It was here at Merrick Place, that Milam and his groom, Mr. Johnson, trained the fabled "Exterminator", Kentucky Derby winner of 1918. Here also, "Tut Tut", Komuraski, Commodore, Brown Wisdom, Miss Joy, Milkmaid, McKee and Dust Flower started on their paths to fame and fortune. None of these, however, gained such widespread fame as Merrick himself. Merrick finished in the money 157 times, winning 62 races.
The Merrick Inn has been owned and operated by the Murray family for nearly 40 years. Offering the finest in traditional southern dining and innovative specials. Times have changed, but we believe the beauty and charm of our inn remain the same.
Bar and patio seating are available starting at 4:00pm for cocktails.
Appetizers and sandwiches are available by 5:00pm and the full menu by 5:30pm.
PLEASE NOTE: RESERVATIONS MADE ARE FOR THE DINING ROOM. WE DO NOT RESERVE PATIO OR BAR TABLES.
great experience. Food was great especially the filet mignon - juicy and flavorful!
My parents and I went to Merrick Inn for my graduation dinner and were blown away. Friendly and professional service, nice atmosphere, and incredible food. We got 3 different proteins and all were cooked perfectly, and the creme brulee was the best I’ve ever had. Not a cheap night out, but surprisingly affordable for the setting and quality. Highly recommend for a nice night out or a special occassion.
Our dinner was very good. Service was excellent.
The ambiance was not at all what we expected for such a fine dining place.
It was so noisy we could not hear each other at our table for four.
The restaurant is very nice but I don’t care if I go back because I don’t enjoy yelling to carry on a conversation with my dinner companions.
Great service and good food! Wish they had more pasta choices and options for vegetarians. The valet service is awesome!
Engagement dinner for son and fiancé.
Great food and broad selection. Staff handled a busy night smoothly. Food served promptly and hot. Excellent taste. Enjoyed.
We have been coming to the Merrick Inn for over 30 years. Still has the same wonderful food with some new surprises. As usual the customer service was impeccable. We will be back at our next special event.
Outstandinall g food and service.all was fantastic thanks.
Wonderful food and service and atmosphere - not inexpensive
Excellent food. Prime rib was fabulous. Excellent service. Looking forward to going back.
Always a Special Dining location!
Everyone was super gratious, especially our server . It made our anniversary memorable.
Love the food and atmosphere. Service is always great and friendly.
It's a wonderful place but it was so loud we could hardly have a conversation. It was also very, very cold where we sat which made it hard to enjoy. The food is most excellent though - just need the noise level to be significantly less and regulation of the temperature to a reasonable rate.
Excellent as always Mother’s 92 birthday dinner with family great food great service nice quiet room next to fireplace
We went for our 30th wedding anniversary . The food, atmosphere, staff best in fine dining in Lexington
Enjoyed a great meal and location for our anniversary.
As always, Merrick Inn delivered. The choices were plentiful, great specials and portions rather generous. The server was great - knowledgeable, very pleasant, efficient and just really very good at what she does. Will go back again for sure!
The food and aura was great, will definitely be back!
The food is delicious and everything I had and those in my party had were wonderful. I’ve been there many times and am always satisfied. But the noise makes it impossible to enjoy yourself. All you want to do is eat and get out. We were seated in a small room with another small (3-4) party. But there was also a very large party in the same room. I couldn’t hear what my husband was saying while sitting next to him. I ordered my desert and took it to go. If you’re planning an enjoyable evening of leisurely conversation, you’ll want to look elsewhere.
Wonderful atmosphere! Great food and very knowledgeable wait staff. One of our favorite places to dine when we’re in town. Thank you for a lovely evening!
Always a winner! Great food, atmosphere and service.
I have customer from
Pittsburgh ... he only wants to eat here ever visit !
We brought customers from Memphis , brought them to Merrick .., coming back in Dec , requested Merrick !
Brought clients and it was delicious and fun! Thank you!
We had a wonderful evening. Thanks for the tasty dessert. Keep up the good work.
Lexington landmark, great food and service---on the noisy and congested side for quiet dining
Simply the best, our crew from Woodbe Farm Martha’s Vineyard celebrated our week and success at The Nationals and we topped it all off at The Merrick Inn. Couldn’t have been a better night, thanks to all.
I love this place, but we made reservations for 7:45pm but we weren't seated until 8pm. what is the purpose of reservations if you aren't seated at the requested time? The house was very cold, the fireplace wasn't putting out much heat. But the food is great and the waiter was kind. Best filet in Lexington.
Visited from Dallas, TX while on a business and fun trip combined.
Requested romantic seating and were seated in a great little room (right of the host/hostess station) with limited seating next to a fireplace. Made for a great date night! Server was very attentive. Ordered a specially prepared steak that was done perfectly. I will be back for sure.
The Merrick Inn was outstanding! We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary there and they made sure that the greeting to the food and desert were top notch. I would recommend them for any occasion!
Went for Wednesday night fried chicken special.
Everything was Fabulous. First timers and exceeded our expectations. Going back Monday night for the prime rib feed. Don’t miss this place.
One of my favorite places in Lexington.
Merrick Inn is an old established Lexington tradition but our last visit was not as it should be. For starters, we were seated in one of the small crowded rooms and our server was unable to stand at our table to tell us the specials because of the traffic from the other server walking by repeatedly. Very annoying. Second, my wife's water glass was dirty and had to be replaced. That happens. But my appetizer plate was dirty also, dried food, and had to be replaced. Two dirty dished during one meal..excessive. We both ordered a salad with our meal and blue cheese dressing. The dressing was very, very bland and I do not recommend it. The rest of the entree was OK, it's hard to mess up a baked potato. The wine was also very good. We ordered the chocolate bread pudding for desert . We have ordered bread putting at restaurants for years but have never seen any like that. It appeared to be nothing but warmed brownie dough. Would not recommend it for bread pudding ever. I would not feel comfortable recommending Merrick Inn to any of our out of town guests.
Been to Merrick Inn many times over the years-it never disappoints. Always great food and excellent service. I would highly recommend!
the special was $39.00. no price was given. and it was not a good piece of fish!
Service was excellent. Seating for a large party of people was crowded and cramped.
Table was not ready at hour reserved. We were offered tables for 2, for party of three.
Considering that waitress had several years' experience, was not polished.
Valet nowhere to be seen at 10 pm departure.
Very nice venue.
Merrick Inn is the best! It never disappoints, relaxing atmosphere and great food!
We went for our second anniversary and it was great. It was a little more expensive than I thought it would be but it was delicious. We'll definitely go again in the future.
