Mesob Ethiopian Restaurant
Went on Friday for my partners bday, it was perfect as always. We usually get all vegetarian but tried a chicken & a beef dish & both were outstanding. Service is always kind, quick & helpful. I recommend Mesob to everyone.
My husband and I went to this place on Saturday. The prices and the amount of food that were served was very off putting. I sat down and 8:30pm and no one came to our table for 20 minutes. I have been here before and I absolutely loved it and now I will not be returning. I was very disappointed with the service and the food.
Just ok. Been to better Éthiopien restsurant. Bit on the pricey side
the venue handled my daughter's celiac disease well and there were many gluten-free options.
Lovely quiet spot with excellent food and friendly but not at all intrusive wait staff. Highly recommend!
Great food. As always. We had the starter sampler and meat sampler. Dessert also. The espresso torte is awesome!
The service and food were excellent as usual. We were out for a friends birthday and they played music to wish him a happy birthday. The whole night was a great experience. Would highly recommend!!
Food is always good & filling at Mesob. Servers were friendly & nice. Place was noisy even though we were there at 6pm and only a few diners were present, it wasn’t the background music but I guess the place enhances sounds too much. Overall, it’s the good food & service that makes us come back.
Excellent food wonderful staff just a little loud but an amazing dinner spot
If you are in the mood for Ethiopian food, this is a good place to go and one of the few around. Food is ok, but I have had better in other Ethiopian restaurant. The level of noise is way beyond acceptable
Haven't had Ethiopian in a while, and it made me think I have to go back more often. Delicious, spicy & healthy!!
The Mesob Ethiopian restaurant was exquisite. The staff was attentive and helpful as we were not familiar with the menu. The food was great and the establishment was clean. I will definitely be returning and recommending it.
Restaurant during the day is very chill. Me and my husband recently went on a Friday night and it was full and the level of chatter was very high. Great for groups Friday evenings. The food is just delicious
Our first time eating Ethiopian food. I have become a vegetarian 7 months ago and it was brilliant .
Recently there for a fun birthday celebration. Always great food and great service!
Personally it just wasn’t my type of food. However, the experience was good
Food is always outstanding here!! Consistently through the years - never a bad meal. It just takes a long time ... but then that is what happens when everything is made fresh! Don’t be intimidated by Ethiopian food. If you were ever to try it then this is the place!
After alerting our server to a food allergy she checked to see if the dish could be prepared without the particular ingredient. Upon determining no, she made a suggestion that proved to be a well chosen alternative. For a party of 3 we ordered 3 entrees that come with 2 sides each for a substantial platter of food served on injera. Highly recommend the shrimp tibs and the entree with portabella mushrooms. Also enjoyed the yellow peas, collard greens and both sides that included potatoes. Service was attentive without being smothering. We were able to linger, talk and finish our BYOB wine even after our table was cleared. A very enjoyable evening
My husband and I go here all the time but this is the first time we brought our four-month-old. Everyone was very accommodating!
Wonderful atmosphere and everyone was very attentive! We enjoyed the food and we plan on returning soon.
The price point was perfect and a wine store is right next to the restaurant.
I love going to Mesob ! The food is exceptional and the service excellent !!!
Thank you !!!
Choose Tuesdays or Wednesdays for a quiet dining experience - Avoid Thu-Sun - unless you prefer a really loud restaurant!
Service and food quality were good
The food was very good. Although if your not into spicy food then just order mild. I found the service to be good and the staff was very friendly.
I’m a newbie to Ethiopian cuisine, but this is by far the best I’ve had in the greater NYC area. Excellent service and a chill atmosphere to boot.
Happy with everything; we had a lamb, beef, and chicken dish and liked them all (cubed lamb was our favorite, though I hit a couple small bones in one piece), as well as one of the puff-pastry appetizers. Nice atmosphere; a tad loud given that it wasn't that crowded, but with a family we wouldn't want an extremely hushed atmosphere either. Only reason for four stars is that it was a bit pricey for Ethiopian -- and was a tad pricier than the menu posted on Open Table (and the restaurant's website had no prices on the menu.) Portion sizes were just right. Easy to avoid heavy spice if desired. Would definitely recommend both for couples and for families with older (adventurous) kids. BYOB.
I can't say enough about Mesob. My current favorite restaurant in NJ.
You walk in the door and the wonderful smell of spices is in the air.
The staff is so nice and friendly.
But it's all about the food. Every time I eat at Mesob, I discover a new favorite.
Most recent visit, I particularly enjoyed the spicy beef, portabella mushrooms and ground chickpeas.
A full dinner, with leftovers was about $23 a person, including tax and tip.
The food was outstanding!
Great good. Wonderful friendly servers. Always too loud tho...
Mesob is a treasure. It's a real treat to go there. The staff is very friendly and the food is consistently good. I highly recommend it.
We have eaten here multiple times, and each time, the food has been delicious. This is definitely one of our favorite date-night spots.
Only two people serving the whole restaurant and I’m still not sure which one was our waiter. Not one time did either of them ask if we needed anything, even though they passed by the table several times. Horrible service!
Everything is excellent but it is loud.
Terrific food and great service. It’s always good. I recommend either the vegetable platter or the meat platter so you have a taste of many of the items.
A great spot in Montclair for family and friends to dine communally. Service with a smile is just an everyday thing. The are happy to help you with your order and their recommendation are spot on. We had a great table and as the Friday crowd gathered we never felt rushed. We will most certainly return again dm again.
I greatly enjoyed myself at Mesob. I ordered the Mesob sampler, which was excellent. If you want to experience authentic Ethiopian cuisine, then I highly recommend Mesob.
First time trying Ethiopian cuisine and loved it! The service was great and loved the ambiance of the restaurant. I will definitely be returning.
Fun! Great food. Left us alone which was nice.
Good food. Polite server.
I have lived in the area of Passaic/Essex Counties all of my life and have eaten Filipino, Mexican, Thai, Greek, Vietnamese and my own background includes tripe, chitterlings and fatback but for some reason I have always been intimidated by Ethiopian food. However, I decided to take a chance while on a rare date night with my Fiance. The food was AMAZING . We ordered the Meat Sampler that comes with three vegetarian sides. As he is a carnivore, eating veggies as accompaniments, I hoped it would stand up to his expectations. He raved about it the entire night lol. Service was friendly and prompt.
