Came to celebrate my 25th birthday. Food and service was excellent! My steak was cooked perfectly. Loved the strawberry short cake. Thank you so much!
Merrick is always at the top of their game
Amanda was perky and humorous. Food was delightful Decorations are very horsey and quite fun
Lovely venue, fantastic service, delicious food!! We love Merrick!
We celebrated our 31st anniversary early and tried Merrick’s Inn for the first time. First of all, excellent service by Haley! Our cocktails were excellent seasonal picks. Filet was perfect and the fish of the day, Corvina, was amazing. We took our desserts to go, a French silk and a butterscotch bread pudding. All I can say is, ahhhhhh. We will be back!
Great night getting reacquainted with the Merrick. Always a great time and always clever with food choices and service. Dined outside which is always fun. Wine and food was great as expected at an uber reasonable price point.
Defiantly a must when visiting Lexington!
Went to dinner to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. Was seated right next a family of at least 15. Could hardly hear each other talk. I’m 6’1 and was seated at a table pretty much against the wall, which was not fun. I ordered the broccoli with hollandaise and she ordered the asparagus casserole as sides. My broccoli hollandaise was definitely heavy on the lemon. It was very tart. Her asparagus casserole was a very small portion and literally had three small pieces of asparagus in it. My steak, what was the aged NY strip was cooked perfectly. Which I was very happy with. She ordered the Merrick Ribeye medium rare which was over cooked except for the very center which was medium rare. They also broke down two tables where the family of 15 people were sitting right in front of us while we were eating. Which was very awkward. Overall was not happy and do not recommend for a quiet special occasion at all.
We had 3 people and wanted to sit on the patio. We made a reservation, but when we arrived were told that only the dining room accepted reservations. There were two open 6 tops outside, but they would not allow us to sit there without 6 people. The wait was 45 minutes and I have a young child. We sat in the bar which was less than ideal with a child but we were underdressed for the dining room. They came after we had ordered our food and offered to let us move to a 6 top. At that point the amount of work to move our appetizers and drinks along with toys etc would have been significant. I will not be back with a group. The food presentation was nice, but it was a frustrating experience when we just wanted to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather. I had a similar experience last year when it was just me. I had decided to give it another try.
Food was great. We had a new waiter - she was attentive (not overly), friendly and upbeat (she did forget to deliver a salad, but made up for it). Eating on the patio was really nice, though extremely noisy. My least favorite part of eating here is parking - I've never been able to find an empty spot that isn't labeled as "resident" (the restaurant is nestled in an apartment complex, with narrow streets), so you're forced to use the "complimentary valet service" (valets only work for tips).
As always had a fantastic meal and great service. The special for the evening was prime rib and it was delicious. My wife had the filet mignon as is her usual here. She was delighted with it. The salad is tasty and the dressings made on site are great. Another wonderful birthday celebration!
I have never left a review before, as I have never before been to a restaurant worthy of the effort. Merrick Inn is definitely worth that effort. The food was outstanding and worth every penny. The grouper fingers with mustard sauce was hands down the best appetizer I have ever had. For my main course I ordered the special that night, halibut with a crab and heirloom tomato salsa on top and a shallow layer of lobster bisque underneath. For my sides I got the green beans and house salad with their house dressing. The green beans were as close to my Grandmother's as I've ever had and the house dressing was phenomenal! The fish was perfectly prepared and the flavor profile with the salsa on top and bisque underneath was excellent. My dinner companion got the 14 oz. Ribeye and swears it's better than any steak at Malone's. For dessert we shared the creme brulee. It was very good. There are only two negative things I can think to say, and one is a stretch. First, our waitress strictly took our order and brought our food. There was nothing wrong with her service, it was pretty timely, but all of the tables around us had extraordinary waiters. We ended up listening to the waiter at the table behind us for recommendations, chit chat, and little tidbits about the Merrick Inn. He was great. We both enjoyed listening to him. Like I said, that was a stretch because she was prompt and we wanted for nothing. Second, and definitely inconvenient, was the restroom situation. There is one restroom and it is about the size of a closet that serves one. There is no real room in the narrow hallway to wait on the previous patron to finish, plus it is a little ridiculous that such a seemingly large place has one teeny, tiny restroom for women. I would assume it's the same for the men but I don't know that for a fact. All in all the atmosphere was great, the meal was probably the best I've ever had, and we really enjoyed our evening at the Merrick Inn. I will definitely be back!
Merrick Inn is our favorite! Never disappoints.
We went to celebrate our anniversary. Was a very good experience. A great waiter! Only problem was parking.
It was delightful. Great waitress. Food was fabulous
Had always hear good things about this place. It didn’t disappoint. Everything we ordered was great.
Our dining experience was perfect. The food was extraordinary and the service was perfect. I doubt I've had a better dinner.
The food and service were both excellent.
Great date spot. Classic dishes done well. Great cocktails.
Classic and still wonderful! Always enjoy the Merrick Inn!!
We were from out of town on our way back from a wedding in North Carolina. We were only staying one night and pulled up some reviews and went. It was great. Service was wonderful and the food was excellent.
I’m just so sad I left my leftovers there. Walked away completely forgetting it. But I was so upset when I realized it.
The atmosphere is very charming and horse country motif very interesting. A bit loud, but not overboard. The main courses were fair for myself and outstanding for my wife. I ordered Prime Rib which was recommended, medium rare, which was tasty and flavorful on the edges but tough and chewy toward the middle. I was not impressed. My wife ordered a pork tenderloin with a pecan crust and a fruit chutney that was very enjoyable. Sides were fair. Good wine list with value. Exceptional Bourbon selection with flights.
My server was exceptional! I feel that the price point for the meal was a bit high for the overall quality, however, I would give the restaurant another go for the vibe itself.
Always a great dining experience. I love the atmosphere and the choice of vegetables.
Amazing service and food!! The weather was perfect for dining on the patio which made it a wonderful evening!!
Went for our anniversary and couldn't be happier with Merrick Inn! The food was mind blowingly good and the service was amazing. Since it was our anniversary they had a bottle of markers mark on table that said happy anniversary and also when our dessert came it said happy anniversary on the plate. Would definitely recommend Merrick Inn!
Family dinner- service & food impeccable! The grouper fingers and makers shrimp excellent service. The walleye is delish as well as prime rib special. In 20 plus years of going to Merrick - I’ve Never had a bad meal.
Everyone at this restaurant is very friendly. They were very helpful and made sure that our dining experience was pleasant. The food was great and was priced right. I didn’t get the fried chicken but I was able to see it and the smell was awesome. I will be back to try that.
My wife and I were celebrating our 40th anniversary and they made it very special for us. Thank you!
Merrick Inn is amazing. There are multiple dining areas ranging from casual outdoor dining to upscale old victorian mansion. Three bars scattered throughout the premises are each a bit different as far as atmosphere.
As far as I'm concerned, the food and service is always wonderful. We often drive from South Carolina to the Chicago area and purposely overnight in Lexington so we can eat at The Merrick Inn. One seldom sees Walleye Pike on a menu and theirs is outstanding either fried or broiled. Grouper bites for a snack at the bar or appetizer is great. My son-in law especially likes their hot brown. If you don't know what this is, it is a heart attack on a plate.
The wine list has several really good choices that are not marked up so high as some other places. Bartenders specialize in some house special cocktails as well as an extensive Bourbon selection.
Get a reservation, go early and relax at the bar, and then enjoy a great meal.
Good atmospheres, good food, excellent service.
This was our first time to the Merrick Inn and it won’t be our last! It was my husbands 46th birthday celebration. Our server Kristin( hope i spelled her name right) was spectacular! She was very sweet and was on top of everything at our table!!! The food was amazing delicious! It was the perfect night! Thank you Kristin and Merrick Inn❤️Sheri Younger
My other and I were in Lexington for an overnight getaway from Ohio. The theme for our trip was "all things equestrian". While planning I searched for recommended restaurants and found The Merrick Inn. The history of the restaurant and wonderful menu was important in my decision to make a reservation. We were not disappointed. Food, beverages and service were outstanding. We had a great time. Thank you also for family-related restaurant suggestions in Northern Kentucky.
Merrick Inn was a wonderful experience. The food was fabulous and our server was excellent. We will return as soon as we are back in the area.
This was our (husband and i) 2nd visit. We ate inside in one of the dining rooms (not the bar). We had enjoyed our first dinner at the Inn, but this time we were really disappointed and probably won't be back. I had the scallops wrapped in bacon. This dish is way too expensive: $35 or so, for a few scallops; the flavor was just overwhelmingly bacon; couldn't taste the scallops at all, and their texture was milky (which i didn't like). In comparison, the scallop entree at Bella Notte is much tastier and a lot less expensive (about $28 i think): seared scallops on a bed of linguine with a vodka cream sauce. My husband had the fried walleye pike, which was ordinary. This was also fairly expensive and not worth it. The sides were bland/boring (Southern-style green beans; corn pudding; stewed tomatoes; asparagus, which was wilted (not in a good way) and had a sauce which was supposed to be Hollandaise but tasted non-homemade and had an unpleasant texture.
Food was excellent and so was the staff!!!! :-)
Will definitely go again!
Mother’s Day dinner.
This was for my wife on Mother's Day. It was our first time to eat at your restaurant and we were both very happy we came. The food was great and the server was outstanding!
The service was very good. The food was excellent and the valet parking was very good. All in all it was a very good experience.
EXCELLENT service and delicious food! Never disappointed at Merrick!
Excellent restaurant. Our favorite in Lexington, Kentucky. We have been going to the Merrick Inn for the past 4 years every time we are in town. Our daughter has just graduated from UK Dental School so it may be our last time unless fate or circumstance returns us to Lexington. Thank you Merrick Inn for 4 great years of meals and celebrations!
We've been eating at Merrick Inn for over 30 years. It's our favorite Lexington restaurant. Consistently good, classic food; lovely ambiance; good service.
