It was here at Merrick Place, that Milam and his groom, Mr. Johnson, trained the fabled "Exterminator", Kentucky Derby winner of 1918. Here also, "Tut Tut", Komuraski, Commodore, Brown Wisdom, Miss Joy, Milkmaid, McKee and Dust Flower started on their paths to fame and fortune. None of these, however, gained such widespread fame as Merrick himself. Merrick finished in the money 157 times, winning 62 races.
The Merrick Inn has been owned and operated by the Murray family for over 40 years. Offering the finest in traditional southern dining and innovative specials. Times have changed, but we believe the beauty and charm of our inn remain the same.
We had an enjoyable time for my birthday!! The food was excellent, as was the service. I don't remember our waitresses name, but she was outstanding!! The room was very cozy & comfortable, all in all a lovely evening!! 👍👍
This restaurant is always on par to deliver a great dining experience. Love it as always
Our anniversary was special at Merrick Inn. I had the fried chicken with corn pudding and my wife had the salmon. Both were excellent. We started with fried green tomatoes and they were crisp, tart, and sweet. We licked the dish. Be back soon
Wonderful service and excellent food. Lovely place as well. A cut above for authentic southern dining.
I made a reservation a week in advance and called to follow up. They knew it was for an anniversary. Our table was right by the door and beside a large loud party. It was not private or romantic in the least. Food was excellent, however they didn't do anything to acknowledge our anniversary.
The food and the service was awesome. My three friends enjoyed it immensely. We all plan to return the next time we are in Lexington. 5 stars all the way.
Food was delicious! Our server, Amy, made perfect recommendations. One item didn’t come out on time due to the gm not liking how it looked but he came out and spoke to us and we were not charged for that item. We had a wonderful evening and will return!
NEVER Disappoints. Ever. I have been coming here since I moved to Lexington in the 80’s. This restaurant is consistently good. I have never had a bad meal or service here. Never will. Will always be on repeat.
Yes, my boo and I had a great first date! Great place.
Gorgeous patio! Great food and wine!
We had a n early dinner and had the small room to ourselves for most of the meal. It was very nice. Our server was great always checking to make sure all was good.
Always wonderful! We’ve been a hundred times and we’re never disappointed!
We enjoyed everything put on our table at Merrick from the break basket to the creme brulee, they took care of us and waited patiently as my husband went back to the hotel to get his wallet. The waitstaff was extremely kind and attentive. We felt very welcome there and really enjoyed celebrating our 10 anniversary!
We were celebrating a marriage of friends.
Everything was wonderful.
We ate outside on the patio, loved the food and atmosphere! Can’t wait to go back. The pecan crusted pork was phenomenal!
Wonderful food! Kristin was so attentive. She made great recommendations & told us fun stories about her experiences at the Merrick Inn. Hannah & Clay were fun & showed the upstairs as well as other areas. The food was so good & highly recommend this unique experience of history & food.
Nice menu with plenty of choices and our food was delicious!
Excellent food and facility! Highly recommend it. We had a business meeting and it was a little bit loud and very dark. I don't recommend a business meeting on a Saturday night unless you get a private room. Perfect for date night and celebrations! Loved the facility!
The prime rib was excellent and my wife loved the walleye pike. We had the rock shrimp dip and it was great as well. The French silk pie was a wonderful compliment.
Awesome place! Everything was wonderful from the hospitality to the food!!
Our waiter Cody was excellent for a new
Hire and the food and ambiance were excellent. Loved the history behind the Inn also. We’ll definitely be back and recommend to anyone. Thanks
Delicious meal and delightful atmosphere. Will return the next time we visit Lexington.
Amazing meal! The Merrick calamari appetizer, heirloom tomatoes with dill dressing and fried chicken were excellent. Can’t wait to return.
We celebrated my wife’s birthday and the service and food were excellent.
It took nearly an hour to have our salads served. The fried chicken was over cooked.
Service was excellent. All appetizers great. Food excellent excellent except the chicken I had. 2 small boneless chicken breasts prepared in some kind of sauce that was yummy. One chicken breast perfect. Could even cut the second. Kind of rubbery. Very weird. Didn’t want reduction on meal as everything else we four ordered was perfect, but was given half off of my meal.
I highly recommend Merrick Inn especially for special occasions.
Very nice. Elegant. A party of 8 and another party of four were seated in the room with us. They were very loud which detracted from our dining experience.
Ther God and drinks wtw above average, but the space was very tight for a party of 4. I wish we'd had more room at the table and within the room so we didn't feel like we were dining on top of other people.
Had another wonderful dinner experience. Halibut special was outstanding.
Everything was great.
Love the setting. The server was knowledgeable and enthusiatic. Food presentation and taste was outstanding. Loved you special 2 for _____. A definite return when in Lexington.
Was disappointed that our server had no idea what the evening specials were, nor what sides were available. Items requested (butter, horseradish, sour cream) were forgotten. Some food was lukewarm, although potato was hot. Also saw another server with very long hair carry a food tray on her shoulder with her hair going into the food. Was a bit of a turnoff. Additionally, made reservations online, not realizing it was for dining room only, not patio. We went earlier than expected and went to the patio, asking that the inside reservation be cancelled. Hostess agreed to do so. Half hour later, I received an electronic reminder that I had an upcoming reservation. Upon inquiring, hostess forgot. The restaurant was not busy while we dined. Was disappointed that it was not a smooth dining experience.
The food was amazing, as it always is at Merrick. The only negative was the location of our very small table in the middle of the room. The table was large enough for 2 but not 4 adults. We were very cramped and the AC blew on our table the entire meal. We rotated seats frequently so one person didn't get the brunt of the air.
Overall, we enjoyed our birthday meal.
Enjoyed our experience so much! Noise level was a little bad but once a table left with loud talkers it wasn’t bad. We want to go back soon
Great food and service is what you expect from Merrick Inn and they did not disappoint! Highly recommend the fried green tomatoes. Fabulous!
Great food and great service. I get back to Kentucky once a year and always eat at the Merrick Inn. I've never been disappointed.
We had not been to merrick inn in a while and decided to celebrate a birthday with dinner there. The service was horrible there were 5 in our party and dinner took 2.5 hours. The food was so-so ....vegetables were completely overcooked. For the price we paid we should have stayed home and had lobster flown in from maine.
Outstanding service, food and atmosphere. I'm from out of town but visit the Merrick Inn whenever I go to Lexington. Been going there for years and highly recommend them for food and drinks. Great place to meet friends and for a special occasion.
Merrick Inn is our favorite Lexington restaurant.
Jillian was so helpful attentive and upbeat. Our food was gourmet and I especially liked the salmon. The charm of the old south brings us back time and again.
It continues to be the best place in town to eat. So much history and the food is fabulous.
Merrick Inn is one of our favorites. We can always rely on them for a consistent dining experience. Food and service is always excellent!
