Decent overall. A little difficult to find the first time and parking is a bit tricky. The restaurant was very laid back which was nice. Most of the appetizers were good, while the recommended drinks were somewhat hit or miss. A chill place to hang out with friends.
Great service, food and ambiance. The hostess, our server and all the other servers that brought food items were very attentive.
Great food and great atmosphere! I’ve been looking forward to trying this place and it didn’t disappoint.
Service and staff were super nice! From the front desk to the waiters and bar tenders, everyone was awesome! Enjoyed the "look" and vibe of the restaurant as well. I try not to be negative but my only complaint was the food and smell of the food. The smell of the kitchen was all around the restaurant and I personally don't care for that. You could smell the high temperature of the oil throughout :( They serve french fries so I get it but still, it was really over powering.
Always a good time! Good food, great staff, fun place.
won't be going back. very cool place, but not worth the $130 spent. service was a bit slow considering we were there at 5:45 on a saturday night. took 15 minutes for a Ketel & 7. champagne was served warm. ordered chardonnay, and that came out warm too. server was great about taking it back and not charging. ordered the pork chop at the recommendation of the server and got a fat piece of meat. 1/3 bone, 1/3 fat, 1/3 meat for $30. skip it next time. I should have got the scallops. wife got the short rib. it was excellent. calamari was good. heard great things about this place from friends and just wasn't what we expected. heard the happy hour was good, but not going back any time soon. maybe we caught you on a bad night.
Great place to meet and hang out with friends. The booths are large and make you feel like you are in a living room. Great menu and drinks. Highly recommend!
The bartender Nick made our night special. Never had more attentive service.
You’re doing everything right. The only thing I would change is to get rid of the flat screen TV’s in the 4 booths. It’s very distracting and people go out to get away from their TV and engage with each other. It’s a pretty big screen right at table level. If you were a sports bar, I’d get it, but you’re not. Put up some more art or a statue instead?
Food was very good
Service was fair, our waitress seem in a rush and in a bad mood
We had a 2 hours grace period for our dinner, and our plates took over 30 min to arrived at our table
Bathrooms lack light, I understand the place is hipster, still it would be nice if they were more bright.
I was welcomed with a complimentary glass of champagne while I waited for my friends to arrive. I thought that was such a nice touch! The staff was very friendly and really attentive to our party. We couldn’t have asked for better service! The happy hour menu was delicious and well priced, but we also ordered items to share off the regular menu which were delicious as well! Loved the shrimp! I only wish that they had wine as a choice on their happy hour menu in addition to their cocktails. Happy hour was quiet, which was perfect for our girls get together, but later on I guess it becomes a really fun night club! Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely return!
Music was bumping in a Tuesday. Throwback hip-hop and R&B. Great for a date and with friends, too loud for a business dinner.
Way to loud has become more of a bar!!! Waiter was the worst- mgr helped! Food is great but not worth the hassle!
Great experience and food
I celebrated my 30th birthday at Mesa. It was a lot of fun. The manager sent over birthday shots to help celebrate. The food and drinks were delicious and the atmosphere was fun. I will definitely be going back to Mesa.
The food was great, the decor was cool, and the service was expectional. After telling our server that it was our first time there, the manager came out, welcomed us, and gave us one of their tapas dishes. It was really nice and solidified that we will return.
Mesa is always a good time. Service is always great. The drinks are always tasty and enjoyable. Definitely get reservations.
We were celebrating our two year anniversary of meeting at Mesa, it was wonderful! We will come back every March 1.
I love everything about Mesa! The short rib dish is amazing. I have never tried mussels before but they smelled great so I actually tried them and they were insanely good. The music selection is what sealed the deal for me, the mix was perfect that night!
Looked for a restaurant close to Segerstrom Center for the Performing Arts, found Mesa and were delighted with our pre-theater dining experience. Attentive friendly service and great food. Enjoyed the calamari appetizer, husband said his cheeseburger burger was the best "he has had in a long long time." Wished we could have had enough time for dessert. Excellent bottle of Raeburn Chardonnay at a good price point, which we had never had, went to Total Wine the next day to stock up.
Hippest restaurant in OC. The ambiance was effervescent. The food was superb! Great cocktail list, too.
I was looking for a Valentine's Day drinks/dinner place for my girlfriend and I. We weren't able to do anything on Wednesday due to prior engagements so I wanted to make sure it was special. Mesa offered the perfect ambiance with romantic lighting, modern oriental interior, and a uniqueness with the tree in the middle of the restaurant and the retractable roof. The music was great, cocktails were exceptional, and food was delectable. It comes out to a pricey night out, but its location in the Camp and across from the Lab allows for plenty of options to keep the night going after dinner.
Overall it’s a great place, elegant but informal. They provide fast service on anything you may order. The restrooms are very clean and have an outstanding design, waitresses have a very nice attitude and their dress code is again elegant for informal. Mesa is definitely a place to comeback.
I made reservations for my husbands birthday for 6 people. I later had to make it for 8 people and we were accommodated in a booth that fit us all quite nicely. The food was amazing, the spare ribs were the best and so were the mussels. The cauliflower mac and cheese was very good! We all had a great time!
We celebrated my girlfriend's birthday here this past weekend with 4 friends. Our server was great. She was very attentive and checked on us often. The setting was very nice - dim lights, couches, ambience. We ordered Pork Belly, sliders, charcuterie board, mussels, and the house pizza along with some cocktails and drinks, in particular the lychee martini. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend coming here for a celebration, dinner, or a date.
Mesa restaurant was the perfect scene for my first date with a girl I was really interested in. As you walk in, the ambience is very welcoming and relaxing as music plays in the background. Most times places play music too loud, and it makes it impossible to talk to whoever you're with. Mesa had the music at the perfect level, which allowed to occasionally enjoy a good song but still maintain conversation at the same time. The drinks are very good quality and not too expensive, I had 3 old fashioned's on the night. My date wanted to order the mussels, which I had never tried before and was a little nervous about. Turns out Mesa makes the best mussels one can have and we ended up ordering a total of 3 plates of them. I would definitely recommend a friend to take a date here, or even to have a few drinks with friends over the weekend. 5 out of 5 stars!
My first visit with visiting designer, love the vibe! Food was. Amazing!!!!
Absolutely loved Mesa! Great vibe and awesome food and drink selection!
Food was everything I wanted. With the app I noted that it was a birthday, didnt have to mention it once in the restaurant and they brought out a birthday dessert for us. Awesome service!
Our party of 4 met prior to going to Segerstrom. Other restaurants were not available and Mesa popped up, none of us had been there before. My daughter is very much the food and trendy restaurants snob gave Mesa a glowing review. The food was delicious the Service was good, Nico, our server was gracious and attentive. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Posh, trendy, setting - good lounge music and even better cocktails and food- will come back soon!
Took my boyfriend here to hear the music...He loves JP Orchestra and they did not disappoint!! They were amazing! The food was delicious..the chef kindly came to our table to offer suggestions...We sat by the fireplace...Very romantic evening...love the staff here as well!
Mac and cheese cauliflower was cooked so much you needed a spoon... it was almost soup!
I settled for the scallops because they were out of the handmade pasta and daily soup (tried ordering these, but was informed that these items were unavailable).
The scallops were prepared well and the presentation was good, but there was not enough butternut squash purée to balance the salty collard greens and the sweet wine reduction.
I used to frequent here, but it’s been some time since my last visit. I think the food quality has gone downhill. I don’t plan to return.
I did enjoy the live music they had on a Wednesday night!
Made reservations for date night with my wife/my birthday. We ordered drinks, then 20 min after being sat, were asked to move. Reason given, “for another party”. The table wasn’t filled until about 10 min before we were done with dinner. Our original seats were empty for over an hour. Disappointed given the money we spent on dinner, appetizers, and drinks
Had a great time and delicious food/drinks u rol a part of the wait staff told us we had to leave since there is a 2 hr reservation maximum . Mgr quickly came over and apologized for the delivery and went out of his way to make sure we had a great rest of the night. Customer service at its finest. Will definately recommend and go back.
Perfect for young (30s) friends’ get together. DJ playing after 9:30pm. However I had to leave my table within a 10 minute notice because after 10pm the “owners” of that space would arrive. Basically, after 10pm it’s a club and you have to be standing up by the bar. So if that’s what you’re looking for, go for it. Mesa is a fun music lounge, not a restaurant. Not family friendly. Good for club type birthdays. Food is okay. Drinks are good!
I love Mesa! They have the best Lychee Martinis! I came here for dinner and they had
Live music and delicious food. For my entry
I had the steak. It was perfectly peppered and it came with purree potatoes and a tasty Spinach, bacon and pine nut salad. I highly recommend it!
We went for a 6:00 dinner. The food was amazing, especially the cauliflower and cheese side dish! The restaurant took on a new personality by the end of our dinner. It turned into "the place to be" for the 21-35 crowd. So, at 55, I was feeling pretty old. My daughter would love it though!
We were told at least 3 times our reservation was a 2-hour window, which started hospitality out very low. Our server did not ask if we wanted another round of drinks, seemed perturbed at our orders, and was generally awkward and unfriendly. Definitely a hip place and easy to feel out of place and unwelcome. If you're looking for a warm, friendly place with attentive service, this is not for you.
Shoe String Fries- 10!
Drinks were quite good- Kind of a spicy version of a Moscow Mule I've never had and really liked!
Noisy. Not really great for quiet conversation.
Ambiance is quite nice and a bit trendy/exotic.
Bar is massive.
We ate here prior to a show at the Observatory.
