Meso Maya - Preston Forest Ratings and Reviews
We go here at least every 9-10 days and have been pleased with the margaritas and entrees. Personally, we have seen the clientele change in the last few visits and are not happy with it. We know it's not the fault of the restaurant, but we prefer a more mature dining experience. We will probably be dining elsewhere in the future.
Recently had lunch here for a business meeting. I've been here a number of times and it's always a great meal. They have, in my opinion the best guacamole of any Mexican restaurant in the area, so much that I wasn't a fan of guacamole until I had it here.
Highly recommend it and will definitely be back!
The service was terrible. They were so harried to get us out of there. We wanted to split a large steak-they did not split it and then when we asked for an additional plate they were in such a hurry they slung it and it crashed on the floor and broke. We had to ask for silverware and water. This hs been one of our favorite spots but we will think twice about returning
Food was excellent. Salmon and pork chop were exceptional entrees. The shrimp tacos were good but had hardly any shrimp in them. Service was friendly but way too slow; especially getting drinks from the bar. Swirl margarita was very good but the margaritas on the rocks were too sour tasting.
First, this is NOT Tex-Mex food. It is great food from the interior of Mexico though. You won't find fajitas or Spanish rice - they serve white rice with very tasty black beans - and their sauce that they serve with chips is not very spicy nor tomato based but it is wonderful. My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter loved it as did I. We had the pozole verde (green chicken soup), camarones (shrimp tacos), carne asada (steak), del mar (lobster, shrimp, avocado, and cheese), and salmon de coco (salmon with coconut rice.) It was all wonderful. This was our first time but it came with recommendations from our family. We will be back even though it is a long way from where we live.
Second, the noise level depends on where you get seated. Initially we were seated in the front of the restaurant right next to a very large party with several out of control small children. The noise was incredible. We asked to be moved and they were very gracious and understanding and moved us into the restaurant proper where the noise level was much, much lower. It was wonderful.
Third, be sure to stop at the entrance and watch the kitchen, all of which is visible. While all of the cooks were very busy they all took time to smile and interact with my granddaughter. The wait staff were very friendly and informative about their food.
All in all (except for the initial seating) this was an exceptional evening.
Well to start we asked for a booth because my back does not tolerate chairs well and the lady sets us at a table with chairs. Could not understand the waiter very well. My food well the steal tips were very chewy, the pork was mostly fat that was fried, the potatoes in my food were crunchy and not cooked very well and the dish was suppose to have black beans in it and it had lime 3 of them in there and the cheese was barely melted. It was our first time there and it was a very disappointing experience to say the least. For what we paid for the food to the portion was a bit high. Not sure what happens but we were disappointed since we drove from Fort Worth to eat here by reading the reviews.
Once again we enjoyed a wonderful evening with delicious food and drinks, along with fabulous service. Our waiter (sorry forgot his name) was ready for us and he just confirmed that we wanted our "usual" dinners and drinks which was awesome! We love the food and the staff which is why we keep coming back. Thank you !!!!
Mesa Maya is always great food at a reasonable price. It is more upscale Mexico versus Tex-Mex food with more steak and seafood entrees. Using Open Table makes a difference because there is always a line on the weekends, but reservations are seated on time. Start with the Queso Fundido, which is a melted cheese with either vegetables or Chorizo, that are served with flour tortillas. My favorite dish is the Carne Asada, which I get medium rare. The steak quality is very good for the price realizing that it is flank steak similar to fajita meat. The wine list is not large, but the wines are well selected. The specialty drinks are very good also.
We loved Mesomaya for our Christmas Eve dinner. I have dined at Mesomaya several times at the downtown location and wasn't sure what to expect at Preston Forest-- and I have to say I really have nothing negative to say about our experience! Delicious and interesting food, pleasant service, and cheerful surroundings.
We enjoyed our experience! Great drinks, yummy appetizers, amazing entrees and delicious desserts. Topped it all of with a Mexican coffee! The waiter was very attentive to our table and very friendly. Although I enjoyed everything we ordered, the sweet corn tamal was my favorite.
Took 10 people from my office for a holiday/thank you lunch - were seated at back in noisy and cold area. When 3 of my guests were arriving late because of a mtg, we were asked to reduce our table with the inference they weren’t coming. Ordering was delayed - guests arrived and had to add back seats - just felt uncomfortable and as if we were a problem for mgmnt.
