Mesa Modern Mexican Ratings and Reviews
Good food as expected. Waitress seemed to be new, needed to speak up in the noisy environment. She did make up for it with speed of delivery.
Guac used to be prepared at the table and was now brought from the kitchen already prepared... much better when made at table.
Crowd young college age or just above and loud, even though the place was not full
Drinks were generous and flavorful
I want to love Mesa. The food and drinks are so good and it’s a cute place. However half the time i come in here the service is so insanely terrible that it ruins the entire experience and leaves me very very close to not coming back. I’d really like to see Mesa improve on this
The food was very good. Fresh flavorful food with nice portion size (not too big or small). Drinks were generous, atmosphere festive, waiter competent and attentive. We had a lovely dinner. There was not one thing about the service, food, or atmosphere that we didn't enjoy.
I've been to Mesa a few times and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and their food is very good. I always get the guacamole but this last time it was pretty bland. Could be the avocado's are out of season? I don't know. I highly recommend this restaurant you won't be disappointed!
The atmosphere is awesome both inside and out! I don't love the style of seating on the one wall where one side is a long booth and the other is chairs and essentially couples are potentially seated very close to other couples. I do understand that it maximizes the space and we were there late enough that it did not affect our experience. Good food and great service! Loved the cocktail menu and variety of seasonal options!
We had a reservation for a Monday night. The restaurant only had a few occupied tables and 3 people at the bar. We ordered 2 tequilas on the rocks, and our server was confused. She wanted to know what mixers we wanted so we repeated our order. Then we ordered an appetizer. Waited 10 minutes for our drinks, then I went up to the bar and asked the bartender if we could get our drinks we had ordered. He didn't make the two glasses of tequila even though he was not busy doing anything else.
Server brought our appetizer, which was only OK. 5 minutes later our tequilas finally showed up. Restaurant was still empty.
Cod tacos showed up and were good.
Paid our bill $57.20 with $100 cash. Our change came back in bills, no change, so we were shorted 80 cents.
Very poor service, perhaps it was because we went on a Monday. Would not go back.
Has been awhile since we've eaten at Mesa but usually have always enjoyed a good meal. While the food was good, the service was slow. We would have ordered additional drinks but it took so long to get the 1 Shot of Tequila - that we chose to drink elsewhere. Success for any business is Service, so I hope that Mesa works on providing better service.
The service was very poor,we waited more than ten minutes before anyone got our drink order....and we had to flag a manager for that.....the portions were small......at the conclusion of our meal we were never asked if we would like anything else....the server just brought our check.....we will not be revisiting .
Went for taco Tuesday with my boyfriend. Server was great, I feel bad that I can't remember his name. The margaritas were weaker than they usually are, the gauc tasted kind of imbalanced with the ingredients and I was really disappointed after thinking about it all day. The taco's were alright, not my fave thing on the menu.
This was not not my first time dining at Mesa. This time the service was lackadaisical. The Margarita was like drinking fruit juice. On the plus side the salsa & chips were delicious. Guacamole was excellent. My main course of chicken roullard was delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Yes I will go back for another meal.
Didn't like the new pork tacos, I liked the apple pork tacos way better and the new ones had pineapple. I didn't eat them and was still charged for them. But other than that the place is fun and has great guacamole! There are also fun choices of margaritas to choose from and are tasty.
This was our first time at Mesa and we will definitely be back! The service was warm and friendly which came with the best recommendations. Our food, from appetizers to entrees, was wonderful. Our margaritas (mojito-rita) were outstanding and we even got recommendations for different types of tequilla in this drink (we did take the suggestions and were very glad we did). From beginning to end, we were very pleased with our experience!! Cannot wait to go back!!
First time at Mesa. Was recommended by family. The food was delicious. Guacamole with chorizo was milder than I expected since we ordered it medium spicy, but it was really good. The coconut margaritas actually had liquor you can taste in it. Fantastic. My husband had the enchilada and he said it was the best he ever had. I had the burrito bowl with steak. So good. Place is nice and service is great. Will definitely go back.
Service is was slow, it was very loud in the restaurant, our chocolate cheesecake came out warm-when I told the server I was not satisfied with this she took my dessert away and did not offer alternative or to try a different piece we were just given our bill, including the cost of dessert! Will not return!
I first went to Mesa on Thursday, July 20. I was very impressed. The strawberry jalapeno margarita on the rocks was amazing (not on the menu, but you can still get it)... Not too sweet and then a hint of spiciness after your sip. The guacamole...AWESOME! I hear the chorizo guac is also good, but we just had the medium (three levels of spiciness...mild, medium, and hot). I seriously cannot stop thinking about the guacamole. I had the chicken burrito bowl was equally as amazing. Since we were supposed to go out with friends a couple nights later, I recommended we go to Mesa! Again...guac was amazing as well as the margarita. This time I ordered the grilled steak burrito bowl. My main course arrived...without the steak. My husband and friend's husband both ordered the shrimp and scallops with lobster ravioli with a honey chipotle sauce and my friend ordered the quesadillas. While all three said their dinners were amazing, the portions were smaller than expected. I finally received the steak for my burrito bowl, but by then everyone else was finished and the rest of my bowl was cold. I asked for it to go, but it just doesn't taste the same for lunch the next day. It didn't stop me from going back last night with two more friends for margaritas and hot guacamole this time...the level of spiciness wasn't too bad at all, but I like spicy. I got the cod tacos this time. Again...small portions...three small flour tortillas with 1 piece of batter dipped cod in each. However, it was very good.
All in all...great drinks, great food, smaller than expected portions...will definitely be back...but I'll stick to my guacamole and chicken burrito bowl.
This was our second trip to Meda Modern. There was a very large birthday party next to us. The party was very loud to the point I couldn't hear the people across the table from me. This was a Saturday night and detracted from our own dinner experience. Our waitress was also inattentive. We had re-ordered a round of drinks before our entrees and were half way done with them before our drinks arrived. I'm hoping this was just an off night as our first visit was very good.
My friend and I ordered the vegetarian tacos and to me they were dull. Only black beans and very few plaintains as described on the menu. My pineapple chipotle margarita was very good and our server was excellent. I was disappointed in the tastiness of the food as I have eaten at Mesa a couple of times but had not been in a while.
