Mesa Modern Mexican
Waited 20 minutes after being seated with no server ever coming to our table. We finally flagged someone down who took our order.
Was in the mood for Mexican food heard a lot of good things about this place however there was really no traditional Mexican on the menu and yes I did peruse the menu before booking. I know the place is called modern but I was disappointed none the less
Mesa Modern Mexican is the best for atmosphere, drinks, and their menu. This is one of our favorite places to go.
Hostess was excellent. very accommodating and friendly. Same for the bar staff! Our waiter however seemed very much in a rush to get us served and out of there. Brought our appetizer and said your entrees will be out shortly. We told him we weren't in a rush but sure enough the meal arrived right after our first bite of guac! We sent them back. Proceeded to finish the app and then the meal came. Food was great! Then he abandoned us for a bit and then came to our table with our check. No " did you save room for dessert or an after dinner coffee or drink?". We asked if he was in a hurry and he apologized but it was very insincere. We like Mesa a lot but sometimes the service is lees than good.
Waitress never gave a chips.....the quesadilla was small portion ..but amazing ...the pork taco were very good but not hot
We go to Mesa almost every Tuesday for 'Taco Tuesday' and their fantastic lunch specials. I always intend to try different menu items, but always end up getting the same 'two for $9.95' lunch special - chicken tortilla soup and the chicken wrap. These two items never fail me; except during this last visit. First thing, I ordered an unsweetened iced tea with lemon and was told they did not have lemons!! If you don't have lemons, send someone down to the local supermarket and get some. Second thing, and even more disappointing, were the complementary chips and salsa - they did not have salsa!! Now I will not compare myself with the chef at Mesa, but I make salsa at home and know that any chef could throw the necessary ingredients in a food processor and make salsa. Very disappointing; and I heard a patron at a nearby table say, "Again?" so this has apparently happened on prior occasions - no excuse. I will give our waitress credit - she tried to make it up to us by bringing us some dipping sauces, but they were sauces for other dishes, not for dipping per se. She later brought us a little dipping containier of gaucamole, which was much better. When our meals came, my wrap was not as 'put together' of seasoned as well as it usually is; not sure if the chef was out that day or what. We really like the food at Mesa and hope that this was just an "off" day.
So disappointing. Used to be our favorite place. Drinks were awful. The blackberry basil sangria tasted like purple water-downed vodka. Sent it back. My go to-strawberry jalapeño marg was awful. So syrupy I could not drink it. Sent it back as well.
Kitchen was very slow and backed up. Our appys came out after we were already eating our dinner. Not what it used to be.
Our server was very apologetic. Not her fault at all.
Just awesome. Went there before a show at the State Theater and our waiter made sure we were out in time!
Never a complaint. Always delicious food and excellent service!
Dinner was great. Do not pass on the roasted red pepper soup. The pork tacos are excellent.
Been here several times and last visit was not great. They were out of two different beers and beef tenderloin skewers were tough. Waiter was very nice but kept trying to take our plates while we were still eating. Hopefully it was an off night.
As usual, our Tuesday visit to Mesa was just as great as all of our prior visits. The server was pleasant and attentive, welcoming us back and refilling our salsa bowl when low, and the food was as fantastic as always.
Ok They have been better. Ran out of a few items at 7:30? Ran out of ice tea OK seltzer water and then charge me The food was warm not hot Like I said they have been better
Valentine’s Day dinner with my husband of 34 years. As usual, we were NOT disappointed.
I will preface this by saying Mesa has been one of our favorites in the past. We reserved here for Valentine’s Day. We ordered queso and they were out. They suggested nachos instead and we agreed. We requested chips and salsa, which usually come with a meal, and the waitress told us they were low on chips. After 35 minutes we still had no food, and two couples who had come in after us had received chips and salsa. My husband spoke to the manager and they brought us chips and salsa and our nachos. The nachos had pockets of cold. Our meals came a few minutes later and were mediocre at best. This was a very disappointing experience, especially for Valentine’s Day. I’m not sure if we will return after this.
Great food. Vegetarian Enchiladas were on point.
Everything was wonderful but the blackberry sage margarita is to die for!
Great place and food. Their guacamole and margaritas are amazing!
First time and will go back. Guacamole was outstanding as was food. Empanadas were not traditional as noted by others. Still good but probably wouldn’t order again. Rest of meal excellent and service person just perfect.
Reunion with friends
Made our weekly trek to Mesa for taco Tuesday - always excellent service with excellent food. I usually go for the $9.95 lunch special, where you get to choose two selections from soups, salads, wraps and burgers; it's alot of food for the money, and GOOD food! My husband takes advantage of the taco Tuesday pricing and orders 4 different varieties of tacos, 2 each - he loves them. You cannot go wrong no matter what day of the week you go to Mesa - the food is exceptional.
I usually love Mesa but last night was a disappointment. I ordered the lobster ravioli which is heaven on a plate. But my mom ordered the carne asada tacos because they sounded amazing. They are small so there are only so many ingredients: grilled steak (chewy), crispy swt potato (missing), shiitake mushrooms (missing) jalapeño mustard aioli (tasty but lacked heat). There was salad on them which wasn’t listed on menu. When we asked the server why ingredients were missing, he said they ran out. Seriously?!? And no one said anything? We asked for some fried onions to give the tacos crunch but it didn’t work. And there was no discount or reimbursement for the tacos. Ugh so much for my moms birthday dinner. Mesa, I know you are better than this. Step it up or the new restaurants coming in are sure to push you out.
Nice casual dining. Excellent food at a reasonable price. Our server, Matt, was awesome. The restaurant was slammed with pre theater patrons but handled the volume very well. The food was fresh and delicious. We had the corn tortilla soup, beet salad, rotisserie chicken enchiladas, chicken mac & cheese and the steak arepas, many of which were recommended by Matt. Definitely will be back!
The food was good, the shrimp was a little light on the quesedilla but that was our only complaint. Food was delicious otherwise. Spicy maragrita wasnt too spicy. Our server (I think his name was Eric) was absolutely phenomenal. We were there on a Saturday night, he was busy, but he acknowledged us, was extremely pleasant and personable and we just loved him! Give him a raise!!
This was our first time at Mesa and we will definitely be going back! Eric was our waiter and he was fantastic! We got the chorizo guacamole which was delicious and full of flavor. We also had salmon tacos and a couple of margaritas which were also fantastic!
The food was fresh and delicious. The server was very nice and offered suggestions when we couldn't decide what to order. The atmosphere was a bit lacking. We were seated right in front of the door. They could put a booth there instead of a table and that would have been better.
Quesadillas and empanadas...Yummy! Service wonderful!
Love this place on Taco Tuesday
First time dining at Mesa, it had a nice atmosphere, for being busy it was not loud. All the food was very good from the appetizer, filet skewers to the entrees ; bacon wrapped pork loin and hanger steak. Will be back again!!
The food and service was fantastic! Highly recommend the Palomino Guacamole and the churros with chocolate sauce for dessert!
My first visit to Mesa, and it was very enjoyable. First impression: LOVED the ambience / decor, which added to a great experience. I admittedly do not eat Mexican food on a regular basis - but the options here were vast! We enjoyed the fresh-made (at the table) guacamole and chips for an appetizer, then I had the cod tacos - amazing! My lady enjoyed the beef skewers and yucca fries, which was also awesome. A truly memorable experience, and definitely worthy of a return visit to try some of the other menu items.
Fun and chill environment! The food is amazing and the service is always great!
The service was a little slow compared to other times we’ve gone but not terrible. Our server was courteous and professional. We went for brunch and the food was pretty good but a comment was made that the Breakfast Frittata was a little salty. Otherwise we had a great time.
1st time there. Very Good!
The food was amazing as always, the service was great. Thanks to everybody in the kitchen and to our server Mitchel.
We try and get to Mesa every Tuesday for taco Tuesday, but this time we went because it was restaurant week and the lunch menu that they offered was three courses for $15 and the choices looked fabulous! However, we ended up getting our Tuesday favorites anyway; creatures if habit. The flavor of the food at Mesa is fantastic, very original and authentic - the best!
Nice people, But didnt get seated until well after 8 or a 730 reservation, Very hot inside, Good food , good value yes I will go back!
We had original Margaritas. They were delicious. Then the guacamole! Also delicious. We all had tacos or quesadillas which were very good, too. Definitely a go back place.
Several things we requested were brought out incorrectly.
