Meson Sevilla Ratings and Reviews
My group of 6 have been to this restaurant many times, and it never fails to disappoint. We all had the same dish, shrimp plancha which was as tasty as always. We always look forward to having sangria, and the dessert. We were lucky this time because due to the weather we had the restaurant all to ourselves!
Meson Sevilla is one of my, and my friends' favorote places. Their luncheon specials are extradordinary. Appetizer, numerpus entree choices, desserts and coffee, plus free wine or delicious samgria w lunch. My friends have selective tastes, from meat eaters, vegetarian, fish, etc. and all are sayisfied. That's why we keep coming back.
The food here is always very good and the atmosphere is pleasant. The service is usually good as well. We have tried the paella, cigalas (prawns), chicken croquettes, grilled shrimp, and pasta carbonara (among other things) and they were all quite tasty. Alas, they have stopped their practice of bringing excellent bruschetta to the table at the start of the meal. (I am not a big fan of tomatoes but their bruschetta was changing my mind.) Also, they removed my wife's favorite dish from the menu: stuffed lobster. It was really outstanding--better than some we have had in New England. My wife wasn't best pleased to find she had been charged $3.00 for a refill on a small glass of iced tea. Still, the experience was overall very pleasant and the food is good. We come here every trip to New York. The location is excellent as well--close to the theaters and Times Square.
Disappointed. We searched for a tapas-style restaurant near our hotel, and Meson Sevilla was at the top of our list. After being seated, we received very poor service.
We ordered drinks and two small tapas, planning on ordering more as the night continued. Then the server disappeared from our table for ages. We finally got our plates -- and, granted, the food was fantastic. We ate for a while, then the server disappeared again. Eventually, someone just took our menus off our table without asking us! We had been planning on ordering more -- but over an hour into the meal, the server returned, and we decided we didn't want to spend another hour here for just a second small round of tapas. So we left with a $65+ bill for 1 round of drinks and a couple small plates -- and we had to go somewhere else afterwards for a real dinner!
Invited a dear friend to meet me at Meson Sevilla for dinner, and she loved it! She'd never been there before & we both ordered the Prix Fixe dinner. She truly enjoyed everything that we ordered & especially the price. I'm looking forward to the next time I'm able to visit Meson Sevilla!
I was happy with the food overall. One complaint was the paella dish for $25 was the smallest I'd ever seen at a Spanish restaurant. Used to a big dish that 4 people can share in addition to our meals. Skirt steak was some of the most tender I've tasted. Baccalao was very fresh. Desserts we're standard Bindi fare. Red sangria was kind of watery. Main complaint was old musty carpeting - I hate that in a restaurant. Menus covered in plastic had a distinct musty smell as well. Not appealing. Thank goodness the food was good. Place is in desperate need of updating, but ok for a quick meal.
Meson Sevilla is always a good choice for pre-theatre dinner. The prix fixed menu has ample choices and the food is always of good taste and quality. The staff understands that diners have a performance afterwards and make sure food is served in a timely fashion.
Open Table Reservation noted egg/mayonnaise allergy and anniversary, but that did not seem to be acknowledged at all by the venue. We called attention to the reservation but it seemed to be inconsequential. Crab item - when we asked was - acknowledged to have mayonnaise so was not something my husband could eat. ( He later got a burger at McDonald's). While the sangria and some food was enjoyable, it was overall a disappointing experience and we would not return. No ambiance. Lackluster attention.
My husband and I had the paella; we asked if it was enough to split between two people and were told it was enough for one so we ordered two entrees. One would have been more than sufficient for two people. Some of the seafood in the paella was perfectly cooked while some of it was over cooked. Also, the paella was overly oily/buttery and the soda I ordered was syrupy and flat.
the restaurant is near the theater but one does not have the sense of noise and confusion. the key success of this restaurant is the Tapas menu. There are many hot and cold choices and the tastiness and freshness is welcome. Go for the Tapas and make them your meal.
This was our first time eating here after seeing a show. We were originally gonna eat somewhere else, but liked the menu and made a quick reservation on Opentable. They sat us right away. We had about 3 different waiters serve us throughout the night which was nice. I got the shrimp, mussels, calamari and clams in a light tomato sauce with angel hair pasta. It was delicious and light. We also got the pork chop and the lamb chops. My grandma ate all 7 of her chops! That's how good they were. For dessert we had the tiramisu, tartufo and I had the creme brulee. It had an orange background flavor that was really good! Overall a great and relaxing experience. We'll be back!
Attentive service. Went for pre-theater dinner. Tapas quite interesting and varied. Reminded me of our trip to Madrid but ate a lot earlier. A unique and welcome change from the Italian Restaurants on Restaurant Row. Will definitely go back again. Small, cozy restaurant with management who care for their patrons. Food was excellent. Crab stuffed mushrooms, tongue with garlic, calamari well prepared and not chewy. They do a good job and you're not stuffed. Price is remarkable considering where they are located.
The food was just OK for a Spanish restaurant. The portions were small. The paella marinara could have had more seafood in it. The gazpacho soup is delicious and authentic. Forget wine bottles, prices are high. The sangria (white) is made well with the fruit infused in liquor. Our waiter Carlos was exellent.
Meson Savilla never disappoints.... great food, great service.... been going here for years.
Great place for pre-theater lunch or dinner. We had the skirt steak special and the pork chop special. Very tasty. Rice was a bit dry but still a very good meal. Sangria was delicious. We will return every time we go back to see a Broadway show.
