for the theatre district.
It’s location is great for pre or post theatre lunch or dinner.
You can have a complete lunch including wine or other beverage, choice of entree including veggies and Spanish rice, and dessert for a very reasonable
Another plus, the bathrooms are on the main level so no climbing up and downstairs.
The service was great; several people waited on us and were super attentive. The food was authentic. Red sangria was delicious. Paella is enough for two so I wish we had shared. Portion sizes were huge. We tried the lasagna, the carbonara pasta, camarones a la plancha, and the paella. I would definitely come back!
We showed up an hour earlier than our reservation and scored a table near the entry during Restaurant Week. Our meal was wonderful but our service was slow, however we were not attending the theater and had been asked. Two couples and a larger group were seated after we were and left before we did. This would have been fine if we were with a larger group, enjoying conversation. I would go back with a larger group!
Good Spanish food. Lots of options for kids and vegetarians. Asked for chick n fingers for my friends son and even though it wasn’t on the menu they were very accommodating. Service was a little slow but we weren’t in any rush so it didn’t bother me. Not sure if you are time constrained but I usually tell wait staff if I am headed for a show.
I’d go again
This was my second visit to Meson Sevilla, and the food was great again. I love tapas, and they have so many interesting and delicious choices to share with friends with different diet specifications.
Friendly, attentive service, good food, plentiful portions
Disappointing: paella for 2 was a good deal but the mussels and calamari were not fresh, and all the seafood was overcooked. Rice was not crispy. Gazpacho was a touch too sweet. The bread was flavorless with supermarket crumb.
Meson Sevilla is a go to restaurant. Whenever I go, and those who go with me love this place. On this particular occasion I went with my husband and another couple. Three of us ordered from the prix fixe lunch menu - great value - and lots of choices. One friend ordered from the main menu. I ordered the garlic shrimp and mentioned to the waiter I love this dish cause it's so spicy. He said this "garlic shrimp" wasn't as spicy as the camarones ajillo I usually get. The previous menu, both in English and Spanish listed camarones verde (w. English translation), which is not spicy and camarones ajillo (spicy). So, of course, he presented me with the delicious spicy shrimp. I'm glad I had originally mentioned that I love it spicy. This menu we were give was just in English. There are so many choices, my husband ordered a chicken dish, one friend ordered paella and another friend ordered salad. The lunch special ($25) included choice of appetizer, entrée, and dessert, plus glass of wine or sangria. Very nice, very enjoyable lunch!
Dined at Meson Sevilla for post theater dinner. Service & food were good. They had a Paella special, $49 for 2, which included soup or salad. It was good for the most part, could have had a little more flavor, calamari was cooked perfectly, mussels were good but tiny, although the shells were big, shrimp was slightly overcooked. My daughter had the lamb chops & chicken croquettas, which she said both were good. Service was good but we did wait a bit for our check. Overall I would recommend this restaurant but don't expect to be wowed.
Everything we ordered from the gazpacho to the shrimp ala plancha was great. Service was cheerful & excellent! We had white sangria which was very good with apples as the only fruit
Inside. We shared a flan, which was not too sweet-just the way we like it. We will definitely go back here when we go to The theater
Delicious food at good prices.
My family and I bumped into this restaurant in 2010 when we were visiting NYC for spring break. For the longest time, we kept a matchbox as a souvenir from the restaurant with us in Cincinnati and we told all of our friends about the wonderful experience we had and the sardines! Fast forward to 2018, today we live in NYC and kept making a point to return to the restaurant. When a friend from Cincinnati came to visit, it made sense that we'd take her to a restaurant where she could have a good meal and a good experience. It. Was. Horrible.
We were sat down promptly. Fifteen minutes went by before anyone approached us to see if we wanted to order dinner. Wait. What happened to "would you like anything to drink"? Three servers approached us with the same question. Not one knew the other had been there. The sangria pitcher took another 10 minutes to arrive. (Psst. It wasn't fresh. What took so long?)
From then on, it took four servers to continuously come by and ask the same questions they were all asking but NOT answering... service was slow and haphazard, and we heard FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES, "we are just so busy". One particular waiter gave me such attitude and disdain when I asked if toast or bread came with a specific tapa. In a huff, he went to the kitchen to ask if it would/could and guess what I got in response? If you said, "we are just so busy", you got it right. Hmmm... for a restaurant that has been open since 1987, you'd think they would have figured out service by now. It was a pre-theatre meal in Hell's Kitchen. Did they think they wouldn't be busy before curtain on a Saturday night?! That is the lamest excuse any restaurant could give anywhere in the world.
The food was good. The service was horrible. The excuses were great! (Please note sarcasm in there.) Would only recommend this restaurant for poor service. There are a million other places in NYC where you can get a great meal sans the attitude, the wait, the chaos, and/or the horrible follow up.
Went for a girls dinner. Ordered the croquettes with squid on the specials and the seafood paella! All was washed down with a pitcher of chamlagne sangria! Delicious food and services was tentative. Definitely would go back and recommend for tapas lovers! Bring a sweater-a bit chilly!
A great place for tapas on Restaurant Row. The food was delicious, and everybody in my party could choose something from the menu (gluten-free included). The bartender made special drinks for two people in my party, and the raspberry lemoncello sangria was quite yummy. We especially liked the marinated cubes of pork, the meatballs, and the grilled portabello mushrooms. The tables were very close to each other, but that is to be expected at a NYC restaurant. I would definitely go to this restaurant again, because it is hard to find good tapas in NYC, especially in the theater district.
Exceedingly helpful and friendly service.
Tapas was excellent
Considerate of theater schedule
Meson Sevilla is a solid option for grabbing a meal before or after a play. As one might hope in this style of eatery, you have the option to order individual meals or you can do more of a tapas style and order small plates & appetizers. If you are a paella fan, I suggest you give it a try here. They have a good selection of options and it did feel pretty authentic. I personally love how the immediate layer of rice inside the pan crisps up. It was very nicely seasoned but not overdone. The service was good. A word of advice, if your looking to go here with a large party (i.e. more than 4 people) i’d suggest making reservations in advance. Oh, the wine bottle prices are pretty good for NYC.
Great as always, but getting more expensive...salad used to be included with meal and now is ala carte. It was also VERY crowded and a bit noisy, but always a good meal when we come into NY.
Great! Food was fantastic, very traditional ambiance.
Food was good and the portions generous. Service was excellent. Good dinner place before the theater.
Excellent service, great food. Reasonable pricing.
Super friendly wait staff, pleasant atmosphere, fast service, excellent tapas.
The food, service, sangria... everything is always fabulous!
I love their prixe fixe lunch. there are tons of choices and at great value. The food is always so gooood! I go very often when I am in the city.
Great as always!
Outstanding. Would highly recommend to anyone in New York looking for something different.
Value was very good the food was delicious and the service attentive. It is a bit noisy which made it difficult to have a conversation at our table. Aside from that I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The waiters were great. Very focused on the customers needs. Excellent place, the food was phenomenal!!!
Have gone several times to Meson Sevilla. Always enjoy the food and always greeted with smiles from the establishment. Try it, they have a very diversified menu and food is great.
Selected this restaurant as we enjoy Spanish food and it was close to our Theatre. Ate early as show was at 7:00 so few people in the restaurant. Additionally a food fest was outside so many folks were already sampling the Paella by the volume of trays going out the door! A overall enjoyable experience!
